I'll be surprised (and a little disappointed with the writers) if they rescue Walt in the 1st few episodes of the 2nd season. I'm also wondering if, when they get him back, he'll be played by an older actor who wont age so noticably.

I strongly suspect that he isn't coming back, ever, or at least for a long while. This may be the writers' solution to the problem of the actor's aging. (They have said in interviews that they had one.)

I think this is their solution. Either they have to speed up the Lost time line or they have to get rid of Walt. As long as they don't do a mystical aging explanation. :)

I don't think he will be rescued for a while, but it may show little scenes with him and the Others

At least mid season. I remember JJ saying that two will be missing at the end of season 1, one won't come back at all and it will be a while before the other one comes back. I think that's a refrence to Arnzt and Walt.

I've also been thinking Walt would be gone half the season.

For at least the rest of the season possibly? It opens up new areas though. We have 4 different locations next season. The raft scene, Walt and the Others, the beach, and the hatch. So a lot of jumping going around...I would be surprised if we got Walt back by the end of next season. It all makes for interesting storylines and hopefully not the same people all the time...although it is hard on a tv show...I hope ya'll catch my drift.

I don't think we'll see any of Walt with his captors. We didn't see any of Claire with Ethan.
