Maybe in the sideways timeline, the man in black has already escaped the island...and while everything seems to be going decently for most of the characters in the sideways, maybe in the end we will find out the man in black has been unleashed into the world and all of their lives and everybodies on earth will soon become a living hell as hurley hinted at at the end of this episode. Maybe the sideways will show how important it is that they crashed on the island and will stop the man in black in the end,.

yea, this was pretty obvious. the island is holding MiB, so he convinces some time traveling idiots to blow up the island, and then he is free.

I find it interesting that the sideways is showing that some things are inevitable and others appear to be uncertain.
Locke for example apparently has a better relationship with his father, yet he is still paralyzed.
Jack had a poor relationship with his father and still had to go to Austrailia to retrieve his dead body, yet he has a different life with a child.
Sawyers parents died in the same fashion, yet he is living a different life.
We have not seen enough of Kate's sideways flash, something still has her on the run from the law, but we can't be sure that it is her killing her father.
I wonder if one of the underlying premises is that some things are pre-destined, yet other major things are influenced by our free will and decisions.

I get the idea we're supposed to see everyone is better without the island... that is until, maybe a few episodes from now, we see what happens in the flash sideways in a world where MIB is free. So this happy, better place for all (it seems) will suddenly become... hell. Furthering the importance of never letting him escape.
Just a theory. Could be completely wrong. Just like to throw them out there to provoke thought.

We hoping that the LA Losties don't have to go back to the Island yet again and attempt to fix something else so their future is more secure.
That would be ridiculous.

Or maybe jacob is lying ...and everyone's life when he's not interfering in them he's a lot better! And all MIB needed was a little love to regain the humanity Jacob took from him...
The first time we saw the flashsideways was just after Jacob died...

Yeah. I was thinking about the end where Jacob gave him the wine bottle, and he smashed it - as if to say: "If you can't uncork the bottle - just destroy the bottle itself."
So it seems like we have two possible outcomes, and it's come down to a question of which outcome will prevail?

That's a good interpretation!
WHen i saw the scene my thoughts were that Jacob poisoned the wine...
We get the white bottle who was supposed to cure Isabella...so the dark bottle to poison MIB made sense...
