Did anyone else think of the lyrics to the song "Beyong the Sea' while Sun was standing on the beach looking out during Exoduse 2?

I did. I didn't know whether to fee sad or hopeful about it. The song is about someone who hopes to be reunited with his lover someday...but until then he has to wait.

Also when she was trying to convince Claire that she would get her baby back that perhaps she was thinking of herself and Jin when she said "he will do what he promised!" as if she is trying to convince herself that Jin would return.

Just some observations...

Yeah I can really see how that song could refer to Sun's plight...

I think probably most of these pop culture references that come up on Lost can be applied to several different characters and situations on the show...and it's interesting to see what you make of them.

I always find songs like that to be really bittersweet. I mean it's hopeful because the person is longing for somebody that they seem to believe they'll see again...and yet it's very sad because there's this real sense from the song that they're not with them NOW and there are no guarentees that their dreams of being together will come true.

It always reminds me of "I'll be home for Christmas". At first listen it sounds like a nice thought...but then you realize it's about some guy who is away from his loved ones on the holiday's and he's dreaming of being with them...even if it happens "only in his dream"

Now I'm rambling....lol...but I just find songs where people are hoping and longing to be together to be really upsetting..

I felt really sad for Sun in any event.

It is a bittersweet song. I think I remember reading somewhere that the English lyrics were the words to pay attention to for this program...it would sooo fit with Sun and Jin.

She has already started being very busy. She had a lot on her plate with helping Claire when Aaron was taken, getting her and Shannon to the caves, telling Shannon positive things about how Boone died so she "might" feel better, trying to convine Claire that Charlie would get Aaron back for her and just being there for everyone else. She hasn't had time to miss Jin----yet! :(

I want to go on record as being a Sun fan. She one of the charactors I like on the show.
I think that if TPTB go with the survivors start to "build" a society that she'll be instrumental in it. I mean the girl"s done started a garden,eh?! Making tea for everybody and just being there to help when ever possible. She may be tiny,but she comes across as a rock.

I find Sun's character to be the most complex of the women. Kate is all about the fugitive thing, Shannon is just the spoiled brat that gets away with everything and Claire, well, she is complex as well, just not as much as Sun. Claire has a very "odd' background with the psyic, the baby and her own demons that haunt her about how good a mother she is/can be. However, Sun is frought with diverse comcerns. She is not sure where her and Jin stabd on the relationship as a whole. They may have reconcilled, but there are issues that need to be worked as well. Sun also has the advantage of knowing English. However, Jin does not(he is learning), and he might see her keeping that from him as a way of communicating with those that he cant. he might feel that she is making fun of him when she is talking in English.. There are many more ways that she is complex, but I dont have the next 3 hours to try an detail them. 8)

I agree w/ u. I think she can be like Sayid who sees both ways. With one aspct she agrees w/ Jack, like about medical issues and all thaqt stuff. And in another she garees with Locke, about fate and that type of stuuf. And that is just like sayid. He always listens to both parts of the stories before he commits to anything. And a perfect example of that would be with Danielle. When they were chasing her, Charlie said she was colmpletely mad and insane, but Sayid stood up for her and said that she's a mother who lost her child and is trying to retain her, so don't judge her based on that!!! and i agree with Sayid. He is a very clever man like Locke.

And as for the thread, i think it's a great idea. lol. Describing the Goddess in the heavenly sky!!

I have felt some arrogant tones from Naveen not so much as Sayid. I like Sayid a lot actually, the only thing that has bothered me about his character is his association with Shannon. Those scenes really don't seem all that natural to me, even though it has been said they have some chemestry. I flunked Chem so what do I know.
I also think the arrogance is a result of confidence in both the character and the actor.

Just how arrogant was that to grab Charlie around the thraot like that when Charlei hit him? Sayid is supposed to be all rational, but he doesn't even consider that grabbibg Charlie by the throat like that could swell up memories about what happened woth Ethan. Chalire was hung and then grabbed by the throat by Ethan twice. Sayid could have just grabbed Charlies arms behind him and told him not to hit him again. He had to know that Charlie was going out of his mind about Aaron being taken and trying to care for Claire. Sayid overreacted by grabbing Charlie's throat. That was arrogant to me because it showed that he didn't even care what that action might have done to Charlie's mental state. >:(

I don't know, that didn't strike me as a throat grab. It seemed more of Sayid holding charlie back at the collarbone. Sayid clearly showed restraint from hitting back, as I have said before, a lesser man would have pummeled little Charlie. But given the circumstances what would that have accomplished? I think Sayid did the right thing by stopping Charlie and directing him to a path of solution and not vengance and he did so WITHOUT violence.

I just dont see why Charlie was in the wrong here. Sayid acts like he is the only one that can protect a girl. Claire is EVERYTHING to Charlie right now(and Aaron too). Sayid has Shannon to have to babysit. He needs to understand where Charlie is comming from on this. Did Sayid not draw a gun on Locke in defense of Shannon for what he did to Boone? ::) Sayid--pot meet kettle!

Shannon - well, she's shannon. anybody can play shannon. she's the spoiled one who eventually learns 2 be nice and gets her ideals and morals eventually

But hopefully next season she'll get bumped up to Main Actor!!! Her character has evolved so much since we last saw her. She's a genuine actress and portrays Sun so incredibly well. it's 2 bad that Kate gets all the attention!! well, it makes sense b/c her character has had 3-freakin'-centric episodes!! lolol. lolol. I find Sun's backstory more interesting and realistic than Kate's. (well, except that her father is like in the mob lol)
But i find her relationship with Jin to be realistic. Many relationships are like that but at the saame time they share s/t unique. I'm not quite sure right now what it is but it's there. They have that spark!

I was wondering about that as well. I don't think they left in one big group...I think they were leaving in little groups and perhaps the group Sayid was leading were people who had never ventured to the caves.... ??? I suppose its possible. They have only been there about a month and there are noises in the jungle and polar bears and wild boars and people being kidnapped..so perhaps some people were just too afraid to leave the beach...

Danielle is quite sneaky. She probably waited until the 'opportune' moment when no one was looking to hit Claire and do her snatch and grab. Maybe she waited until it looked like everyone but Claire was on their way. I can only assume that since Sun has been helping Claire out recently that she went back to do a final check to see if there was anyway she could help.

I take it as everyone is frantically trying to get their stuff together and get to the caves that they might not have noticed Danielle was confronting Claire. It is possible that NO ONE was at that very spot, at that very moment when she took Aaron. People were all over the place preparing to leave. Just my 2 cents. 8)

One thing is clear is that Sun will stay by Jack's side because he is the one that Jin told her to stick with while he was gone. Sun has already been working with Jack when it came to Boone and she is kind of "nurse watching" over Claire and Aaron. I dont think that Sun will go against what Jin said about Jack now that they have made up. She likes Jack anyway. :)

And they only talked briefly about that in the finale, when Kate was talking with Jack about after all these issues pass that she should stick with him and not Lcoke....

I think what the spoiler actually said was that by the end of Season 1

the stage would be set for a divide...one headed by Locke and the other by Jack. In other words the division was to start at the end of Season 1 which it did. We should see the actual dividing up of sides by Season 2.

ooo, that would make more sense lol. But i don't see this "divide" happening until all these problems are all cleared up and that won't happen for a long long time!!! The rafters are gonna return eventually!! They're gonna discover the tail section survivors!!! They're gonna send a rescue team to go and get Walt!!So, there are so many things that still have to be resolved so i don't see this divide happening until maybe te end of season 2 or beginning of season 3!!!!
