Hey William,

I'd like to ask you some quick questions for a fast interview, for the german movie mag bereitsgesehen.de (bereits gesehen means "already seen"). On our website, Lost has had an huge impact and our readers are daily speculating about the mysteries of the show.

So, here we go -

1) The most obvious one - is there any possible chance of Ethan returning? Means, has your contract already ended or is it still running?

2) If William Mapother had free hands to decide on how Lost would end....

3) When you were filming the first scenes with Ethan, did you already know that he's "different" and a villain?

4) Did the writers tell you more about the background, why Ethan might want to steal the baby or where he came from, or are you tapping in the dark just like us?

5) There are so many comic book adaptions being made right now. If you had to chose one comic book character, who would that be? [the team bets either Scarecrow, The Joker or Gambit]

6) Last one, what is your favourite movie of the year so far?

okay, that's it

all the best to you William,

Chris

chris,
my apologies for the tardy reply. as the show's in reruns, i haven't been checking regularly..
1) i have no idea if ethan will return. my contract with the show is over. as far as i'm concerned, ethan's under 6 feet of sand, tho i'd be back in a flash if they asked. i had a ball and the people are terrific.
2) it never would. at least not during my lifetime. i don't want the responsibility of trying to wrap this baby up.
3) in my first episode, i was told some things about ethan that i can't repeat, but yes, i did know he was a bit 'different.' i think they were still working out exactly how 'different' he was.. as for being a villain, what makes you think that? check out my answers to earlier questions for my thoughts on this.
4) i have been told some things that i'm not free to repeat. some things about him i don't know. the creators don't want to tell us everything!
5) i don't understand. do you mean a character to play, or one to be made into a movie? i'd be calvin, of 'calvin and hobbes.' do you have that in germany? it's not made here anymore. it's about a boy with a stuffed tiger that comes to life. fantastic. (explanation: it's really more of a comic strip. i kind of cheated with my answer.)
6) tough question. 'favorite' questions are so hard for me!!! plus, i have a terrible memory for what's played in the last 6 months. i just re-watched 'wings of desire' and loved that. can that count as my answer??
thanks,
william
