This "leaving the main island" really baffels me for Flocke.
Why on earth, does he think he can "just leave" the main island?
We've assumed that he is "trapped" on the island"
and that Jacob was the one that trapped him there.
Now that Jacob is gone he thinks he can "just leave"?
And what did he do to deserve "being trapped"?
What is sooooo special on Hydra?
The Pemstar Initiative thinks once he leaves the island
Flocke will be "vulnerable". For what? who knows....
He wants to leave, did DHARMA leave something there
for his departure?
Or possibly his destruction? Hmmmm interesting.......
I'm open for suggestions.....

I think that now that MIB/Smokey has inhabited a Locke body, he is free to travel anywhere Locke could have. I believe that the smoke monster can't travel over or near water. That's why water has to be released for him to be "summoned" as we saw Ben do against the mercs.
Perhaps the Hydra station was so attractive for the others because it was underwater, and had protection from Smokey. All bets are off now that Smokey has a corporeal body.

I don't know why they would be going back. But you asked if they left something for their depature... Dharma didn't.
The others did though, they built the run way and you know Lapidus, he put that plane down safe. Just a thought that came to mind when reading this thread.

NotLocke was already on Hydra and knows there is an extremely large and pretty much undamaged airplane over on Hydra. That would be one guess.

The first time we saw NotLocke was when he was on Hydra, after 316 crashed. NotLocke and Ben took one of the outriggers over to the Island, I am assuming he will probably be taking one of them back to Hydra.

Hydra is the smaller island where 316 landed. The underwater station is The Looking Glass.

Hydra is the smaller island where 316 landed. The underwater station is The Looking Glass. The Hydra Station is also underwater. Remember when Jack was locked up in the room with the plexiglass wall and the intercom, and he asked Juliet "I'm assuming we're underwater?" And Juliet nodded her head? Jack also opened the hatch trying to escape and flooded the station.
Apparently Flocke can travel over water, so conceivably he can leave the island.
