Sorry guys, I think I tripped everyone up a bit. I renamed some of the pages, including the home page and I've gotten a flood of emails ever since! :lol2: The site is not down. Just check the URL's on your favorite pages and re-bookmark them if necessary. As I work out my computer problems at home, I will be rebuilding quite a few of the pages and sections. ;D

Mrs.beck i have a question about the Friday Five. Ok I'm still a little nervous 2 ask Ian a question but if i hit the submint button, what happens after that? Thats* my question.

Your question ends up in my website inbox and I add it to one of the F5 folders. Then each week I take 5 of the questions and send them on to Ian. He answers them and sends them back. I update the site and we do it all again the following week.

Nothing at all to be nervous about. ;D

krazy1
06-12-2005, 01:40 AM
Do you ever ask him more than 5 questions? I'm just wondering if you do and then pick the best 5 for that week and put the other answers in the following weeks 5 or do you just stick to the 5? Ian is the best for doing this for his fans. :) Some stars just think they are above that sort of thing, but not OUR Ian! ;)

mrsbeck
06-12-2005, 10:00 AM
It's funny that when we started I had a hard time getting 5 questions in each week, now it's hard picking just 5 each week. But yes, I only send him five each week, which is why we are often late if Ian's work schedule keeps him busy or if he (or I) can't get to a computer on Friday.

Not that I couldn't save answers and use them for another time - I just don't. I just like the idea of sending something that week and getting his answer that week. Feels more honest to me and I like how his moods change, his silliness, etc... We catch a lot of Ian's personality through the Friday Five. I think we'd miss a lot of that if we did it any other way.

There really isn't anything to be nervous about. :) Just think of something you'd like to know about him and send it in or PM it to me.

No, nervous is when you've had a baby, you're struggling with PPD and you still have a ton of baby weight to lose. Nothing in your closet fits, nothing looks right and you'll be spending the day with one of the best looking guys on the planet. Which you don't want to give up for anything because it happens so rarely. But you really, really don't want to see him because, well, you look like absolute crap and you don't want him to see you that way. That is Nervous! :o :lol2:

I know nothing of Charmed though, so I wouldn't have the first clue about the other guy.* I've had three different sets of old modeling pics sent to me this week and they're all of pictures that people think are of Ian from like 10 years ago.* There are some pictures where it's really hard to tell and I end up having to ask Ian.* I feel totally silly doing that, but sometimes it's the only way.

I haven't heard about this yet. I'll have to ask Ian. Take anything about Ian that comes from IMDB with a grain of salt though. There is a group of guys that frequent that site that absolutely hate him and just will not get over it. They spread lies like you wouldn't believe. ::)

Andrea
06-15-2005, 10:54 PM
Oh, I know, I've seen them. I honestly think it's the same guy posting under 3 or 4 aliases. I've seen him on every message board dedicated to male celebrities, Lost, or Ian himself known to mankind. He always says the same thing. Over and over and over. It's kind of freakish and obsessive.

But no, this person just registered today on imdb, and was very excited about the news, and said Ian was gorgeous. It looked like a PR plant. :P

I still gotta write you back about that thing. With the thing.

Oh, if you read the rants, they are so irrational and repetitive that it's obviously got nothing to do with anything Ian himself has said or done; it's just that this person has unfortunately chosen Ian as his negative fixation/ target.

I hope that new film rumor turns out to be true. =)

The naysayers are going to be disappointed that Ian will not give them the negative response they are looking for. They cant push his hot button the way they can some other actors. Ian is NOT Russell Crowe(thats a good thing), and wont go all anger manangement on the press and other idiots like Crowe does. Ian has WAY TOO much class to do that. :)

Back when Smallville first came on Entertainment Weekly ran this picture of Tom Welling that looked so much like Ian it was scary. Even my husband was like "isn't that your actor dude?"

Andrea

Thanks MrsBeck =)

I think Ian looks a lot like Wes Bentley in some shots. Ian is better looking but (don't hurt me y'all) Wes is more my type. =) Incidentally they were both thrown around as names for "who should play a young Bruce Wayne" in the Smallville fandom a couple of years ago. I think they could pass for brothers.

http://www.celebritypicturesarchive.com/pgs/w/wes-bentley/wes-bentley-pictures.htm

ETA: Tom Welling does NOTHING, I mean NOTHING for me, I think he's beady eyed and fish lipped, and I think Ian is *exponentially* better looking than Tom is. Acting wise, Tom Welling is (er, usually) competent in his limited role as Clark Kent, but Ian S. can act circles around him.

I kind of felt like that when I saw Armageddon. Although Ben Affleck was nice to look at, I was more drawn to how hot Owen Wilson was. I also find Owen to be a better actor. He has such a gift for comic timing.

Andrea
06-18-2005, 03:30 PM
No, I meant this spread. (http://www.livejournal.com/users/dryope/140571.html#cutid1) Please note, those pictures contain some nudity and graphic sexuality, and while I think it's artfully done, please don't click if you're underage. Thanks.

mrsbeck, you have a few of these in your galleries, I'm assuming she declined your adding her versions =) What I think is interesting about that spread is its visual extremism and the relationship it builds between their subject matter and us as viewers. The stark contrasts, the lighting, the extreme features/ body of the woman make it all a little surreal and jarring. Its perspective is very unusual too. Traditionally, in art, women are the reclining, passive, inviting sex object to the viewer in pictures like these. In this particular shoot, there's a naked woman in almost every picture, but she's almost... incidental. The sexually charged focus of the pictures is Ian himself. The naked woman is almost just another accessory. She is never allowed to look at the camera head-on; she is faceless in a lot of them, has her eyes closed, is in profile, etc., but Ian's looking right at the camera in almost every picture.

A lot of his poses in that spread, and a lot of the angles from which they are photographed, put the viewer in the role of being physically dominant over him, which isn't something you see outside of heterosexual pornography (with women as the focus) and depictions of women as sexual objects. The woman is thoroughly, but purposefully IMHO, objectified in those pictures, and by association they serve to objectify Ian's sexuality too. They're especially unusual in that the "gaze" of the viewer in photos where there is a partially clothed man and a fully unclothed woman is usually assumed to be male (hence the ubiquity of reclining naked women in porn and art). Is this, then a work of homoerotica, where the subjects are putting on a show for the male viewers despite the fact that the woman is completely naked? (Flaunt is certainly a publication with a male-heavy subscriber base). Or is it intended to have women as the viewer and switching up traditional photographic gender roles, which makes it a very radical photo spread? It's just a really interesting work of paradoxes and oxymorons; I think it's probably the most interesting thing I've ever seen Ian do as a model.

The least interesting is this Versace spread (http://www.iansomerhalder.net/Pictures/Versace/Versace.htm) but I'll save that for another day. =)

The UK Glamour outtakes are adorable because they show his personality a lot. They're very candid for a photo spread and those are always fun. This (http://www.iansomerhalder.net/Pictures/GG2005/GG2005gg.htm) is still my all time favorite picture of Ian, though, because he is, like, three and a half sheets to the wind in that one (Exhibit B! (http://www.iansomerhalder.net/Pictures/GG2005/GG2005t.htm)), and just walking about, waving around Maggie's purse.

No, it says, Ian will be the star of Jerry Bruckheimer's (PotC, CSI) new TV show "Fearless". It's not really easy to read, though.

@ mrsbeck: I can't thank you enough for "Ian then some"! But you already know what a huge fan I am, don't you? ;) (that is, if you got my e-mails... you did get them, right?) Ya know, half of the female supermodels cant have the camera love them like Ian does. :)

I am really tired of how women are always the naked ones in pics like this. I am NOT gay, so this kind of pissed me off that I couldn't enjoy Ian as much as I would have liked to. >:( I wish women would stop letting other people tell them they have to get naked to stay in the industry. This has been a thorn in my side for many years. As a straight woman, I would have rather seen Ian naked. ;D But, alas, the tribe of men have spoken! ::)

Andrea
06-19-2005, 04:43 PM
The model's nudity isn't as jarring as her extreme look is. A lot of people have commented on how gaunt and angular she was, but truly, I think that was on purpose. Especially the one where she's leaning back and all her ribs are showing... I think it was purposeful that she look shockingly gaunt and unsexy. She's not the sexually charged subject of the photos, after all.

Flaunt has a bunch of really amazing celebrity spreads. There's a gallery of them somewhere on the 'net. I'll have to Google.

Note to Flaunt:* Next time some needs to show some skin, let it be Ian.* Let the girl stay home.* Okay?* Okay.* *;D

And that is exactly what I was saying in my last post. I want to see Ian, not some objectified nekked woman. ::)

Artistic, edgy, different...all of those things are good. Just in that particular case I wasn't that crazy about it. I preferred the shots of Ian alone (especially the ones of him in white.) Maybe, it was the voice in my head going "oh boy, this is going to be interesting to have to post" coloring my perception first, who knows? I just prefer the ones with Ian alone.
