I know theres still a story to be told in the sideways, although does anyone think/hope some unanswered questions will be addressed in flashback form?

As confusing as it might be I'd like to actually SEE questions being answered instead of verbal revelations round a campfire

none. I think we are done with flashbacks. Only flash sideways, baby. That's where the story is now....

Unanswered:
What does all the Egyptian stuff have to do with anything?
Why does talking to Flocke allow him to kill you? Is this another rule that Jacob established off-screen?
How/why does the light on the island give a "caretaker" power over reality like this?
How did the woman who raised Jacob know anything about the island or its power?

THE most important one of ALL!

The Final image of LOST:
1982
Dr Chang rustling around the Orchid, sparks are flying...
"My God! It worked!! Can we bring her back?"

Off-screen voice: "Sir, the shift settings were false! She's more than 11 hours back!"
Chang: "What!!?? How far is she??"
Off-screen voice: "I...I don't...."
Chang: "The Date"?!??!

Voice: 3877 .....BC!!!!

Silence.......................

Chang: "I hope she remembers the rules..or God help us ALL!"

"Godspeed, Eve!"

"Shut it down!"

OK, THAT would go a long way towards allowing me closure. A great idea. For a long time, due to that video of the Dharmas getting freaked out when the bunny existed in two places at once, that Jacob in the shed was a scientist who suffered the bunny's fate and the result of occupying two spaces simultaneously turned him into what he was. Unfortunately, he turned out to be a 2000 year old really stupid guy with absolute power to make idiotic decisions..

They did something this season that I have sort of been expecting for awhile now. It was the hospital scene with Ilana all bandaged up when Jacob comes to visit her. We first saw that in The Incident. Then we saw a more fleshed out version of it in Ab Aeterno. But it appeared to be the same filming of it. As in, they filmed more than they needed for The Incident, then used more of that filming in the later episode.

That is what I was expecting. If they were ever going to prove they knew what they were doing from way back, it would be something along that line. Seeing the actors as they looked back when doing scenes that aren't used until now to fill out some of the unanswered questions. Something with young Walt would have been great for that. Kate looked younger back then (sorry E.L.).

I'm not getting paid for this stuff, so these probably won't be the greatest examples, but something along the lines of:

- We see Michael typing at the computer talking to Walt. This time we see it is actually Ben, glasses down his nose a bit, on the other end of that chat.

- Ben and Locke visit the cabin. Locke runs out. For just a few seconds, Ben continues to talk to whoever is there even though we still can't see them and Locke is no longer there to perform for.

- We see young Walt sleeping in that little boat him and Michael escaped in. He's talking in his sleep and seems to be whispering, "Shannon go back. Shannon go back". Just then a wave crashes over the side of the boat soaking Walt, as Michael swears in the background and turns the wheel. Flash to Shannon seeing Walt in her tent and in the jungle.

Anyway, I hope you get the idea. Stuff they had filmed in earlier seasons but planned on using only at the end. Those sort of flashbacks would be cool to me. But they might disrupt whatever other stories they try to tell at the same time, so I'm not sure how they would fit them in without it feeling like you're being jerked around.
