Anyone? Anyone? (echos)

Here! Here! Well, at least, sort of here. I live near San Francisco but visit my parents in Laguna Hills on a regular basis. I know at least one other regular LB poster who lives in the El Toro/Mission Viejo area. I'll be down there this weekend, but family stuff will take up all my time. Good luck finding other O.C. Lostkateers.

Rock on! I was beginning to wonder if I was all alone here. I mean like, I know everyone in the Hills has to have the internet, so I was like WTF? It's almost reason enough to relocate. (*climbs out on roof of house*) Fascist sun-worshippers, get a Wi-FI and log onto the Fuse!!! :lol2:

I be the El Toro resident nFound mentioned, and there is another person up in the Tustin/Santa Ana area, All About Locke, who is very cool. So, no, you aren't the only one. I find it interesting that people are getting so regionalized and trying to hook up with others in their area.

Hey, since you are a local, are you planning to attend Destination LA? I mean, how much more local can you get for a party with fans from all over the place. And I do mean all over the place, there are people coming from the UK and Germany, as well as all over the US.

03-28-2005, 09:26 AM
Hey there! So glad to meet you. I completely wish I could attend Destination LA, but alas the significant other does not share my level of devotion to Lost (though he does enjoy it immensely) and we will instead be spending the weekend with friends from out of town. :-\ Are you going?

yukailin
03-31-2005, 07:20 PM
OH yeah, I'm going, and so is All About Locke, so that's two OC residents attending, which is good.

Well, as the final schedule resolves itself, we may have to look into the South OC contingent of Lost fans getting together for a viewing party, make it pot luck, kick out all other family members, and watching the two hour finale together. Gosh, I hope I'm done with my thesis by then so I can concentrate on watching the end of the season.

Echo

it's Garf, how the heck are you?

Anyhow, All About Locke and lostnlaguna, shall we have a viewing party for the finale? I know the first half will air on May 18 and the two hour second half will air on May 25, so the second one sounds like the best. We could get together earlier, have dinner and re-watch the first half, then watch the second half together.

What say you?

That sounds like a great idea to me. Where? I would offer my home but since it is currently my parents, I can not do that. I will bring pizza and goodies though........hhhhhhmmmm???

yukailin
04-13-2005, 03:55 AM
Well, we can talk about it this weekend, but I can offer up my house, I've hosted things before, as you well know. It's a disaster area right now, re-roofing, new floors, furniture and clothes in the living room, etc, but by the end of May, it should be right as rain. And since I'm in El Toro, I'm central to Laguna and Santa Ana. Just waiting to see if lostinlaguna is in or not. I know Echo will be back in Florida by then.

Talked wtih Surreality Fan today, who just moved to LA and she offered up her new apartment for the party. I think that makes perfect sense as a homewarming party, so who is up for that? I know it's not OC, but there is no current LA group, so we must band together.

Hey, just joined fuslage. :D I'm in city of Orange. I've been real active on the abc.com plot boards for a few months. Lots there say Fuselage has the best info. and plot theory ideas, and that the show's producers actually read them.
I had no idea there were ways to talk to other "Losties" in o.c. how cool! 8)
No one else said they'd bring to a viewing party the little airplane bottles of alcohol to play "I Never" with....guess it's up to me!

yukailin
04-29-2005, 04:00 AM
My bad, I have not checked this thread since Destination LA, yipes.

So, yeah, I know All About Locke is in for a finale viewing party. Now, I know Surr offered up her place, and she's all the way up in Hollywood. So, depending on whether anyone else from LA jumps on board, I may actually offer up my place instead, since it's closer for everyone. Hmm, I'll have to talk to her and see if this is a problem. I have a house, and it's got lots of space, and parking, etc. But Surr's place is brand new and this would double as a house warming of sorts.

So, we've still got some time to decide. BTW, we were thinking of starting between 5p-6p so we could grab some food and watch the first hour of the finale from the week before, on tape, and then watch the finale all together at 8pm. So, an important factor in deciding when and where is everyone's work schedule that week.

I'm going to chime in even thought I don't currently live in Orange County. BTW, I just remembered that, for the first 6 months of my life, I lived in Tustin in a trailer park until my parents bought their first house together in Newport Beach. So, I guess that means I have a connection to both Locke and Hurley as well as a few 'lagers here. :D

Yu Kai-lin, since the season finale is on a weeknight when traffic is at its worst, maybe you could host the season finale for the O.C. residents, and Surr could host a DVD-viewing party the weekend after the LOST DVD set comes out. As for a home-warming party for Surr, if it's held on a weekend (say, the Saturday of the Memorial Day or Independence Day weekends), I would love to attend since I will most likely be visiting my parents in Orange County those weekends. Just a suggestion...

Well, it still looks like it might just be me, All About Locke, and Surr hanging out on Finale night, which is fine. I finally finished my Thesis, so I can rest my brain and actually think about social events without wondering if I'll have to cancel to write.

nFound, I graduate Memorial Day weekend, and then I'm leaving for New Zealand, so any additional gatherings of Lost fans will have to wait until July. Actually, I'll be going to comic con, and I know All About Locke will too, I guess we need to drag Surr to that one. Javi will be there, if no one else from Lost will. I do expect ABC to bring Lost though, since Alias has made appearances the last few years.

Hey, since the board is all new and shiny, it appears we lost our previous thread regarding So Cal Lost fans. So, shout out out there, and let's see if maybe we can plan a viewing party, or two. In fact, I'd love to have a Premiere party at my house, as I've got a big HDTV screen, so who might be interested? OH, I'm in South Orange County, if that helps any. I'll go pop up an announcement on the LB as well.

No worries, the board is all new and shiny, the summer hiatus has slowed things down a bit, this area will be hopping by the time the show starts up again.

Anyhow, I'm quite serious about having a viewing party for premiere night, so everyone who wants to come should PM me so I can send you my address and stuff. Let's pick a start time at least an hour before the show starts, so people can work on being there on time. The nice thing is, I have Tivo, so we can always slow things down if needed and not lose it. I'm thinking a combination of Pot luck and ordering pizza would work well too, and Surr needs to make Pink Mandangoes again, woot woot.

Party at my house on Wednesday, Sept. 21 for So Cal lost fans wanting to view together. It's going to be a two hour event, at minimum, because they are showing a primer at 8pm and the episode premiere at 9pm. I'm going to suggest people getting there between 7 and 7:30pm so we have time to order pizza and get everyone food in their tummies and drink in their cups.

So, how to find me.

Email me at: garfeimao@yahoo.com

We can discuss potluck options as well, just email me or PM me for more details.

That could be a real challenge, because I'm in South Orange County, which is about 60 miles south of you. You might try the train, actually, because you can go through Union Station, and there is an Amtrak station about 2 miles from my house, so I could come pick you up. The only other option is for you to try and hook up with Surr, who lives in Hollywood and might be able to bring you down, or maybe Slice, who I believe is also coming from the LA area.

Hi! I've been to Leno before, back when my family and I took a trip out here. We got up at the crack of dawn (so about 5:30) and got there at 6 and a line was already forming. And we waited there several hours...er, maybe two or three. And then they gave out tickets. I think the most you can get is 2 per person...I can't remember. And then they film at 6 and seats are first come, first serve. So, you have to get there early for that, too. But you have to know someone (like be a family member or friend of Jay or someone at NBC) to get the super sweet seats near the front, or so we were told.
But it was good times. And I would LOVE to see Dom! And I'm not TOO far away from the NBC building. I think it'd be cool!

ETA: My mom just gave me the www.tvtix.com website, and we could get them there, too, but it sounds like the leftovers tickets to her...I don't know what that means.

Sometimes you can just walk around Hollywood and Highland and there'll be people passing out tickets to go to his show. I'm sure you can get those online too...

First of all, I want to give a big wave and say "Hi there!" to Yu-kailin, All About Locke, Slice, Surr, and anyone else who remembers me. Long time, no post! I've been dealing with lots of not-so-pleasant personal stuff which has been keeping me away from The Fuselage.

I've got good news and bad news. The bad news is that my father has been in and out of the hospital for the last month, is currently in a nursing facility, and, when he is able to come home (probably in early October), he will need more care than my mother can provide. The good news is that I will be making a couple trips and then moving permanently to SoCal in the next few weeks so I can help out with Dad and make sure all of my parents' various needs are being met. This, of course, means that I will be able to hang out with my SoCal Fuselage friends once again, which is something that will keep a smile on my face during this rather stressful time.

Okay, on to happier stuff. I'm probably going to be in O.C. this coming Wednesday. Are there any plans to gather for a LOST viewing? If so, count me in! (Note to Yu-kailin: I still have your Battlestar Gallactica tapes and some cocoa for your mom and will bring them down with me.)

Also, if there's any way I can work it out, I'm really hoping I'll still be in SoCal to go to the Oct. 10 taping of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, which tapes at "CBS Television City" at the corner of Fairfax and Beverly in LA (near the Farmer's Market). I absolutely love his show and think he's the best thing that's happened to late night TV since Johnny Carson. Also, Dom + Craig = British accent heaven! ;)

If anyone wants to organize going to the Oct. 10 Late Late Show taping (not me, I'll have my hands full getting my dad settled in back home), here's the URL for reserving free tickets: http://www.ocatv.com/latelate/. Please reserve a ticket for me. :)

Sorry for this long and probably boring-to-most-people post. I hope to be seeing some of my D:LA friends and meeting some new SoCal 'lagers in the very near future.

Well, if getting Craig Ferguson tickets is so much easier than getting Leno tickets, then I'm all up for that. Personally, I don't like all the hoops you gotta jump through to get Leno tickets, it's a long day of getting up there by 7am or so, then you have to come back around lunchtime to stand in line all afternoon to guarantee getting in, and then it films around 6pm. Sounds like Craig Ferguson is easier, I just don't know how to confirm Dom will be on it. Anyone have ideas. Then again, I'm willing to get tickets and just go, regardless of who might or might not end up on it that day, just for the novelty factor of having never been to CBS city.

nFound, yes, I think a viewing at my house to welcome you back to the online community is definitely a must. Not sure I want to bring everyone back in for this, since Slice is up in Santa Barbara, but if Surr and Starlet want to come down from LA, that would be cool. I imagine we can talk AaL into coming, since she's just 15 minutes away. And my mom started salivating when I mentioned the cocoa to her.

I just picked up 4 tickets to this show, which will be for me and nFound at least. Someone else, such as Slice or Starlet or Surr will need to get another batch of tickets, as they allow no more than a party of 4 so that everyone can go to this. This one is easier to go to than Leno, not that I don't want to try that one as well, but this one is already in my possession. BTW, how do you know he's going to be on then, since it's not on the website yet?

And according to the easier way of going with TVtix, it looks like that date is now gone, from their system, at least. Bummer, which means it's back to the old fashioned way of heading over there at the crack of dawn, getting tix that way, then lining up all day to make sure you get in. Ugh.

Well, if getting Craig Ferguson tickets is so much easier than getting Leno tickets, then I'm all up for that.
I think the Late Late Show taping starts at 4 p.m. and is over around 6 p.m. I'm not sure what time we'd have to get there for good seats. Maybe whoever orders the tickets can ask about that. Also, depending on how my dad's doing, I may have to return to the Bay Area to tie up loose ends at work, but I'm hoping I can arrange to go back on Tuesday instead of Monday so that I can be at the taping.

If you haven't seen Ferguson on the Late Late Show, try to check him out next week. I wasn't impressed with him as Mr. Wick on the Drew Carey Show, but he's brilliant as a talk show host and I've got to admit that I find his Scottish burr incredibly sexy.

And my mom started salivating when I mentioned the cocoa to her.

And now, you can't ask anyone when to show up because it's simply a form you fill out and then print up.

Heck yah Craig's Scottish burr is sexy. It's even sexier than the guy who does the weather on Channel 5 who is also Scottish. hmmm, seems the Scots are taking over the airwaves here in So Cal.

I love Conan, but when he's a repeat, I usually turn to Craig just for his accent. It's so nice. I'm excited to him now! And usually when he and Dom get together, it's good times. I think one time Dom was there he wasn't even promoting something...it was odd...but hilarious...

Wow, we are a very spread out little group.

Well, looks like not enough positive response for this week, which is fine. We've got a whole season to work on another get together. Maybe something a little closer to the holidays might work, such as the Thursday before Thanksgiving. Although, I suppose that depends on everyone's holiday schedule, now doesn't it?

Go to this link and sign up for our local yahoogroup list, for more real time talk.

Hey there!! I just came across the So Cal group today. I'm bummed I didn't find it before Season 2 started. Oh well...better late than never. I'm in San Diego...North Park to be exact. Where else is everyone from?? :D

Currently, All about Locke and I are in south OC, Starlet and Surr are in LA, Slice is in Santa Barbara, and I believe many of the others have said where they are from, so you might just scan the pages back a few. There are only 5 of them.

Dom is going to be on the Leno show on Monday and I have two tickets. This means I don't have to go up to NBC at the crack of dawn to get tickets, but instead can show up around lunchtime to stand in line for the 3pm taping. So, who wants to go with me? I'll be cross-posting to the SoCalLostkateers yahoogroup as well.

I'm so bad at keeping things talking on this board. I guess because most of us moved over to the Yahoogroups for more active discussions. You can scroll back a few pages to find the link to the yahoogroup.

For now, I have 4 tickets for the Jimmie Kimmel show on March 20, Yunjin Kim will be on that night. Please PM me if you'd like to go. You usually need to be at the studio by 6pm, so keep that in mind.

Hey, some of us have started talking about doing a Finale Viewing party, once we know where it will be, we can see who wants to attend. We are hoping it will be in OC, which would make it easier for those in SD and those on LA to meet in the middle.

So, any interest in a viewing party for the premiere on October 4? In fact, what about a duo of events, premiere party on Oct. 4 and the mini-season finale 6 weeks later?

Thanks Yukailin for the info. Ok, I'm here now - Hopefully I can keep up on this board too - too many boards, too much work, haha!

Also, I googled the Viceroy for a map and came up with Viceroy Hotel map (http://www.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=1819+Ocean+ave,+santa+monica,+90401&ie=UTF8&ll=34.014819,-118.480253&spn=0.036355,0.10849&om=1)

The Viceroy is a funny hotel. It's very nice looking & decorated inside. And it gives the facade of being a "fancy" hotel...

Except I went to their hotel bar once, and the crowd was actually sort of skeevy. It was essentially a nice looking dressy group of people it seemed, but upon closer inspection my friends & I realized what we thought were a bunch of high-class hookers & their dates.
My coworker said she got the same thing one night when she had drinks there.

So funny.

Have you gotten any interest from others regarding an Oct 4th premiere party?

TrinityInAJam

Trinity, look up to my 8-16-06 post for the link to the SoCalLostkateers post. That's a yahoogroup, where we do more detailed planning for events.

No one has yet stepped up to the plate to volunteer a TV and sitting room to host a viewing party yet. Normally, I'd do it, but my current living arrangements are small, with a wimpy tiny TV. But if no one else jumps in soon, I'll end up doing it. I'm just hoping in a better place, metaphysically and literally will volunteer. Someone wants to, but she needs a big nudge to do it.

Anyone else going to stop by the Viceroy hotel in Santa Monica later today to get an Apollo Bar? Check the Apollocandy.com website for more info or google the hotel name for the address. I believe it's 1819 Ocean ave. and it's at the corner of Pico and Ocean in Santa Monica, 7pm till 11pm, part of ABC's promo with Acura, actually. Saturday, Sept. 16, be there or be without chocolate.

Yay Jojee, make sure you put a link here as well as in the Lost Weekend threads so we can all see them.

And if there aren't enough San Diego peeps, feel free to head north for the Finale. I suppose it would have been more helpful back when I was living in South OC, but I'm no longer there. But if Long Beach is doable for you, feel free to come.

Or if there are a few San Diegans here, and I believe there are, we can have a double bash, maybe even call each other during a commercial break and be all silly.

yukailin
04-14-2007, 05:01 AM
OK, Wednesday, May 23 it is. I believe we are getting a full night of Lost, but I'm not sure. I've heard it could be an 8pm recap type show and then the two hour finale, we'll just have to wait on setting up a time till we know for sure.

But for the moment, plan on Wednesday, May 23 in Long Beach. In fact, I just called DirectTv today and am getting it installed next week, so I should have several weeks to play with it and work out all the bugs. Still working on getting more chairs. I've got the dining room set, but they are anything but comfortable.

Awesome, Starrox.

Hey, if you wanted to, you could send the Troll here and he could attend the party, and then he could be sent back.

My DirectTV is all installed and everything and I noticed that I might be able to get the East Coast feed, which would be great. I've got DVR and so we could actually watch all the shows when we wanted, rather than wait for them to run their normal time. I just need to call and see if I can activate ABC's east coast feed for that week. If so, the time will be adjusted to fit a more flexible schedule.

Hey Lirpa! I thought of you the other week. But I know all will be well. :)

I am having a party and will work on the invite on my website this weekend. I may also set up some sort of video conferencing. I might as well use my geek powers for good! I have friends in the Seattle area that want to conference in.

I got a piece of the set and now working on getting it framed. This weekend, at my job they are auctioning a tour on the set of Lost. Last year it went for over $1000, NOT including airfare and hotel. So that counts me out! (I work with a family member of JJ Abrams). But it sure is tempting!

jojee, are you going to watch the show on California time, or some other time? Just wondering, cause if I can get the time switched, I'm going to try and watch a little bit earlier so people can leave a bit earlier, rather than getting home around midnight. Oh, and it would be great to call in and have the LA and SD parties talk to each other. Can't really do any kind of conferencing, as I have no software of hardware for that, but a phone is simple enough.

Interested in getting some kind of Orange County, CA group together.

I know season 4 is a ways off, but I have the feeling something like this might take some time to get set up.

So, if anyone lives in the Orange County, CA area and might be interested in...I don't even know what the hell we'd do...

Meet at a coffee shop, a bar, talk-shop on Lost, organize times and places to meet and watch old episodes, plan for season 4, plan that Season 3 DVD release party/marathon...

Who knows and who cares!?!?!

If the hiatus is killing you like its killing me, maybe we should ORGANIZE!!

I'm totally up for an OC meetup of some sort, it's just trying to figure out what sort of meet up to have that's perplexing. I think I may have to toss up a poll and try to figure out what people want. I'm thinking maybe one meetup in the next two months or so, just to hang out and talk Lost, and then plan for a DVD release and viewing party in December, and if that's too close to the holidays, then just a DVD viewing party in January.

Hmmm, will toss up that poll now.

Thanks Starrox. Here is the questions and options. BTW, can the poll be set up to offer more than one choice? If not, no biggie, I'll just ask that people then leave comments to go with their poll.

When and where would you So Cal Lostkateers like to meet up?

* At a home for a viewing party before the Season 3 DVD release
* At a home for a viewing party after the DVD release
* At a restaurant or coffeeshop for a discussion before the Season 3 DVD release
* At a restaurant or coffeeshop for a discussion after the DVD release.
* In the audience for a Jimmie Kimmel taping with a Lost cast member sometime this season
* At some other event like a convention or autograph signing event

True, for you, but I'm a little more open simply because I know at least half the locals on this thread already. Surr is gone back to PA, but nFound, All About Locke, Slice, Starlet, myself, and a few others have gotten together in the past.

But I do like the idea of a public meet up, maybe a once a month type thing so different people can make it at different times. I know the So Cal Browncoats do this with rotating locations so it will sometimes be close, sometimes be far.

Oh, and look back a few pages, there is also a Yahoogroup for us So Cal Lostkateers to discuss things with a little more depth.

Well, that makes sense in a way that should have been rather obvious to me.

If anyone is interested, I have now confirmed that I will have my Season 3 of LOST DVD set this Friday, a full 5 days (including a weekend there) before it hits store shelves.

If anyone in the SoCal area is interested in setting something up, kindly let me know as I am more then willing to supply the DVDs, and/or a place to kick back and watch them.

According to Lost Media........For Jimmy

5/14 - Evi

Hope you can get tickets for one of the days!! Good luck!

To get tickets, go to Jimmy Kimmel (http://www.1iota.com/home.aspx) and Select Jimmy's show and then select the dates you want. It says TBD next to all of them, and Josh's dates appear to be on waitlist, so have fun with it and hope to see some of you at the show.

Just want to throw this out there...

After the May 29th Finale, I want to start a weekly viewing retrospective.

Host by my, at my place...wine and snacks served...starting with Season 1 Episode 1, we work our way through the hiatus by going step by step all over again...who's in?

All viewings followed up by more wine and snacks and, of course, LOST conversation/debate...

The Official Lost Club of Southern California, or the OLCSC.

Great way to meet new friends and discuss our addiction!

It's a great idea, but would be way too time intensive for So Cal. I can't see anyone able to put that much time into this. More like one Saturday a month and watch multiple episodes might be possible.

Post a suggestion on the Yahoogroup and see what others have to say.

Hello SoCalers! My boyfriend and I are taking a trip this summer from San Diego to Napa. I would love advice on points of interest. We have a pretty tight itinerary so far, but I would certainly adjust things for something super special. We are not leaving the coastline.

So far we are:
July 14-San Diego (bumming around the city, the beach)
July 15-The SD Zoo, driving to hotel in Anaheim
July 16-Disneyland, driving to LA
July 17-leaving LA very early (we have both been there before) and driving to Solvang, doing the vineyards, eating at the Hitching Post (yummy yummy food!)
July 18-waking up super super early and driving up to Monterey, 17 mile drive, Aquarium, eating on Cannery Row, driving a little north and camping for the night
July19-going to Santa Druz for a late breakfast, heading up to San Fran and bumming around San Fran for the day
July 20-going up to Napa and drinking and staying there for the night
July 21-hiking in John Muir Woods and camping out there
July 22-going back to San Fran and staying there
July 23-leaving from Oakland.

Our schedule is tight, but if you can think of anything that is a can't-miss, please let me know.

Thanks!!

Hi molly, I would like to suggest you skip Solvang, which is a big tourist trap, (sounds like you've been there anyway) and go on to the Morro Bay Area on July 17th. Go up Hwy101 to SLO, and then go to the coast on Hwy 1.

You said you wanted to stick to the coast, but you are skipping the best part of it.

I have spent lots of time there, i think you would love it, if haven't been there before.(I live in O.C., where Disney is; it's about 4 hrs from here, if you miss rush hours, and a real pretty drive once get to Santa Barbara)

It is very beautiful, less crowded, and has many fine wineries just inland. There are even 3 very nice campgrounds right by the ocean. One is in a large grove of trees across the street from the MB aquarium, next to a golf course, and walking distance to a great little fish rest. with a view of Morro Bay Rock, and a boat/kayak rental place. There is a wonderful breakfast place in Morro Bay famous for waffles, etc. next to all the motels.

Also the small town of Cambria is just north up Hwy1 and worth stopping at.
(skip Hearst Castle IMO)

The other nice part is that it is much closer (only about 2 hrs.) to Monterrey, so your drive up Hwy 1 the next day will be more leisurely thru the Big Sur area, (you didn't mention Big Sur) which is considered one of the most beautiful drives in the country. So you would have time to stop and visit things along the way.

Stop at a art gallery, eat lunch at Nepenthe, world famous for it's view. Then you will come into Carmel a really beautiful little town (where Clint Eastwood lives) before reaching Monterrey.

If anything, you are trying to pack too much traveling into such a short time. July 18th is way too packed, the Mont. Aquarium and 17 mile drive alone are a full day. You'll never make it thru all that + plus the traveling. I suggest you pull out something from later on (like the going back to S.F. on the 22nd) You need to allow a day to get to Mont., then a day to sight-see it. and spend more time enjoying the trip.

If this sounds good to you, PM me and i will give you some specific names, i keep files on places I visit.
Good Luck!

Molly, too bad you aren't doing this in reverse. Why? Well, San Diego Comic con starts on July 23, but since that does not seem to be part of your plans, it's no big deal.

I agree that you could probably skip Solvang and go to either Morro Bay or San Luis Obispo (SLO). If you do SLO, a sweet place to stay is the Apple Farm http://www.applefarm.com/

Also, by going to Santa Barbara and SLO you would get to see two of the California Missions. And if you stop in San Juan Capistrano on your way North from San Diego to Anaheim, you'd get a third mission. Just sayin'. . .
