So what are everyone’s adventures/misadventures with fireworks this year?

We had our annual roman candle war at my house. This year it was eight people, two teems of four, two roman candles each person. We stand facing each other about 50 feet apart, and commence firing.
We had one deserter, a newbee to the family. And one casualty, an uncle that no one really liked anyway.* ;D

In other words, the deserter will never go near fireworks again, and the uncle will be fine in a few hours.

All I gotta say is that I will call the cops if people light fireworks near my neighborhood. It's illegal! Plus, dogs are affected by the noise and I hate when animals suffer. My dog goes crazy and I have to stay home every year to comfort him. My poor doggy.

I am with you Aurora. Fireworks are more trouble than they're worth. Especially here in Texas where we haven't had rain in months. It's so dry...and setting off fireworks near trees is probably not the best idea.

To Minnesotan_grl83: Happy 4th to you to!!!

To ShayidFan & Aurora10: *Shakes head* Ahh, come on, fireworks are fun! *:lol2:

And besides living in the mountains, my father is a pilot so he built a runway on his property. Plus I live in Washington, the evergreen and wet state. And just for safety, he has one of though big faming water sprinklers sitting near by.

See? You can still be safe and have fun at the same time. *::)

Of course they're fun....I like them. I just don't like that they hurt dog's ears. It really makes me mad when people set them off in neighborhoods. SF, yeah, it's been dry here. We need rain!

Yeah. I am all for fireworks shows, which are safe. But when you have a bunch of 10 year olds in the street, who think it's funny to set smoke bombs off under cars...then you don't get happy SF!

Fireworks... fourth of july... MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY! BOY HOWDY, GET ME SOME MATCHES AND 80$ a big, bad a** firework AND WE'LL HAVE A PARTY, ANTIUNSOCIABLE!

We (Me, my friends, and my Dad) bought like 200$ worth of em! And they aren't illeagal where I am, they're 100% legal! And you can even have those big ones in your backyard if you have a permit!

But on a serious note: I used to use M-80's, but now I will never use M-80's because a friend of mine lost 3 of her fingers using one, and I will never ever use one again in her honor.

I like going to see fireworks but don't like when they set them off in the neighbohood. I have dogs who get scared by the loud noise. Plus you hear of so many accidents that I worry when kids are around them.

Years ago when my daughter was about 2 or 3 my father in law took her and another granddaughter up close to see them. Scared my daughter for years - noise was so loud and chard papers kept falling around them. My husband took her farther back cause she was NOT having a good time. Almost 10 years since then and just now she is starting to like them.
