I guess the weirdest thing I've seen in a washing machine in the carpool lane and a dryer in the fastlane!

My husband, when he was a teenager, watched a guy pick his nose...I mean digging for gold...for like twelve miles and the guy never noticed there was someone right next to him watching...WITH A VIDEO CAMERA!

Stuck in rush hour traffic one time and we finally get up to what was causing the problem.
A 40 foot boat sitting in the middle of the lane. It had slid off the trailor and everybody was standing around trying to figure out how to get it back on the trailor. Talk about a fish out of water.
That ended up on the news that evening, they had to call a big wrench thing to lift it back on the trailor.

A deer standing in kudzu on a very steeply inclined hill. It was just standing their admiring the view on the side of the highway. Generally those hills are pretty huge.

LOL!!!!

I've seen a couch and other pieces of furniture. This was in Anaheim and a guy had a bunch of furniture in the trunk of his truck. It didn't seem tied down AT ALL and things were just flying off. What else have I seen? Hmm....I've seen hitch-hikers. lol

I have seen a "Lady of the Evening" and she was, um, I guess you could say she was proforming in her chosen profession:huh:

I guess it must have been a busy night for her since she didn't have time to leave the highway, lol .

When I was on my way to Adak, Alaska while in the Navy, I had to spend the night at an airforce base in Anchorage, & while being driven there in a van, we saw a moose
standing on the side of the road, just watching the traffic go by!

A cut in half deer. The deer must have been running in the night and ran into the wire guardrail and it cut the deer in half...the head was hanging over the guardrail and the body was just standing, it was so weird and a little gruesome I suppose.

Coming from a true road tripper...it's just one of those sad circle of life things!
(well not quite natural...but a sad fact of modern life anyways)
I've seen so many deer parts and smooshes. I once saw a huge pool of blood with a smear than went like a 100 yards. YUK!
I've actually seen, like lonewolf, the creature on the side of the road just watching traffic go by...it wasn't a moose, but it was in the rockies so probably a caribou or something along those lines. That one was kinda funny!

Hey, gimme a break, my hands were cramping up. :)

Just last week I saw a car covered head to toe in Red Sox and Patriots bumper stickers. I mean I couldn't tell you what color the car was. They also had bobble-head dolls and Wheaties boxes taped to the roof. Obsessed, anyone?

I was once driving up to Wisconsin to see my uncle and me and my grandman turned a curve in the highway and suddenly there it was...the Oscar Mayer Weiner mobile...stuck in traffic...don't they get special clearance or something...but it made me giggle...

FYI Aurora's avatar has seen Zoolander too many times...

I've seen soem wierd stuff on NY's thruway.
The other week I saw someone pull a u-turn where the cops turn around. And it confused me soooo much, bc of the whole toll thing, and you can pull a u-turn on the thruway. That's suicidal!! I was in such disbelief that I just stared and then continued to stare in the rear view...

I have highway nightmares of cars coming off of those tractor trailer car carriers. Well one day, I was on the way home from work and saw a car sitting in the right lane, a truck pulled over about 1/4 of a mile up with a car missing, and the truck driver running up the shoulder with keys in his hand. Remarkably, no one hit the car.

Pug, If you get caught doing that in NJ it's 4 points.

In college, my boyfriend and I were driving down the Garden State Parkway and another car went past us going the wrong way. (Where I went to college the GSP is only 2 lanes in each dirrection separated by a very large grassy median) My boyfriend was freaking out that we could have been killed.

Living in Canada and seeing deer and the remains of things on the road is not uncommon. You sure know when a skunk has been run over. Eeewwww! A moose is a rare sighting. I remember driving in the Kootneys a few years back in the winter and seeing something large on the side of the road in the distance. When we drove by I was shocked to see a huge bird feeding on road kill. It took me a mile or so after seeing it to realize it was an eagle. Those are big birds! l've seen a cougar running off into the woods, and a mommy quail and her babies strolling across the road. l had to stop and wait for her. That was cute. We were up north visiting family and on our way into town coming around a corner there was a baby black bear on the road, my side. It got confused and when l drove slowly by it, it started running next to the car. l had my younger cousins with me, we all got a good laugh over that!

I wonder if it's the same in NY. I cant even imagine thinking it would be a good idea! Then again. I've never missed my exit on the thruway:)

I was in the passenger seat, my mom was in the driver's and my little brother was in the back seat. We were driving next to this guy in a semi truck, and he took off his cowboy hat and started playing peek-a-boo with my brother while he was driving! My mom freaked out and sped up.

I drove behind a chicken truck. There were chicken feathers everywhere. When I was driving home (this wasn't on the highway - but a city street- I saw a panda riding a bike! (Actually a person in a panda costume. But, you don't see that everyday!)

I saw a guy jogging on the shoulder of a busy highway with nothing on but his running shoes. No one slowed down to look, they just sped on past him like naked jogging is a common sight.

Well you would think!
At any rate, his little stunt was permanently etched into the memories of many people that day.

I saw a very large black bear who waited until there was a break in the light traffic, looked both ways and then crossed the road.

The strangest was a very large man, at least I think it was a man, walking along the side of the road. He was big and hairy, solid, not blubbery but his legs were covered with deep purple veins and looked lumpy, like sacks filled with different sized marbles. It was easy to tell all this because he was wearing blue satin shorts, very tight and small and a red t-shirt, also tight.

Yikes.

The funniest was the Saturday before Christmas. I drove passed a place that has sheep near the road. On my way to work I passed the yard and one of the sheep was calmly eating hay with a Santa Claus hat pinned to it's head, buff ball and all.

I laughed for 20 minutes.

edited 'cause I can't type.

Alright, I had to chime in on this one. I do LOTS of road trips, and have seen plenty of strange things.

The roadkill is nothing new, seen plenty of that. The most disturbing and sad one was driving home one time to see a blood smear that was about 100 yards long, the area surrounded by police, and then reading the paper the next day to find that a poor woman was hit and drug by a semi... :(

I followed a cow truck once, (you know, the super smelly ones??) and watched a cow bomb the car next to the truck with poop through one of the little holes. That was hilarious. I was also really glad it wasn't me.

I have pictures of a sign from a little town in Montana called Rock Creek, just off of I-90. It's a giant bull with GIANT testicles, and it says. "The Rock Creek Testicle Festival. (Rocky Mountain Oysters) Come on in and "Have a ball!"

However, my personal favorite occured in Calgary, Alberta where I saw a big backhoe towing this huge cadillac boat down the highway, and I thought that was a cool sighting, I looked over as the vehicle passed me, and it was a midget driving. So a midget driving a backhoe, that was towing a HUGE cadillac.

There's plenty more, but those are a few of the more interesting ones.

Cheers!

I was coming to an intersection, & there were police & firetrucks. Turns out a Gut truck from a chicken plant turned over & spilled!:31:

In a town near where I live, there is a steak house that has a sign out front advertising
the specials of the day or week. One side said: "Boss told me to change the sign..."
The other side said: "...so I did!" :41:

LOL Those were great!

I can't believe I even forgot about this one. I was driving home on the freeway late one night and traffic was flowing just fine, but it was a really dark stretch of highway and I can across a bunch of broken concrete scatter over all lanes, then finally I came up to a semi-truck facing me and on its side in the fast lane, it had busted through the center divider from the opposite site of the freeway! It scared the heck out of me. The driver was out of his cab and running around trying to divert traffic away, but it was so dark he manager to almost get hit several times. There were HUGE chunks of divider all the way across the freeway!
