Fox confirmed Friday that after eight seasons, 24 will air its series finale on May 24. Star Kiefer Sutherland told EW.com that producing a ninth season for another network like NBC was not an option because he and executive producer Howard Gordon were ready to call it quits.

Even though this season hasn't been anything special, I still look forward to watching some Jack Bauer on Mondays.

Though, in the article, they do mention the movie as a strong possibility!

Creatively, I think this was a smart decision. I love 24 and all the seasons (even 6 with the dumb family twist) but the formula is getting a little old and unpredictability and twists are what's predicted now. A movie could be sweet though.

I saw this earlier. That's too bad, but I think we could use some resolution to the Jack Bauer story. This season has been great though, I've really been loving it. Bauer's back to his old tricks
