In this episode we are told the Cave of Life contains life, death and rebirth.
I think the Cave of Light was a marvellous metaphor for life, death and rebirth. Perhaps when castaways come to the island it is classed as their birth. Then they die like Dogen, Ana Lucia, Charlie etc. Then perhaps the alternative timeline is their rebirth? This would make sense considering that Juliet looked happy and delighted and talked about going dutch for coffee.
The Cave of Light is also a good metaphor for life and death. People who have near death experiences report being in a tunnel with a white shining light at the end of it. When babies are born they emerge from the birth canal and see a lot of light (presumably).
Are the Losties being reborn in the alt timeline when they die cos they all got a mega dose of that magic white light when Des turned the failsafe key?
Thoughts?
Cheers, Ana
