Since Jack is now the new Jacob, will he have the ability to heal? More specifically will he heal Kate's gunshot wound?

If Jacob had the power to heal, then Jack has the power to heal. They are the same now.

We've been led to believe he did. That he could cure cancer and we saw him wake Locke after he was thrown from the window. However, we dont really know what Jacob did to Locke, it looked almost like he was dead and he wasnt exactly healed. He still ended up in a wheel chair. And Ben is actually the one who said Jacob healed Juliets sister of cancer so we dont really know what happened or if Juliets sister was even actually cured.

He did make it to where Richard wouldn't age or die by natural causes. So in a since Richards aging process did heal.

I'll give you the moment when he touched Locke. I suspect he became a candidate then, and that's why he didn't die.

I don't know if we've been given any information to suggest that Jacob can heal, or if he's the guardian of the Island, and that's what does the healing.

I'm sure he must have some very interesting abilities, but we don't really know much about what he can do; he's always so passive.

I hope that'll be the case. It would be a good way out. Kate's bullet hole will be the first test, I guess. But he really wasn't given a rule book for how things work.

I think Jack got his "rule book" when he drank the cup of water......just as Jacob did when he drank from his cup 2000 years earlier.

True, so if Kate does get an infected wound or any of the others get hurt, he could make them ageless.

True and he healed his wife

Yeah it seemed as if some sort of knowledge passed when he drank from the cup and Jacob had the same kind of reaction. Plus Jacob didnt seem like the brightest cave light on the island until after he became the island guardian.

Jack certainly has the power to make someone immortal, just as Jacob did, but I suspect it is a power that Jack would hesitate to use. As Richard discovered, immortality isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

Jack said he really didn't feel any different. Didn't seem like there was any new knowledge.

So If I'm Jack, I immediately go to Hurley, Sawyer, & Kate and give them the "magic touch". Bingo! They can not be killed. Take that fLocke.

True, Mother seemed done and Jacob didnt really seem to put up a fight, they all seemed ready. Immortality being a curse is a theme in many supernatural stories, vampire stories being the most prominent. I'd have to give it a try though.

They only issue I can envision that might cause me to change my mind is if I ended up stuck as an immortal IT worker, stuck in my cubicle forever. That would indeed be a curse.

Jack may realize this but he might also realize that if he doesnt "turn" someone he will be alone forever.

Exactly and its not like they have cable on the island. He's gonna need some peeps to hang with.

I am not sure I want to confuse "feel" with "know". Just because Jack might have all of the "guardian's knowledge" now does not mean that he feels different.

No doubt it would be tempting to use that power to grant immortality. Still, Jack is such a good soul......I think he would hesitate. I guess this is going to be left to our imaginations.
