since Born to Run, I now realize how male-centric the writing team is...so I thought I would provide a little tip...if Kate bleached her hair blonde, as we saw at the beginning of Born to Run, the brunette bottle job she applied would not last long...once you bleach your hair, you rupture the cuticle and leach out all the pigment...any color you apply after bleaching does not stay for long, unless you first apply a filler, as the color has no way to remain in the hair...her brunette would have faded away by now and she would have terrible dark roots coming in, with lighter ends...just a little tip from the continuity department of the Lost board...

had a thought though just now. What if her blonde was just a temp color and she washed it out and her hair color is truly dark....they could say that is why. It's just a thought.

experienced hair colorer here...you can't temp bleach...no way you can go that blonde with a temp color that just coats your hair...and to lighten you hair to that extent, you need alot of bleach...the brunette wouldn't stay long...trust me on this...only time I was a little bugged about something in this show...then again, we have to accept some things just being so in tv-land....

I'm a natural brunette who went blonde and now is attempting to go back to brunette...which is how I know how difficult it is...my color keeps fading...smart girl, stick to highlights

When they show Kate coloring her hair in BTR, it years prior to the crash on the island. So if her hair is naturally brown, the bleached portion would have grown out by the time of the crash.

It was probably at least a year or two before the crash because all the events of the flashbacks in WTCMB and TR still need to happen, and it seems like there's a good few months between them. Though I don't think we can specify the exact amount of time between them.

When the marshal was telling the Australian official about Kate's childhood sweetheart getting killed while on the run with her, he said it happened a couple of years ago.

My quibble is she only had one box of hair coloring. For hair that long she should have had a least two boxes!

My issue is that the blonde hair looked so incredibly like a bad Halloween wig!! lmao!

Can we factor in the fact that she's on an island and that would change the colour of her hair to be lighter and such as well? *shrugs*

I know! And really I guess I shouldn't be saying anything because it is a TV show, but how do they always look so perfect!? They could make them a little messy sometimes, and I don't really think anyone would mind.

How long would it take her eyebrows to regrow? I thought that if they were plucked often enough that they never regrow, at least not to their natural (pre-plucked) state anyway.

I thought she was washing the blonde out and she is truely dark. I thought she put something on her hair to make it come out easier.
