Will Ben find redemption or is he still manipulating the Losties?

A little of both.

I get the idea that Ben's on a mission to try to fix the consequences of the mistakes he's made.

And he'll do it until he keels over or completes it, come hell or high water.

Ben has never been evil, he was loyal to someone he saw as a higher power.

consider his actions along side of Jacks

Ben kills people, Dharma, Locke & many others.
Jack kills the air marshall, many Others & Dharma guards with a gun then explodes a nuke trying to kill everyone on the Island & change the future of the entire world. He also tried to kill John Locke.

why is Ben evil & Jack the hero?

Lets look at some of the things Ben needs to redeem himself for:

- kidnapping children
- shooting Locke
- strangling Locke
- ordering mikhail to kill charlie
- killing greta & bonnie
- killing goodwin
- killing michael
- killing ceasar
- killing 40 dharma workers
- shooting charlotte
- shooting desmond
- letting Alex get shot

I would say he's still evil.

Outside of what he did to Alex, Ben's worst, and possibly most psychopathic moment, was when he brought Juliet to see Goodwin's body. Love the character, but that's a tough moment to redeem, right there.

Where's the 'Not evil. Just protecting the island' option? ;)

I picked Death is at his doorstep regardless. I think his death will be the redemption of his character because he will do what is right. He has a lot to make up for but if he sacrifices himself for someone else, I would say he is no longer this evil man we paint him to be

You could add 'allowing the freighter to blow' to ANTIDEAD's list.

Ben acted as the leader of the people on the Island & believed he was following orders from a supernatural being, Jacob, who can grant immortality & your greatest wish. He see's Jacob as a Deity. Anything Ben did in Jacob's name defending the Island was justified because he was fulfilling his duty & simply defending their home & people, their soverieign nation in a legal respect. Just imagine he is President Obama & Jack Bauer all in one. The Island is where Ben set the law. Everyone has a right to defend their home.
& don't forget Ben returned to the Island seeking forgiveness & redemption.
