I think the creators, namely Abrams and Lindelof are guilty of this big time.

They totally overhyped this show with all their pre-show interviews

PLUS they LOADED it down with commercials. Not an enjoyable 2hrs to be sure.

They will start losing viewers, just read the forums and see as many as half the viewers were disappointed.

Goodwill (on the part of the viewers) was lost on LOST tonite.

Do they have new writers? Did they pick them up from some other dropped show?? Judging Amy?

Bring back the quality of the first half of the season!!

I actually expected to be let down because I read spoilers and interviews, but I personally loved the finale. I think part of the reason is that my main concern isn't "What's in the hatch?" or "What is the monster?", but the interactions between the characters. Having the big picture of who all the passangers were before the plane was very interesting.

Although, I admit, I'm dying to know the significance of Jin's watch and what happened to my Sawyer.

Now Desperate Housewives was a big letdown after the hype.

Every tv show creator gives interviews about their show. Its called press. Its not their fault you overload your brain by reading them all and building up your expectations.

We all werent lied to, people just lied to themselves. Abrams and Lindlelof gave us some clues, but every spoiler hungry fan out there is who made the hype so huge. When you read into spoilers and speculation so much you start to forget what was actually said, and what was just speculated, and once you see the real thing yeah youll ultimately be dissapointed. I LOVED the season finale, cant wait till fall!

Yeah, all those spolier-hungry fans going on and on about how the cliffhanger was a "who shot J.R. moment" and that it would demand to be talked about all summer, it's really all your fault.

If you'd asked the writers, they would have told you the show wouldn't reveal anything and the cliffhanger would be anti-climatic and hackneyed.

Will you people please leave those poor writers alone!

ur thread title sums up perfectly the arguments that will go on here for the next 4 months.

my vote is overpromised.

but not by the creators. they hyped it up as is there job because they were really happy with what they did. and personally a 3 hour finale packed with surprises, deaths, revelationsand all of that is like (to me) accomplishing making a movie. but with some even harder challenges and way less money.

if i was responsible for having made that finale i'd be hyping it up like crazy too. they don't live on this site and don't know what the expectatoins are

the overpromise comes from the internet hype not them

and loading it with commercials? hardly the show's fault. they made a 2 and a half hour finale as was their requirement and abc decided to stretch it to 3 hours. obviously the had to put a bi tmore footage in but abc loaded it down with commercials. the show and it's creators have zero to do with that or when the show goes on hiatus and comes back

I think the finale was among the best of the season and one of the best ever for a rookie show. there was a lot more i could've asked for, but that doesn't mean it was bad. in a show with as many options as this, u can literally ask for (or expect) ANYTHING. If one takes that viewpoint, they will always be let down.

Myself? I am completely happy that they didnt let the cat out of the bag because I can almost say without a shadow of a doubt that all those who said "im not going to watch this next season cause this finale sucked" are going to watch at least the first episode of season 2 just to see if they answer those questions which were not answered this season. *Makes sense?

But more to the point, I am happy that they didnt answer any questions, primarily the ones regarding The Others, The Hatch, The Numbers and The Walt because what would keep us talking over the next few months in agonizing wait? Mr Joe Blow will say "We will talk about what would happen next on the island", but thats not as fun as talking about WHAT the hatch leads to, WHAT really is the monster, and WHAT does Walt really have to do in the scheme of things. *It also seems that the makers seem to only want this show to go for a few seasons (ehich is not necessarily a bad thing) and if that wasnt the case what else could possibly happen to these poor folks on an abondend island? I only say this because that is what looks like is happening considering the pace they are unravelling the story. *But I spose I can be completely wrong and will only find out next season if they introduce a new MAJOR story arc.

I apologise if this all makes no sense but it has given me the chance to express my thoughts out in the open.

In the end its like what I said above, I was etremely happy with the way things ended!

Personally, it felt like a normal ep, and as such it was a good ep.

But it did not pack the punch of a finale.

And no, it WAS the creators that over-hyped the show.

They said we would talk all summer. And it looks like the convo will be about whether the show lived up to the hype!!

It was NO "who shot JR" moment at all.

Thank you eddy, Let me tell yall something here...LOST is the greatest show ever. There hasn't been a poor episode and all you who have these crazy, unrealistic and unsatisfiable expectations should just pull the big d*ck out of your *ss and chill out. For one I bet you couldn't do anything close to being as good as LOST is, and secondly if you don't like it stop watching and wasting my time writing your crappy opinions on a board where no one even cares what your opinion is in the first place. Get over yourself.

You're very wrong.....I dont know where you have been for the past few months, but thats exactly what the writers said. That it would be a "Who shot J.R. moment", and would be talked about all summer.

I mean do you really not remember them saying those exact words??

I think that bit on the raft IS a "who shot J.R. Moment."

Certainly it wll have the fans of the show pounding their heads trying to figure out what will happen to our poor raftees.

As season ending cliffhangers go, this is right up there in the Pantheon of GREAT cliffhangers.

I'm sorry SoxGirl I never meant to offend you I just get pissed off sometimes because some people are so into the show that they come on here and post messages and those messages are just negative input that wastes others time.

Now granted I have wasted a lot of my time today arguing with people on a posting board about a TV show but at least I'm not posting completly idiotic messages about a show that I watch and really like just to be a pain in the ***. And I'm not saying you were doing that I am just saying it seams like the fusealge has recently been invaded by operation dumb *ss.

Sorry for that last one I could have used a different name such as operation what are you talking about, that made no sense at all.

And Eazy that's what I've been saying it's a TV show, everyone is complaining because not every issue was answered with a scientifically proven fact. ITS A TV SHOW, if they answered all the questions last night with proven for sure answers then what would season 2 be?/
