Richard left the island and visited Locke after he was born. Before Locke ever came to the island. So unless Locke was born dead and grew up into an adult in the afterlife, only to die again after being already dead, this makes no sense at all.

I don't think the writers would do some cheap trick at the end. I think them themselves have even said the same that they wouldn't do that.

It should all be good.
