Was off today so sat down and started to watch my DVDs and found a few things along
the way, knowing what happens already, some things now jump out at you. Some of
these have been stated before, but with Season 2 just a few days away, it's nice to
have a reminder. Feel free to add or answer anything to/on this list.

How did Jack end up so far in the jungle? It just seems odd when everyone else was
on the beach and he was off in the jungle with nothing around but Vincent.

What are the black things that hit the engine (slow motion can reveal plenty) and did
they crash the plane?

Was Rose supposed to die? If Jack hadn't come along, Boone's CPR wouldn't have
done any good. So was she marked for death?

Was the wing meant to kill Claire (the baby) and Hurley? (the one "cursed" with the
numbers?)

With all the running and climbing around, wouldn't Jack's wound have opened back up,
seeing as it was only sewing thread and not suture silk and in a spot that is moved
frequently.

"Your not running now." Just found that a bit funny as Kate is always running.

Was the smoke Kate saw the plane or The Others?

Jack/Rose/Charlie/Locke interaction on the plane.

"Man 1: It didn't sound like an animal, not really?
Woman 1: That sound. I keep thinking there was something familiar about it.
Woman 2: Where are you from?
Woman 1: Bronx.
Charlie: Monkeys
Man 2: Monkey Island
Man 3: Don't know if we're even on an Island."

Wonder how many times Hurley passed out looking around since he has a problem with blood since it should be all around, especially in the Fuselage.

Vincent watching Jack, Charlie, and Kate go to the Cockpit. Is he part of the Island now?

Isn't it standard to do a wide search if a plane goes down? Especially if it drops com.

What's the fur in the cockpit? A Seat cover? Dead animal?

Charlie bumps into Shannon while running from the flight attendants.

What was Locke's secret he told Walt. The full secret, not just the miracle part.

Why don't they eat the bear? That's a heck of a lot of meat they just waste. They
have knives and everything they need to use it. And they were still not very surprised
that a polar bear just happened to be roaming around on an island in the South Pacific.

What is the relationship between the Marshal and Kate?
"Kate: I don't care what you believe.
Marshal: Oh, I know that's true. That's always been true."
So where they in a relationship, or just been chasing her for that long, or a friend?
He acts very much like a scored lover rather than a cop after her.

Who is the man's voice on the recording? Is it just a computer program? If it is, then
where is it coming from? The Others? Danielle's ship wreckage?

Kate uses the name Annie when on the farm. Struck me as funny since on an ep of Buffy, she uses the name Anne when she is hiding out in LA. Thought it cute since the shows share some of the same writers.

Does Jack see Locke as his father in a way? Is that why he is always up in arms against him?

Walt makes the rain stop (or seems to) when Michael says he will look for Vincent once
it stops.

Jack seems to only be in things for himself. He doesn't seem to be in for the Greater Good or would he really have let the Marshal suffer as he did, when it was obvious that he was a lost cause from the beginning.

Was Kate's favor really to give the old guy the money back?

I know Locke is supposed to be good, but how did he make a dog whistle?

We know what almost everyone was doing in Australia except Kate.

Who is Helen? Is she somehow special to the story other than being someone for Locke to talk to?

What does Locke see when chasing he boar?

Is Rose just guessing her husband is not dead, or has she seen her husband while she
was sitting alone?

What happened 4 years ago that put Locke in a wheelchair? Was he hit? Was it a
complication from the surgery with his father?

Was Boone supposed to die trying to save Joanna? Was it Joanna that Jack was really
supposed to save and Boone just got in the way?

Where are all the hairbrushes? It is really odd that with all the females that you see
that were on the plane that there wouldn't be any around?

Is there some significance to Jack's dad wearing white shoes with a blue suit? Other
than bad fashion taste that is?

What did Locke see that was beautiful? He looked scared when he saw whatever he saw.

Was that Jack's father's coffin? Was it another one on the plane? Did the body fall out or was there never one in there?

Notice that when Jin is fighting Michael, that Sayid and Sawyer run to break it up. Not sure of the significance.

Does Sun know what her father does for a living, not the business, but the other aspect, what he has Jin do?

Who are Adam and Eve? Where they from the Black Rock, or are they older?

Other than the good/evil, two sides aspect, what are the black and white stones for? Why were they left with the bodies?

Aloe fixes everything!

All the big trouble starts when they move to the cave. Maybe they would have been better staying on the beach in some cases.

Sun is to be at the airport at 11:15.

What did Locke give the island? Was it his fear?

Jin behind Jack in line at the airport.

Sounds like the announcement in the airport says Oceania, not Oceananic

I miss Hurley's CD player. Such great music.

Do you think that Charlie was really going to quit the band?

How did Locke know where Sayid was at for the signal? There wasn't enough time between flares for him to run. So did he go looking for Sayid after he talked to Charlie for the second time?

Is Sawyer's girl and the lotto girl supposed to be the same person. I know it's the same actress, but is the character supposed to be the same person?

What was the point of Locke pointing Sayid toward Sawyer? Did he just want to see if he could do it? Or did he know what Sayid would try to do and made it the starting point for Sayid to explore the island?

What is the cable attached to in the ocean? Another island? A sub? Undersea Research Center?

Was it Danielle that cut Sayid down or was it an Other?

Ethan hunting with Locke. Did Ethan choose to follow him or did Locke ask?

Danielle mentioned the bears. So were they there all the time, or just since the comic book and Walt?

What is the sickness? Were Danielle's crew really sick or was it something else?

What/Who are the whispers?

Locke pulling the first card sounded like someone pulling a knife.

Just what did the psychic see when he sat with Clarie?

Where did Ethan come from? Where did the Others come from?

Why is it so crucial that Clarie raises the baby herself. What will happen if she doesn't. Does Charlie count as another or the others on the island?

Did the psychic send Clarie on the flight cause he thought that she would die in the crash?

Was it fate that the pens wouldn't work for Claire?

Did Sayid see the Others or just hear them?

Damn, Ethan is creepy! I forgot just how creepy he was until he was there staring at Claire and Charlie.

How could Ethan drag Charlie and Claire by himself? He may be strong, but two people one of them pregnant would still be a hand full. Did the Others help him, or Danielle.

Why did Ethan take Claire? Was it for the baby? We know that the Others were after Walt, so why take Claire, unless it was a red herring. Or is Aaron special as well?

What kind of warrior was Hurley back home?

Did Locke work in Hurley's company?

How did the Others or Ethan get Charlie up in the tree?

Was it a scream that Kate heard or was it the waterfall?

Why was the gun case under this seat? Did it just happen to fall there? Were the people special or just some random people?

How did the toy plane get in New Mexico?

According to my subtitles on the DVD, the safe deposit box number is 850.

Did Kate not know the plane was in the suitcase?

Just what was that mix that Locke gave to Boone?

What is up with that tree. The one Boone hides in seems to be the same one that Michael and Walt are in later? Is there something special there?

What happened to the golf course? It was just so much fun!

Has Locke always known Walt was special, or did it just come about by watching?

Did Walt burn the raft cause Michael burnt the comic?

Did Walt cause the bird to fly into the window? He was also very calm about the birds death. Odd reaction for a child. Did Walt make his mother sick?

Why was Brian scared of Walt? Was it because he thought that Walt could cause bad things to happen, or was there something else. Was Brian scared of being a father?

Where did the bear that attacked Walt come from? Did Walt create it to get Michael to care about him or was it something else?

Why did Walt's mother keep Michael's letters from him?

What is the signifiance of The Black Rock? People have dreams about it and such, what is special about it?

Why didn't Claire remember anything when she got back? Did the Others give her/do something to her, or was it just stress trama?

I think Jin knows that Sun can speak English, or at least he suppects her. Just the way he looks at her sometimes.

The copier that Charlie demos is the C815.

Ethan doesn't seem to have that easy a time with Jack the second time around. Was it cause Jack was prepared, or was Ethan weakened from something?

I didn't get to finish all the disks today. I will post the rest later. Discuss.

Who was Kate married to?

Who did Kate kill?

Why did the boar hate Sawyer so much?

Is it just a coincidence that Locke's dog and Vincent are almost the same type?

Is Sawyer's real name James, or was that just the name he was going by at the time?

Why didn't Sawyer tell Jack about meeting his father? It may have lifted some of the tension between them.

Why was Jin so secretive about his father? I know that it was probably the poor standing, but at least he was hard working and most people look up to that. Plus humble beginnings more often than not turn out to be better than the ones of high standing.

Why was Hurley in the hospital? Hurley's mom says he's gaining weight again. Was he in the hospital for an eating disorder? Would explain the name Hurley. Or did he just work there?

What was with the guy falling past the window? Did he use the numbers on something, or was it just cause Hurley was in the building?

What do the numbers mean?

Is the cable attached to the hatch or the "Monster" security system?

Sam Toomey heard the number 16 years ago. So that would of been around the time Danielle crashed.

Who's voice was repeating the numbers?

Who built the radio tower, and why hasn't it been seen?

Why doesn't Charlie believe Hurley? Guess he just seems the type not to have that type of money, but it's still harsh.

Is it Locke's destiny to open the hatch?

Aisle 8 and 15 for footballs.

Has Locke never had feeling in his legs but is just noticing now, or was it the island?

Was Locke starting to doubt the island and that's why his legs began to fail?

What STD does Sawyer have, if he actually has one?

Does Boone consider himself a murderer for what he did to Teresa?

Sayid has become like the island MacGuyver! "Here's a stick of gum and a leaf...now make me a bomb!"

Why doesn't Locke get rid of the drugs since he knows Charlie used to be an addict? Did he just forget and not have time?

The subtitles on the DVD say "Hello. We're the Surviors of Oceanic Flight 815." The same thing that Boone said. So was it the tail section, if so where did they get the radio? Or was it the Others?

Why would Locke's father con him so badly?

What happened to Jack's finace'/wife?

Seems like almost every episode someone makes a "Are you Lost" comment.

Do you think Boone would of lived if Jack would of cut off his leg or was he already too far gone with the internal bleeding?

Was Boone going to say "Tell Shannon I love her."?

Do you really think it was Locke's fault that Boone died. Boone had the choice not to go with Locke, not to go in the plane. It was Boone's own actions that got him hurt.

You have pointed out several questions that are out there. Good job collecting much of them together. These are my thougts on a few of them...

Is Rose just guessing her husband is not dead, or has she seen her husband while she
was sitting alone?

This one I would doubt. If she saw him why didn't they make contact? Rose was the first one to bring up the possiblity of survivors from the tail section.

Who are Adam and Eve? Where they from the Black Rock, or are they older?

According to Jack the clothing has had about 40-50 years of deterioration. That would make them much younger than Black Rock.

I miss Hurley's CD player. Such great music.

But when the batteries died, that was a great moment.

Danielle mentioned the bears. So were they there all the time, or just since the comic book and Walt?

I would guess that they have been there longer than the couple of weeks that the lostaways have been stuck there. It sounded to me like she was used to seeing bears there.

What is the sickness? Were Danielle's crew really sick or was it something else?

This has been bugging me all season. In fact several parts of Danielle's story really doesn't seem consistant.

What/Who are the whispers?

They do appear to be tied to the Others. If Danielle was telling the truth about the whispers saying they were comming for the boy, then that would be a good confirmation. The Others did come for the boy.

Did Sayid see the Others or just hear them?

I think he just heard them. In Outlaws Sawyer asks Sayid what he heard in the jungle, no mention of seeing anything. Plus this would be consistant with Danielle saying that she had never seen the Others just heard them whisper.

What happened to the golf course? It was just so much fun!

Well Jin was there smacking rocks in ...in translation.

Who did Kate kill?

I think that they imply that this was Tom. While she didn't directly kill him, he is dead from her actions, and I am sure she feels responsible for it.

Well, when I said saw I was refering more to how Jack saw his father, there but not there type of thing. Was Rose seeing the ghost of her husband or does she just have a feeling that he is alive.

[QUOTE]According to Jack the clothing has had about 40-50 years of deterioration. That would make them much younger than Black Rock.

Actually he said that it takes 40-50 years for clothing to deterate. So they could be much older than that.

Here's a few more:

What was wrong with Kate's mother in the hospital other than cancer? Why did she start screaming at Kate? Was it something that she saw, was the sickness taking over, or was she scared of Kate?

What did Walt see when he shook Locke's hand that made him so afraid? What is in the hatch that it shouldn't be opened?

Was Danielle in on the kidnapping or was she helping Claire get away?

Alex is a female. Maybe the blond girl on the ship with The Others.

Why didn't the rest of the dynamite blow up when Artz did? Wouldn't the concussion set off the rest of the explosives?

Who did Sawyer get into a fight with, was it the Minister that he head butted?

Did Arzt see the "monster's" face?

What is the "security system" supposed to be protecting the island from and why would the island need protecting in the first place. What's so important about it that it needs protected?

Jin and Sun are so sweet!

What kind of ship was The Black Rock? Slave, convict, explorer? What mining colony was it headed to? How long has it been sitting there?

I still laugh my butt off when Arzt goes boom!

How does a place that big not get discovered?

Sawyer singing the Redmetion song. Sign of things ahead?

Are the Others really after the survivors or do they only want Walt and will leave the rest alone?

Locke is a comic genius! That Buzz came at just the right time!

What was a log that big doing in the middle of the ocean? Did the Others plant it or was it just floating for a long time?

Does Charlie take the drugs or just take an empty statue as a sign of his faith?

Where did the giant bird come from? Is this like the Island of big freaky monsters?

On the "what drags Locke" issue. I was playing around with my slow mo and there is one scene in which it looks like there is a face in what ever it is that is dragging him. I will try to put it on the comp and see if I can't get the same scene.

And there do seem to be faces in the large puff of smoke after Kate throws the dynamite. One almost looks like a baby, but not sure. Again will try to get pics of it.

Seems almost everyone wasn't supposed to be on the plane.

What did the Island bring them here for?

Did Danielle really think the Others would give back Alex after all this time?

What did they burn to make the black smoke?

Does Kate believe that there will be a "Locke problem"?

Where does The Others get their fuel?

Why do they have to take Walt?

Does Sawyer get shot or just winged?

The comic book was Hurley's. Could that be the reason for the polar bears. It wasn't Walt at all but Hurley's cursed comic book?

What is in the hatch? What caused the ladder to break? What is the source of the light?

I know a bunch of these have been asked before, actually most of them? I just thought this was a good chance to sit down and get them all out again before Season 2 starts.

Well, when I said saw I was refering more to how Jack saw his father, there but not there type of thing. Was Rose seeing the ghost of her husband or does she just have a feeling that he is alive.

Oh I see what you mean. Not sure. I did get the feeling from a later discussion with Charlie that it was more a matter of faith.

Actually he said that it takes 40-50 years for clothing to deterate. So they could be much older than that.

Kate

Any idea how long they've been here?

Jack

Long. It takes 40 or 50 years for clothing to degrade like this.

This would lead one to think that they have been there for 40 to 50 years. The fact that he added "like this" at the end, makes me think that the comment is directed to the clothing that they have found there. So I would say about 40/50 years.

This means that there has been at least the following groups that have come to this island:

Black Rock
Adam and Eve
Danielle and her team
The drug runner plane
The Lostaways

Seems almost everyone wasn't supposed to be on the plane.

It is interesting to see how many people had a hard time getting to the flight, or were not originally planning on being on that flight (Ex. Locke was planning on doing the Walkabout not on a flight home) Hurley and Charlie were both somewhat late leaving for the airport. Sun was suppose to leave, then changed her mind.

Nice catch on that one.

Plus to add to the list...

What is up with the waves pusing them off the original beach? The strange tide.

What is Danielle's story? Is she credible or just "certifiable" as Charlie says? Still some holes in her story.

How do the others know about Walt? (Don't remember if you mentioned this or not) Spys like Ethan in camp?

What is up with the waves pusing them off the original beach? The strange tide.

Part of me wonders if this wasn't just a plot point to explain the winter swells they get on the North Shore. But there could be something else to it.

Part of me wonders if this wasn't just a plot point to explain the winter swells they get on the North Shore. But there could be something else to it.

And those swells are huge. Very impressive to watch. I also wondered if it was a plot device to get the plane off the beach. But, Sayid did point it out as strange behavior (not that he saw a lot of tides in Iraq). But since he specifically mentioned it as a strange behavior, I think it qualifies as one of the strange mysteries of the island. I just doubt that it will be revisited.

Okay, let me see how many I can address before work is over. :hypocrit:

What kind of ship was The Black Rock? Slave, convict, explorer? What mining colony was it headed to? How long has it been sitting there?

I believe they stated it was a slave ship, what with the skeletons chained to the wall and all.

Why was Jin so secretive about his father? I know that it was probably the poor standing, but at least he was hard working and most people look up to that. Plus humble beginnings more often than not turn out to be better than the ones of high standing.

I believe Jin was ashamed of his humble roots. Now he wants to marry the daughter of a very rich and powerful man. In that culture it is very difficult to change your status. A fisherman's son would not be good enough for someone like Sun.

Isn't it standard to do a wide search if a plane goes down? Especially if it drops com

Yes but they would look where they thought the plane went down or along the flight path. They would not search 1,000 miles away without a reason to believe the plane went that way.

What STD does Sawyer have, if he actually has one?

I believe he was being sarcastic. He was talking about being anti-social and being hated.

Why doesn't Locke get rid of the drugs since he knows Charlie used to be an addict? Did he just forget and not have time?

Most of the 48 have not ventured far from the cave or the beach and Charlie hasn't show much inclination to wander. Locke probably figured he would never run into it.

Why would Locke's father con him so badly?

I suppose the same reason he never had anything to do with him before then. He was a selfish, self-centerd person. He didn't care about Locke as a son or even a person. He wanted to live and would do whatever it took to get what he wanted. Locke had what he wanted.

Jack seems to only be in things for himself. He doesn't seem to be in for the Greater Good or would he really have let the Marshal suffer as he did, when it was obvious that he was a lost cause from the beginning.

As we learn later with Boone, Jack has a hard time admiting defeat and letting go. They had only been on the island for a day and he was expecting a ship to rescue them. Even so, he does not like accepting that doctors can't save everyone.

Is Rose just guessing her husband is not dead, or has she seen her husband while she was sitting alone?

I think she was speaking from a place of faith. They survived so others could have. They were only one section of the plane.

Notice that when Jin is fighting Michael, that Sayid and Sawyer run to break it up. Not sure of the significance.

They are both men of action who are familiar with fights. Or they were bored and spoiling for action. OR they arebusy bodies who like sticking their noses into other people's business. ;)

Does Sun know what her father does for a living, not the business, but the other aspect, what he has Jin do?

Doubtful. If she did why would Jin work so hard to hide it from her. He washes the blood but won't tell her what is going on even to pushing her to anger and to slap him. That kind of secret would put distance between a couple that could reach the level of making a wife run from her husband.

How did Locke know where Sayid was at for the signal? There wasn't enough time between flares for him to run. So did he go looking for Sayid after he talked to Charlie for the second time?

I'm assuming you mean how did he find Sayid on the mountain. He is a tracker and hunter. Sayid wasn't checking to see if he was being followed. It would have been simple for Locke to trail them and wait.

Was it Danielle that cut Sayid down or was it an Other?

We are led to believe that the trap was hers. Danielle wants nothing to do with the Others so if it was their trap I don't think she would be there. If they cut him down he wouldn't have ended up with her.

Did Sayid see the Others or just hear them?

He says he hears whispers. Unless you think he is lying or leavingit out. He looks pretty scared when he hears them but never really focuses on anything. I'd guess he just heard them.

How could Ethan drag Charlie and Claire by himself? He may be strong, but two people one of them pregnant would still be a hand full. Did the Others help him, or Danielle.

I've mentioned this before but no one seemed to pay attention. All Ethan had to do was hold Claire and Charlie would have followed quietly. He is very protective of her and wouldn't do anything that would make Ethan hurt her. There could have been others waiting to help as well.

I can see Charlie letting them hang him or even going along with it if he believed it was his life or Claire's. He might not have fought back at all.

What is up with that tree. The one Boone hides in seems to be the same one that Michael and Walt are in later? Is there something special there?

It could be just that the stand is in the area of the caves. They do seem to stick pretty close to home.

Why did Walt's mother keep Michael's letters from him?

The same reason she never told him who his birth father was. She was cutting Michael out of Walt's life.

Charlie bumps into Shannon while running from the flight attendants.

Actually he bumps into Jack and scoots past Boone ans Shannon in their seats.

Why don't they eat the bear? That's a heck of a lot of meat they just waste. They
have knives and everything they need to use it. And they were still not very surprised
that a polar bear just happened to be roaming around on an island in the South Pacific.

They hadn't realized they were going to be there for a long time. It had only been a couple of days. Bear meat is not the first thing civilized people would think to eat, either.

What is the relationship between the Marshal and Kate?

Even in later episodes it does seem very personal. There has to be more than a professional interest that the Marshal has in Kate.Maybe he was the person she was married to?

Why didn't Sawyer tell Jack about meeting his father? It may have lifted some of the tension between them.

Sawyer created the tension, why would he want to lift it?

Work day is almost done so that's all for now.
