A nice twist in the series might be to have Simon succeed in shutting down the firing device only to have another GBO happen anyway. Flosso did get Lloyd to cough up the power required and other information when his son was threatened so perhaps further GBOs might be triggered from some secret location and might now be independent from NLAP.

If the next GBO were to happen precisely at 10pm it might be much safer now to survive it. After this one people would get the hint that the flashforward vision time itself was a forewarning of the next (as in dominoes) and therefore be prepared for it and survive it. The rings would then be redundant as a protection. I do see however that the formula will be completed and that would have been all that would be necessary for Dyson (alive in the past) to endlessly steal it from the future and build the first ring we saw him make six months before Oct. 6, 2009. The pursuit of the cabal would still happen in the series but the danger to millions of lives would not be their guiding purpose as the GBOs are in themselves warnings of future ones to be better prepared for. I still see the repeating GBOs as a method to alter the consciousness of the world's human population and to save it from a cyclic time prison.

Once the formula has been put together (tonight at around 10pm) it will then be too late to stop the cycle once it becomes part of the past. The only chance Mark really had of stopping the GBOs was to shoot Lloyd before tonight, lol. That would have retrocausally denied Dyson from stealing it.
