Yeah, it's amazing to think back to season 2 when Desmond and Jack were running in the stadium, and Desmond uttered this famous line. It goes to show that the producers knew where they were heading, as that early on they were already hinting at an alternate timeline.

Or they just made up this idea in between season 5 and 6. And it just happens to fit. There is no way they would have seen it. If they did, why then write Walt off just because he was growing.

And we thought they were just being clever with the Jack/Desmond hatch scene way back when with respect to that line.

Whether or not this was planned since season 2, it was very cool to see happen.

It made plenty of sense back when Jack and Des run into eachother again on the Island...
this is just an addition.

I'm with this! I had to write that down in my 'LOST notebook' (Oh come on, don't look at me like that. We're all geeks, I bet half of you have them).

Whether or not they knew where they were going way back in season two, it's still frickin' awesome! And there's a part of my mind that insists that the writers of LOST are Gods and know everything anyway, so I'm useless in a debate over when they actually figured out where they were going.

I never really thought the statement was literal...
