What if MICHAEL is the main character who is projected to die this season? He is the only one on the show wearing a RED SHIRT ha ha.

But seriously.

This has the potential to create conflict on two fronts not to mention make life harder for the castaways. Michael is the only one so far that can build things and might give the castaways a technical advantage against the "others." Without him, they might as well fight with stone knives. And forget about getting off the island.

If Jin suspects something is going on between Sun and Michael, think how he'd feel if Michael dies and Sun takes in Walt. This can provide the catalyst for Sun and Jin to work out their problems, but with missteps along the way. She'll exercise her right as an equal partner in the relationship and he'll learn to love more than just Sun and himself. Sun will regain her self respect and Jin's respect and Jin will regain his passion for Sun and compassion for others.

Michael warned Locke and Jin to stay away from his son. Walt is gravitating toward Locke. If Michael dies, Jin could be a counter against Locke. Perhaps Jin did something bad and as Walt grows on him, he might see the young man repeating the error of his ways and try counseling him. I can see a possible confrontation between Locke and Jin. So far Mike can't handle Locke, but maybe Jin can.

I thought his shirt was more of an orange color, but maybe that's just my old tv?

I believe he's worn an orange and a red one.

I think if it were to be Michael it would pose a lot of problems. I'm hoping that it's not going to be him though.

Just cuz he's wearing a red shirt doesn't mean he's gonna die.

Maybe he's a blood. Straight outta Compton yo!

I would be incredibly upset if Michael died. His character has so much potential and Walt needs him. I think hope that the writers will want to explore Michael more fully. He has untapped potential that would make him a useful ally and a possible leader.

That island is full with white people.

They shouldn't get rid of the minorities first.

Spoiler tags: People are already talking about Jin dying. If Michael dies too, that would leave Walt, Sun, the Older Black Woman(Can't remember her name), and maybe some that I can't remember. I say we keep the minorities.

AJ (can I all you AJ from now on?)--
I can't remember which movie joked that black people are always the first to die in horror/suspense movies--was it it Scary Movie or one of the Screams ??? ? I don't think that logic applies here or anymore but just in case, "Run Michael, Run!"
*Disclaimer: I think that Lost is a wonderful, multi-racial show and I'm not arguing differently! *

Yeah, you can call me AJ, everyone else does.

It was Scary Movie that said that.

My friend watches Reality shows like crazy and says to me that the minorities are usually the first to go in those too.

LOST is a multiracial show, but to keep that, they have to keep there people alive wouldn't they?

I totally agree on keeping the multiethnic cast...though I just got a thought: what if "they" are assuming that "we" won't expect say, Michael or Sayid or Jin to die because they are minorities, and kill one of them off just to show us that no one is safe on the island? Wouldn't that be cruel?????

Flora--That would be cruel. If they want to surprise me than they should keep Michael as a main character! AJ--Your comment made me think about what previous JJ (which I've enjoyed) shows might suggest for Michael's future(I don't recall any other ethnicities being featured prominently). Here are my recollections which are a little bit fuzzy since I have not rewatched those series yet on dvd ;).

Felicity--One main black character, Elena. She's Felicity's roommate and best friend. Elena is featured prominently in the beginning and then fades into the background. In the final season, she's "killed" but she survives because her death was a dream/hallucination/alternative future that Felicity changed through "magic."

Alias--Two main black characters, Francie and Dixon. Francie is Sydney's roommate and best friend. She's featured prominently in the beginning and then fades into the background until she's killed and replaced with one of Sydney's arch enemies. Sydney eventually wises up and kills fake Francie but then we find out she is probably still alive. Dixon was Sydney's partner, then her boss, and now a fellow team member. He escapes death but his wife is murdered. This gave him a main storyline until he also faded into the background. It's too early to tell how he will fare this season.

If history's an indicator, I'm not sure if I should be more worried about Michael dying or becoming irrelevant ???. Here's hoping for neither!* If Michael and Kate(female lead character) become close though, I'm going to be very nervous.

Maybe Michael will be walking through the forest and he will find an invincibility power up that will keep him alive forever!!!!!!!!!!

Michael dying and leaving Walt an orphan would be awful. It also would be pretty dynamic as Walt has 'powers' and with Locke's tutelage he would be a power to be reckoned with. Thing is I would rather see Michael and Walt develop a strong healthy father and son bond than anything that Locke could do for the boy. Wish they could both really make it off the island but it' s not likely is it ??

I don't think that Michael will be the victim this season..

I've been sort of thinking it might be Michael too...there are so many father/son themes going down and betrayal...and Walt is suppose to be a "special boy", I think he is suppose to be clairvoyant...there was also the conflict between Michael and Locke...could be that Walt inadvertantly causes the death of his father as a result of his relationship with Locke...

There are so many unanswered questions for me about Micheal. Was there anything of significance to us about the problems he and his woman were having? Why didn't she marry him? What was his dad like and does that have any significance for Walt? Is he protective of Walt being different because he's different? Also, I want to see how his relationship with Walt will play out. I'm intrigued by him because of the path from youthful idealism and excitement to being jaded by circumstance in life. Yet he continues to try.
