A few episodes back Jack went to see Bernard and Bernard seem to act rather strange. I think it's very possible Bernard already knew about what was happening with the afterlife.

Jimmy Kimmel showed a clip from the season six premier. One of Rose's first lines to Jack was "You can let go now."
