In "What Kate Does" there is this weird conversation between Kate, Aldo and Justin (the Others that are scouting her while she tries to find Sawyer).

Extract from the Lostpedia:

Justin suddenly grabs Kate, preventing her from tripping a wire hidden in the foliage which appears to be connected to one of Rousseau's old traps. Justin seems puzzled about this, exclaiming that Rousseau died "years ago," and is once again cut off by Aldo when he starts expounding on the origin of the trap. Kate demands to know what is Aldo trying to hide. Aldo becomes defensive and hostile

Any idea what Justin meant by that? Years ago?

I'm always a little wary of Lostpedia's paraphrasing, as it can often be inaccurate when compared with the episode transcript. However, that is was Justin said:

[They all look up to see a net full of rocks hanging from a tree.]
JIN: Looks like one of Rousseau's traps.
JUSTIN: The French woman? She's been dead for years. This, this couldn't be one ...
ALDO: Justin! Shut up!

Danielle died in December 2004. Justin was speaking in December 2007 after the Dharma Losties flashed back from 1977. That gives a gap of three years. Justin never struck me as being particularly bright, so he may simply have been exaggerating, or it could point to a larger time discrepancy.

Three years is years later, all years implies is that it is more than one. But I agree that Justin doesn't seem too bright and was probably using years rhetorically. I really don't think there is anything to this however.
