Heard something interesting. Seems like, so far, Season 6 eps are following Season 1 eps in subject focus - Lax 1&2 are the beginning of the season, instead of the plane crash in Sea 1 we have a NON-crash and the Flash Sideways... Seasn 1, Ep 3 is a Kate episode about "What she Does" and Season 6, Ep 3 is a Kate episode about "What she Does". Season 1, Ep 4 is a Jack episode and I hear this next Season 6 ep is a Jack episode... Make sense. I am sure there are some threads on this but search does not work...

Also, tomorrow night is the 108th episode. :cool:

Yep, I think they're following the first season to a degree. Obviously there are a few differences in characters (Ben, Richard, Iliana, etc.) who all equally deserve a centric episode.

They probably will take the place of dead characters' centric episodes like Boone and Shannon's.

I'm hoping that, in the case of the dearly departed, they will have the new character's sideflash cross with the parallel with the dead guy/girl they're representing. Sort of a substitute. So that, for instance, a Miles sideflash would include Charlie or an Ilana sideflash would include Juliet.

I like the concept, but it might also force centrics when it is not naturally time to focus on a character. Kate, for example, didn't really come to any realization or epiphany in "What Kate Does". It might have fit more as Sawyer episode where he lets go of Juliet and throws the ring into the water. As a Kate-centric, it felt forced.

I had guessed "The Substitute" would be akin to "Walkabout". But the flashes don't work with island-plot as well as it did in Season 1, because Locke and Flocke are two different people or entities. When it flashes side-ways, there are no emotional linkages between the 2 stories. Even with Kate, even though it's the same character.

I mentioned this elsewhere, but it fits here. With the Locke-centric what I noticed that sort of tied them together was that as ParaLocke began to let go of the things that were typical of Locke, SmoLocke seemed to become more like the old Locke. For instance, Locke never told Rose to not tell him what he can't do in a scene that would have had him seething before. This is contrasted with the SmoLocke shouting to the boy to not tell him what he couldn't do. In the parallel, Locke retires his knives, while SmoLocke seems to scout the island, not stopping and assuming his Locke form until he finds a knife.

I haven't heard about anyone else pointing this out so I figured I'd throw it out there. Don't know if it means anything but so far, the flash sideways in season six are centric in the same order the season 1 flashbacks were

S1E1/E2 - multi character centric (Pilot pt 1 & 2)
S6E1/E2 - multi character centric (LA X pt 1 & 2)

S1E3 - Kate Centric (Tabula Rasa)
S6E3 - Kate Centric (What Kate does)

S1E4 - Locke Centric (Walkabout)
S6E4 - Locke Centric (The Substitute)

S1E5 - Jack Centric (White Rabbit)
S6E5 - Jack Centric (The Lighthouse)

S1E6 - Sun/Jin Centric (House of the Rising Sun)
S6E6 - ??

S1E7 - Charlie Centric (The Moth)
S1E7 - ??


I think the pattern will continue until it gets to a character that is currently dead (Charlie, ep 7). Then it will skip them and go to the next character in the order that is still alive in s6 (Sawyer - confidence man). Therefore, ep7 will be Sawyer centric.

And if you look at season 1 and take out all the centric episodes for characters that are dead/no longer on the show, you get 19 total hours. Season 6 in total is supposed to be 18 hours. Pretty close.
