When Sayid threw the apple to Sawyer at the end; did anyone think, "An apple a day, keeps the doctor away." It might've been a passive aggressive attempt by Sayid to agitate Sawyer after the heated incident between Jack and Sawyer over the marshall shooting mishap. Sayid could've been sticking it to Sawyer about his mess up, but on the other hand it could've been an olive branch for a truce.

I actually thought about the apple in the garden of eden.

I think it was an "olive branch". It has also been mentioned in another thread that when Sayid offered Jack his assistance, he may have been thinking about euthenasia too and that by giving Sawyer the fruit he was signaling his support for Sawyer's actions as well as a piece offering.

I thought this as well.* Sayid no longer thought him simply as the selfish jerk.* He also saw how much the mishap affected Sawyer.* It was in the bright of the NEXT day and Sawyer still looked tragically affected by it as if it took place minutes ago.

Everyone is misguided in some form or fashion, but what an island full of great guys.* :-** I wouldn't mind knowing all of them if they were real life people and I've never said that about TV people before. lol

Your comment got me to thinking ... Sawyer's attempt to end the marshals; suffering had completely opposite effects on his relationship with Jack and his relationship with Sayid. In that one moment he gained a bit of respect and maybe even forgiveness from Sayid and lost Jack's respect and made Jack and Sawyer's relationship even more tense and strained.
The writers on this show really are amazing!
