How did Danielle know the others were coming BEFORE the black smoke was seen?

Why is she showing up to help now?
She has seemed pretty disinterested in interacting with the flight 815 survivors up to now. Even downright hostile. Trapping and torturing Sayid, booby-trapping her hideout, shooting at Hurley and Charlie. Has she been spying on them? She found her way to their beach camp, how long has she known where they are? Did she want to watch them for signs of the sickness before coming out in the open? Did she know about the baby and therefore assume that the others would be coming?

Does she want the baby? or want to protect it?
Is she helping? or leading some of the stronger members of the group away from the action?


The scratches like Ethan's and spoilers running rampant about Claire having seen her before would suggest she played some role in her abduction and/or rescue. If all she wants is the baby I would figure she'd stay close to camp and try to get Claire alone.

Another unexpected thing for me was that Danielle leads a march right into the Dark territory, I had expected this to be where the others would be coming from. So where are the others coming from?

While watching them all walk to the Dark Territory I was thinking, "Man I hope Locke is watching out for an ambush....maybe Danielle has ulterior motives and she is in Cahoots with the "Others" Maybe she is leading them into a trap.

How did she know that after the raft left they had 40 survivors to hide..was she hiding in the bushes counting them all?

Excellent question. She said her team met the others 'coming back from the Black Rock'. She also said 'the others' controlled the radio tower and that was by the Black Rock....and that she would try to 'make it to the Black Rock'. It seemed she mentioned other more 'sinister' things in the same sentence as 'the Black Rock' but I don't think she actually said it was something 'bad' in and of itself.

My husband suggested that the "others" go "hunting" and light the black smoke on a regular basis, perhaps on a certain time of the month, or at the beginning of monsoon season every year? Danielle knew it was about time.

I would bet that she also has been spying on the camp for quite some time.

If she indeed helped Claire, which I think is likely, then perhaps she is like their guardian angel.

My question is why don't any of them assume that the others are actually living in hatch? Maybe not that particular point, but if they assume there are more under ground passage ways, wouldn't that be the likely place the others are coming from?

good questions! What I wanna know is, how' does she know they need to "run, hide or die. " especially die. There were only 6 people in her party. According to her she killed them, yet says on the transmission "it killed them all". She herself was not killed when they found her and took her alleged baby girl . It doesn't add up right to me.

I took it to mean the sickness killed them all because they became infected and she was forced to kill them because of it. Aside from what the others are, I'm really interested in see what this sickness is.

Another thing I was thinking about was when Danielle had captured Sayid he specifically asked her, "You have seen others on this island?" Now that is almost word for word, and her response was, "No, but I've heard them."

Now my question is, if she hasn't seen anyone then who came and took her baby? How does she know they are coming? Does this lady smoke a lot of crack?

Something I thought I might point out.

Maybe they snuck up and snatched the baby while she was busy shooting all her companions.

Quick question. Has Danielle ever stated that she delivered the baby at 9 months? She said she was 7 months pregnant when they landed on the island. Could it be that "the others" did to Danielle what they attempted to do to Claire, which was to stick a needle in and somehow do something to the baby? This is all theory, but what if that needle was full of some sort of anesthetic to numb the victim, while the person takes the child by c-section or some other method? *shudders* What if Alex was "taken" this way?

Danielle said she had one week with her baby and they came and took her. I, also, wondered how they took her when Danielle said she had never seen them. Me thinks Danielle is lying somewhere in there. Also, my current theory du jour is that Danielle is working with the Others now. They bargained that if she gets them Claire's baby, she can have Alex back. I don't know why. Or how. It's all I got.
