I didn't see a thread for this but it was one of the most satisfying aspects of the episode for me, so I thought I'd start one. First of all, I loved Kate's reaction to seeing the photo of Claire. With everything that was going on in trying to escape, I don't know if she even registered the fact that Claire was pregnant. If she did, she didn't process it until she saw the photo. And then there was the whale, the same one we saw Aaron with while she was raising him. Did she get a sense of deja vu there? In any case, it was so like Kate to interrupt her getaway to go back for Claire.

I had no trouble believing they would bond since both are alone... and Claire asked her to stay. Feeling alone was sort of the theme of this episode, after all, and Claire was very much alone. When there was a scare about Aaron's heartbeat, I loved when the camera panned down and we saw that Kate was holding Claire's hand.

I really enjoyed watching Kate's story with Aaron off the island, and since she was midwife to Claire on the island, I'm very glad they chose to show her establishing that bond with both Claire and Aaron in the OtherLost right at the start. It will make her mission to find Claire on the island to reunite her with Aaron all the more poignant.

One of my roommates and I declared that Kate should give up on Jack & Sawyer and raise Aaron with Claire. :)

I wrote to a friend earlier today: "Aaron has two mommies!"
My friend shot that theory down by replying: "Nope. Proposition 8."

(Never mind that they're in 2004, and it's an alternate reality.)
