View Full Version : The last scene
enigma420 03-09-2010, 10:34 PM I know they've been doing the whole echo season 1 thing, but that shot for shot recreation of an episode at the end when Hurley and Jack rolled up, wasn't that from season 3 when Kate and Sayid went to get Jack and he brought Juliet back? I can't remember when it was or what the return was, but Sayid was throwing logs on the fire, I think Sawyer or Hurley was sitting where Miles was, and Matthew Fox even gave pretty much the same performance. It just struck me as strange because everything has been season 1-ish, but I can't for the life of me remember a slo-mo homecoming like that in season 1.
Andromeda Irulan 03-09-2010, 10:39 PM Yeah you have the scene right. It was when they brought Juliet back.
I thought the recreation was beautiful.

I did too...it was very stunning to see it and immediately recognize it. And if I remember correctly, Jack's facial expressions and actions were almost exact as well. Kudos to all involved on that scene.
beema 03-09-2010, 10:50 PM Actually that scene has played out like 4 different times on lost.
There have been a lot of long-departed parties that appeared from behind that bush/corner on the beach.
Season 2: Bernard, Jin, and Libby
season 3: kate and sawyer after coming back from Hydra
there are maybe one or two more I can't remember
It definitely gave off a S1 vibe.
jatefan 03-09-2010, 10:56 PM I love the reconnection scenes! Can't wait to see Jin and Sun reunite!

Yeah, there have obviously been homecoming moments, but my point was on this scene, it was shot for shot. For the entirety of the scene starting with lapidus putting logs on the fire all the way through, it was exactly the same scene when they showed up with juliet, the differences were different people in the roles, and a mirror image of a lostie frowning upon an other, who was it, Kate looking nasty at Juliet when she came around the corner vs Jack looking somewhat icily at Ben as he noticed him. Also the way Jack shook hands, when he smiled, etc. There was a bunch of minutiae that was a direct copy as opposed to just being somewhat of a homecoming scene. And it makes me wonder why they would pick that scene to mimic, especially since it is a season 3 thing, and they've been aping season 1 when they do any kind of self reference. Though I guess the answer to that is in your statement...no season one homecoming?
bockset 03-09-2010, 11:09 PM yeah but Richard replaces Juliet in this like scene....

Yep, exactly. Even the music was the same.
What I'm wondering, though, is who in that scene was in the place Ben was?
Off the top of my head, I think it was Sawyer, but I'm not certain.
beema 03-09-2010, 11:24 PM Just so everyone has it for reference:
YouTube- Sawyer and Kate reunited
I honestly don't see more similarities in this than any of the other reunion scenes. My point was, whenever there was a beach reunion, EVERYONE comes out from behind that same bush, and the scenes all play out pretty similar.
I also don't think they are very focused on the mirroring season 1 thing anymore, since this was a Ben episode anyways, and he wasn't even in season 1.
I was thinking of these two:
YouTube- The Lost Reunion
YouTube- kate and sawyer return back to the beach
LostLaura 03-09-2010, 11:25 PM Yes, it was nearly identical. Although I also thought of the Rafties/Tailies reuniting with the Beachies in S2.
enigma420 03-09-2010, 11:39 PM I guess it was more of a combination of all three..I'll answer the question one of these days on a season 1-6 rewatch :D
SpoonFork 03-10-2010, 12:00 AM You're not the only one that thought it was the exact same scene with different people. Where's the Juliet video?
Nevermind, it was the first one. But that scene tonight looked like shot for shot with something I've seen before on this show.
johnnywishbone 03-10-2010, 12:02 AM What about when Jack looks around everyone to see Ben standing behind the rest of them - almost out of place........kinda mirroring the way Flocke took special notice of Kate, last week?
Granted, different kinds of expressions on their faces, but still similar? Maybe?
Team Flocke vs Team Jack?
Just a thought.

K...so I'm not cra...I'm not the ONLY one who's crazy right? :D
Lostie1201 03-10-2010, 02:07 AM ..were different people in the roles, and a mirror image of a lostie frowning upon an other, who was it, Kate looking nasty at Juliet when she came around the corner vs Jack looking somewhat icily at Ben as he noticed him.
Actually, in the Season 3 epi it was Sawyer looking nasty at Juliet as she was the last to round the corner. He was hugging Kate when he spotted her. I remember this scene so very, very well as it was and still is a favorite of mine.
Tonight's mirror scene was just great. Icing on top of a fanstastic episode.
babylibra7 03-10-2010, 02:21 AM This scene emotionally resonated with me much like the Rafties/Tailies/Beachies reunion did in S2. That was the first scene that I thought of that it reminded me of, although yes, the Juliet parallel is a bit closer to what it was. It had music from S1 in it, I think from Exodus, as well, didn't it?
I'm glad at least Sun is back with Jack and Hurley, who I would hope would give her more of an explanation as to where Jin went off to than Miles did.
evanesco75 03-10-2010, 06:23 AM Lovely scene, loved the mirroring, and I have to say, such scenes are making me all sad and weepy, because soon we won't get anymore of this.
