I generally stay away from Spoilers, so nearly all of what follows will be based on gut instinct, and my observations from the episodes I've seen. A few of them I feel fairly confident about, some of them I've pulled out of thin air and I don't take very seriously.


1. Is the real Sawyer on the island?
No, but he doesn't have to be... "our Sawyer" became, for all intents and purposes, the real Sawyer when he, too, became a con man, and by provoking Sayid into stabbing him, "our Sawyer" has lived up to his childhood promise to kill Sawyer. Sawyer's problem now will be to figure out who he is without the Real Sawyer running his life; when this is accomplished he'll go by his real name. After he leaves the island he'll marry a nice girl whose name doesn't begin with a 'K', and he will be a thoroughly changed man; he will not be able to think of the island without feeling a terrible loss and sadness..


2. Who hit Sayid on the head with the stick?
Ethan did, on Locke's instructions, although it's a bit more complicated than that: Locke didn't mean to have a part in it. We will learn that Ethan isn't as bad as we thought he was, but he is a stranger character than most of us think.


3. Was Ethan's name on the manifest?
The name Ethan Rom wasn't on the manifest... but the name of someone very close to Ethan was.


4. Who is Alex?
What is Alex. Alex is the name of the research ship Danielle's party arrived on. The ship has inexplicably vanished, alarming and perplexing Danielle.


5. Does Jin speak English?
Yes. Jin was also informed of Sun's plan to leave him, so he went to the airport prepared. Jin isn't as bad a guy as he's been made out to be. Jin will "live happily ever after", after quitting his father-in-law's business.


6. What was Kate's crime?
Murder... it's involved in a military "black project" somehow. Kate is more dangerous than we think, and her backstory is a key to what is happening on the island. The other characters might all survive to the last episode and leave the island, but Kate will never leave it.


7. Who will Kate kiss next? (After "Confidence Man" episode)
If she kisses Jack, it will happen no earlier than the season finale. If there is a kiss between her and Sawyer, Sawyer will be the one to kiss her rather than the other way around, and something bad will have happened to Kate first.


8. Why did the psychic insist that Claire take flight 815?
To be certain she would be on the plane when it crashes. And Claire will not be the only character to have been instructed to take that flight by a psychic. The psychics do not know why they are doing this... they might think it is their own idea, but they will be wrong.


9. Is Hurley good or evil?
Hurley's basically good, but he's definitely got a dark side. Also, we'll learn he is related to somebody famous, though he is not proud of the fact, and this would be a source of friction between Hurley and his family.


10. What is on the other side of the mountains?
More wreckage from numerous other crashes, more abnormal animals, and a surprising revelation about the island - they are not where they think they are. "The Others" are not human, genetic engineering is not involved, and they are not aliens. We probably won't ever see one clearly or hear it speak directly to another character, unless there is some sort of trouble with the ratings and ABC suits force it to happen.
