In looking back on this show I have come to realize that it's stregnth is in raising good questions and not in hvaving good answers. If you have the answer, then what? You are done. But a good question........ it is like a flower, it grows and grows and gets infinitly more interesting. So here are some musings on the joy of the question

There is frequently more to be learned from the unexpected questions of a child than the discourses of men.
John Locke (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/j/johnlocke387232.html)

You mustn't always believe what I say. Questions tempt you to tell lies, particularly when there is no answer.
Pablo Picasso (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/p/pablopicas403677.html)

Judge a man by his questions rather than his answers.
Voltaire (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/v/voltaire100338.html)

You don't want a million answers as much as you want a few forever questions. The questions are diamonds you hold in the light. Study a lifetime and you see different colors from the same jewel.
Richard Bach (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/r/richardbac125839.html)

Life is an unanswered question, but let's still believe in the dignity and importance of the question.
Tennessee Williams (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/t/tennesseew388723.html)

The most interesting thing in the world is another human being who wonders, suffers and raises the questions that have bothered him to the last day of his life, knowing he will never get the answers.
Will Durant (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/w/willdurant162217.html)

The questions don't do the damage. Only the answers do.
Sam Donaldson (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/s/samdonalds162209.html)

That's where I began to ask questions that maybe don't have one specific answer. And the more people you get answers from, the richer the environment becomes.
John Zorn (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/j/johnzorn330001.html)

Thank you for creating this rich environment.

That's exactly what makes LOST so unique. It makes raises questions like "what's the meaning of life" and y'know what? It doesn't have the conceit to try to tell us. In fact, it tells us that nobody knows the answer and anyone who claims they do is wrong. Instead it encourages us to draw our own conclusions and figure out our own sense of purpose.

I thought the most brilliant move Darlton made in the entire series was making the mysteries of the Island essentially the same as the mysteries of life. Some might view it as a cop out, but as far as I know, such a move is incredibly rare even in the best literature and it's almost never been executed so deftly.
