TheGreenSaga 09-12-2005, 12:17 PM Things we hope will be answered in Season 2:
What is the hatch and what's inside?
What is the monster and what does it look like?
What did the Others want with Claire and/or her baby, and/or Walt?
What happened to the tail section, and if there are survivors what the heck have they been doing?
Where exactly did the Black Rock come from and what is its significance?
Where did the beechcraft come from and what is its significance?
Who are Adam and Eve, and what is the significance of the stones they had?
Who was Ethan Rom?
What happened to Claire whilst she was kidnapped?
Where did the polar bears come from?
Exactly what kinds of "powers" is Walt capable of?
Where do The Numbers come from, and what is their significance?
Backstories:
How does Hurley have ties with the people in the psychiatric hospital, and did he know Emily Locke?
What happened to Jack's wife, Sarah?
How does Jack, a highly decorated spinal surgeon, know so much about guns and how to use them?
Where do Jack's tattoos come from, and what is their significance?
How was Locke paralyzed?

Did Locke ever serve in the armed forces?
How did Drive Shaft get started, and what were Charlie and Liam like in the beginning?
What was Jin like before he met Sun?
What was Sun like before she met Jin?
How did Jin and Sun meet?

Is there anything about Claire that doesn't have to do with her baby?
How did Sawyer get mixed up in that barfight?
What exactly happened in the Tampa Job?
What did Sayid do after he left the Guard?
General Questions:
Are we going to see more of Steve, and maybe some other already-introduced redshirts?
Will Rose finally be reunited with her husband, Bernard?
Will they hold a funeral for Arzt? (It would be oh-so-fitting for the character if they didn't)
Hrm... maybe Hurley will actually say something to them, and they'll hold the funeral because of one of the last things Arzt had ever said before he died... about being excluded.
Cliffhangers:
What happened to Walt?
Are the raftaways okay?
Will Charlie relapse in his addiction?
How did the plane crash? How did the tail section come off *well over* thousands of feet in the air and still happen to "land" on the island (although im making the assumption they crashed on the island and didnt have to swim towards it).
Is the damn flying carpet monster the same thing as the smoke in Exodus II?
waltisfuture 09-12-2005, 02:07 PM Great idea TheGreenSaga
How does Locke know what everyone needs?
What is the cable for?
How did Susan talk Michael into letting Brian adopt him?
MidKnight 09-12-2005, 05:29 PM The cable is big for me too.
Also, where is the transmission coming from? Still haven't seen that one. Clearly there's power there.
Looks like we're close to finding out what the hatch leads to!!!
lost_knight 09-12-2005, 06:09 PM Nice thread. Now we can keep it alive all season and fill in the blanks. See what was answered over the season. :)
Things I think will happen, or at least have a good chance of happening...
Things we hope will be answered in Season 2:
What is the hatch and what's inside?
Where do The Numbers come from, and what is their significance?
What happened to the tail section, and if there are survivors what the heck have they been doing?
What happened to Jack's wife, Sarah?
How was Locke paralyzed?
What the heck did Kate do, anyway?
Are we going to see more of Steve, and maybe some other already-introduced redshirts?
Will Rose finally be reunited with her husband, Bernard? (This depends on the tail section from above)
Are the raftaways okay?
Will Charlie relapse in his addiction?
Things that I would be sure we will not find out in Season 2...
What is the monster and what does it look like?
Where did the polar bears come from?
Exactly what kinds of "powers" is Walt capable of?
The rest...not sure. There will probably be some new things that will come up and we will forget about some of the other things. I really doubt that every question will be answered.
sportbronco 09-12-2005, 08:05 PM How have they ate only
baked/broiled fish
tropical fruit
sushi ( Jin can cook )
fresh h2o
and not lost 2 or 3 stone each
?
why wife serves me this stuff all the time and I dont ever seem to get anything from it!
liz_lost_fan 09-13-2005, 12:42 AM um...are we forgetting about Ethan?? where did he come from, how did he get on the island?? what did he want with Claire?? is he working with Danielle?? if so, than Danielle lied about not ever seeing the Others...or is she one of the others??
Likelylost 09-13-2005, 01:25 AM Don't forget the question constantly being repeated:
Where is Alex?
Ethan Romp 09-13-2005, 01:56 AM Correct me if I'm wrong, but a blonde girl threw that bomb that blew up the raft right? Perhaps this is Alex?
stircrazy 09-13-2005, 02:50 AM Did we mention "the sickness"? What is it?
And how does Sun know so much about gardening and holistic remedies?
(Didn't she grow up in in the city with a wealthy father? Do you think Paris Hilton knows those things?)
Islandgurl 09-13-2005, 10:54 AM One thing I think I can explain: Jack's Tatoo. JJ said that is really Foxys. They were going to cover it with makeup, but then they really liked it so they left it.
And Sier, i think the flying carpet monster is the same or a "cousin" of the black smoke from Exodus
lost_knight 09-13-2005, 11:51 AM Don't forget the question constantly being repeated:
Where is Alex?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but a blonde girl threw that bomb that blew up the raft right? Perhaps this is Alex?
One thing to remember about Alex, she would be what about 16 now? I will have to pull out the DVD and check to see if that girl could fit description. From memory, I think that from what we saw the possibility exists that this could be her.
I will add...
Who are the Others? Where did they come from and what do they want.
And What is Danielle's story? Why is her story full of holes? How trustworthy is she? (not very since she took Aaron)
And how many other groups have come to this island, only to get stuck. We know of at least 5.
The girl who threw the fire-bomb grenade thing on the raft is much older than 16. The only way this could be Alex is if she had some rapid aging.
The Pacho 09-13-2005, 12:27 PM Is it just me, or does the "monster" seem to resemble more of a machine than a monster? And if this is true, what kind of machine is sophisticated enough to go around killing people, and knocking over trees? And the weirdist part is that no one except Locke has been able to see it. Am I the only one who thinks it is a little preposterous that on an island in the middle of nowhere, there is a "gargantuan" machine walking around killing people? And, if it is a machine, then my guess is that what is contained in the hatch is something to do with genetic experimentation. The video game Far Cry comes to mind, and I really hope it doesnt turn out the island is inhabited by mutants!!!!!
P.S. The "monster" only shows up when you hear a strange clicking/screaching noise. I think it has something to do with that thing that Kate and Jack saw float by in the season finale.
Well, and I dont mean to nitpick, but 48 people surviving a plane crash over the ocean where the tail section broke off in mid-flight is improbable. Them landing on an island is even more improbable. The fact that no one is really hurt makes it even *more* improbable. The fact that Walt can "summon" things and Locke has accurate visions is even more improbable. The list goes on and on.
So the monster being improbable? You bet. The entire concept of the show is. There is no "living" smoke and no way in a scientific realm you can explain its behavior (and don't say nanomachines, because in this use that is simply science fiction, not science). The technology that is used on the island is rediculous, impossible, and amazingly entertaining.
And after all, entertainment is the entire point.
DriveSHAFTband 09-13-2005, 12:36 PM Whatever happened to Jack's father's body?
And Sier, i think the flying carpet monster is the same or a "cousin" of the black smoke from Exodus
I hope that it is. I'm in the "that piece of debris was no accident" camp. I wish they addressed it on the DVD. The fact that no one official has commented whether or not its just a peice of debris or the monster makes me think they still want to tie it in later on down the road.
The Pacho 09-13-2005, 02:50 PM Oh yeah, I agree entertainment is definitely the point. I wasn't being critical of the show (I often find myself defending it from the skeptics). And I will admit :ohwell: that the monster is one of my favorite aspects of the show. However, I was saying that more out of worry that they won't be able to explain its reason for being on the island. Oh, here is another thing I found out about Hurley that I bet few people noticed. Firstly, he owned the box factory that Locke worked for, and secondly, Hurley was on Korean tv when Jin first "delivered his message" to the Environmental safety official. What do you make of that, cause I am drawing a complete blank!!
that1spunkygirl 09-13-2005, 03:41 PM How did Jack know which way to run when he woke up in the jungle?
Where did Kate land when the plane crashed? Why wasn't she among the wreckage? Was she trying to escape?
If Ethan kidnapped Claire, why did she have a flashback of being with Danielle while she was gone? If Ethan is an "other" and Danielle isn't, how did Claire end up with them both?
Who really kidnapped Claire?
Why do the others need the boy?
JAZZYJ 09-13-2005, 04:48 PM he owned the box factory that Locke worked for,
"Yea, they make boxes."
lost_knight 09-13-2005, 05:07 PM How did Jack know which way to run when he woke up in the jungle?
He probably just ran toward the loud noise.
If Ethan kidnapped Claire, why did she have a flashback of being with Danielle while she was gone? If Ethan is an "other" and Danielle isn't, how did Claire end up with them both?
I agree this one bothers me, as does Danielles whole story. I really think that Danielle is either lying about something, or possibly just confused and insane.
Ethan Romp 09-13-2005, 05:10 PM Ok, quick question..what is the 'flying carpet monster'? I'm confused as to what you guys are referring to.
Thanks.
lost_knight 09-13-2005, 05:40 PM Ok, quick question..what is the 'flying carpet monster'? I'm confused as to what you guys are referring to.
Thanks.
Here is a link to a picture showing the clip...
http://forums.newyork.craigslist.org/?ID=28470085
One picture shows a "flying carpet" smoke thing that flys by the engine as it explodes. Many tthink that it causes the explosion as the engine blows up right as it dips down next to the engine.
Another picture shows the smoke that is seen in Exodus when they are transporting the dynamite.
There are quite a few threads on this subject, and none of it is conclusive. Just more mystery.
modlman17 09-13-2005, 07:13 PM I'm new to the world of Lost forums but I'm a huge fan of the show. Some of the things that caught my attention from Season 1 were
1) Did Ethan kidnap Claire for some bad reason or to protect her from the "others" or the other passengers????:undecide:
2) Does the cable have anything to do with Danielle's battery's? If not how did she keep them charged?
3) How did the dynamite get on the Black Rock? Was it part of the ship's cargo, or was it stored there by someone else?
coupons 09-14-2005, 01:28 AM What is 'The Island's' name?

Thanks for the info..I never noticed that one from the Pilot episode!! Incredible...
Aardvark 09-15-2005, 01:02 PM I think these were not already mentioned:
Where is Danielles ship?
Why did the compass pointing incorrectly? (that's my big one)
How was Locke UN-paralyzed?
Why have the survivor's lives crossed so much in the past?
What's the deal with Hurley's "luck" (good and bad).
What was the pillar of back smoke Danielle saw?
Where is the Island located? Why have they not been found?
Who was Boone talking to on the radio? (and what did they say - "we are" or "there were no"?)
What's the deal with the tides?
What's the deal with Jack's father's "ghost"?
What's the whispering?
tpeltz1 09-15-2005, 01:51 PM Why was the crash shown in the daytime when it should have been night?
What's with the DC3s that Clair and Kate have?
Why is La Mer written over and over on the map?
How did the Black Rock get placed on the middle of the island?
Why was a small Beachcraft from Africa on an Island in the South Pacific?
Why was Kate's mother afraid of her?
What's with Steve and Scott?
thegreenvortex 09-15-2005, 02:07 PM "How did Kate's friend Tom get a diecast DC-3 before they were ever manufactured?"
"Why did Kate leave the DC-3 on the back seat if it was SO important?"
"Why is a supposedly deep and intelligent guy like Sayid attracted to spolied Shannon?"
"Is Walt's midichlorian count higher even than Master Yoda's?"
"What is Rousseau's depilatory secret?"

lostinspace 09-16-2005, 05:17 PM Also, what happened to jack's father's body? Why doesn't HE wonder that?!
ladyrune24 09-16-2005, 05:20 PM How did Shannon know about the guns and where the gun case was buried? Neither her or her brother were in on the Ethan thing.
waltisfuture 09-16-2005, 05:37 PM Where did Walt get the matches to light the raft on fire?
Diary girl saw him with them, and Sayid used matches on Charlies wound.
gf2020 09-17-2005, 07:32 PM The Story of Kate's marriage, revealed while drinking with Sawyer.
The Pacho 09-17-2005, 08:02 PM Hey, what is the story behind those two bodies that Jack and Kate found in the caves, and did they ever tell what happened to those bodies? And what is the importance of the two stones that Jack found? Is it possible, that they were at one point "Others"?
I also wondered if the radio thing would still be working on the other plane?
I think the message back to Boone said "We are flight 815" ??? - I wondered if they were they just repeating what he'd said to them or were they perhaps some others who were also survivors of another flight 815?
And Danielle mentioned the control tower near the Black Rock so will they go and investigate that?
BTW - This may sound daft but I thought Jack's wound (in the pilot) seemed pretty bad but it didn't seem to bother him much -
Robersdee 09-17-2005, 10:05 PM hi, Im new here but I love the show
the compass thing, one of my first thoughts about the crash/plane/compass thing was that there in the bermuda triangle, or something to that effect
liz_lost_fan 09-17-2005, 10:14 PM yea, I wanna know whats up with the comapss and stuff...
Guinevere 09-18-2005, 01:53 AM Since Charlie implied that he had never used a gun before, how did he know how to correctly hold the gun AND place 4 bullets within a pattern of a person's fist? One shot I could see as dumb luck but 4 times???!
Sam G 09-18-2005, 12:05 PM Since Charlie implied that he had never used a gun before, how did he know how to correctly hold the gun AND place 4 bullets within a pattern of a person's fist? One shot I could see as dumb luck but 4 times???!Even though Hurley says Charlie shot Ethan 4 times, it was more, I think 6, I can't remember right now but many people noticed it and wondered why Hurley had said only 4.
Yes, it is strange.
DrPrimo 09-19-2005, 01:34 AM If Ethan kidnapped Claire, why did she have a flashback of being with Danielle while she was gone? If Ethan is an "other" and Danielle isn't, how did Claire end up with them both?
I agree this one bothers me, as does Danielles whole story. I really think that Danielle is either lying about something, or possibly just confused and insane.
Are we sure that Danielle wasnt the one (or one of those) who "attacked" her before she was kidnapped?
DrPrimo 09-19-2005, 01:40 AM Who was Boone talking to on the radio? (and what did they say - "we are" or "there were no"?)
If you put the subtitles on on the DVD, it is "Hello, we're the survivors of flight 815".
Even though Hurley says Charlie shot Ethan 4 times, it was more, I think 6, I can't remember right now but many people noticed it and wondered why Hurley had said only 4.
I do count 6 shots, but I guess you cant expect him to be a perfect shooter his first time.
Aardvark 09-19-2005, 10:25 AM If you put the subtitles on on the DVD, it is "Hello, we're the survivors of flight 815".
.
Really? (I don't have the DVD yet) Now you put the closed captions on the orginal TV broadcast - you get "There were no survivors of flight 815". Let alone the the teaser commericals altering the audio... aaarrgh, let's all not get into this debate again! I'm assuming this answer will be revealed in the course of the show.
castdownpbj 09-19-2005, 11:45 AM I believe that the voice on the other end says "WE'RE the survivors of Flight 815". I don't think we'll ever find out for sure, but I think we'll find the others and realize that someone on the other end was like "What?! Who are you?! WE'RE the survivors!"
JohnQPublic 09-19-2005, 12:08 PM The "Steve or Scott" thing is just a joke put into the show. Knowing these guys, they'll probably introduce Scott at some point. ...Or is it Steve?
As for the compass and the direction of North, I'm guessing the Island is moving in some way or fashion. Which would explain the tide hitting the beach so soon like it did. Reminded me a lot of the 1960's version of "Dr. Dolittle." with Rex Harrison. It would also explain why no one was able to locate the island, DESPITE having a broadcast tower ont he island that could reach Austrailia at one point. Remember the old woman missing a leg, saying her husband heard mostly static until one night they heard the numbers?
The message from Boone's call definately says "We're The Survivors." Anyone with a good ear and a computer can get that out of the DVD. But it can't be the people in the tail like some have assumed in the past, because where are they going to get a radio in the tail?
JohnQPublic 09-19-2005, 12:11 PM As for my question. What is the cable connected to in the ocean, and is it connected to the broadcast tower or the hatch? OR, is it just another piece to the psychotic puzzle?
Sam G 09-19-2005, 05:18 PM The "Steve or Scott" thing is just a joke put into the show. Knowing these guys, they'll probably introduce Scott at some point. ...Or is it Steve?

The compass...if the island was moving, wouldn't both compasses be off? Sayid had made one and that's how he knew Locke's read differently.
The return distress call could be from the survivors of the tail section of the plane, if they found the radio tower. It seems Danielle's call has been turned off because Boone was able to broadcast and the receive a signal.
liz_lost_fan 09-19-2005, 06:03 PM I think Sayid knew it was off, because of where the sun was and stuff, I don;t think he ever finished his compass, cuz Locke gave him his...
JohnQPublic 09-19-2005, 08:00 PM That's true, but Danielle said "They" have control of the tower now. If it's been running for 16 years under their control, I highly doubt they'd turn it off now. Or, that the people in the tail managed to get to it with them controling it. I have a psychotic theory about who was really on the other end, but I don't know if posing theories is allowed in this post. Feel free to direct me to wherever that is.
The compass problem could be caused by certain Electromagnetically generated field.
Or an EMP field.
( probably all EMP Fields, if strong enough, would cause some sort of disruption. But for this island, I would guess, they are thinking of a specific kind to do exactly the things they are hinting at.)
Sam G 09-19-2005, 11:15 PM I think Sayid knew it was off, because of where the sun was and stuff, I don;t think he ever finished his compass, cuz Locke gave him his... Sayid did finish his compass before Locke gave his his. He put Locke's down next to his homemade one and you can see they don't read the same. Locke tells Sayid he doesn't need the Compass anymore.
But in DEM Locke's breifly pulls out a compass, when they are looking for the Beechcraft, his legs have started to fail him and one would guess his connection to the island, so he needed the compass again.
liz_lost_fan 09-19-2005, 11:17 PM oh, ok :D

What is your psychotic theory? I'm pretty sure you can just use spoiler tags if you have to reveal anything for your idea....Or have you already started/added to another thread? =]

THe main area for theories would be in the Speculation > General Theories area. Of course they are sometimes discussed in many places. I have seen them get started in threads like this, then get moved into the General Theories area later.
I too have to admit I am interested in hearing your theory. Either post here, or let us know where else you may have posted it.
JohnQPublic 09-20-2005, 08:03 PM I found my way there. It's silly, but thought provoking.
Here's another question. So far map wise, we've only seen people travel to the west end of the island. Why haven't people gone East? And when I say East, I mean East facing the ocean. Check it out. When Jack first runs to the beach, he goes West toward the plane. Sayid goes West when he maps out the island. Looking at pictures at the Lost website, the Hatch (beaming white light) is to the West inland. When they chase after Danielle and Aaron, Charlie and Sayid go West.
Is there something wrong with East?
Did Danielle know about the hatch?
lost_knight 09-21-2005, 12:08 PM Did Danielle know about the hatch?
No, she said she had never seen anything like it when they took her there.
No, she said she had never seen anything like it when they took her there.
But that dose not mean she was telling them the truth
lost_knight 09-21-2005, 01:00 PM But that dose not mean she was telling them the truth
Oh believe me. I see big holes in Danielle's story. I was actually shocked that she was as accurate as she was with the Others comming after the boy. So I think there is a good possibility of her not telling the truth.

I second this. I miss Bill Waterson comics. He drew lots of dinosaurs.
angiece 09-21-2005, 05:27 PM What are the voices AND why do only some people hear them? Danielle, Sayid, Sawyer, and Kate.

My local newspaper just picked Calvin & Hobbes back up. Calvin is one of my heros, so I made my whole profile a change because of this. I really miss these Calvin & Hobbes too, my all time favorite.
MarkTheShark 09-22-2005, 07:06 PM In answering to "How does Locke know what everyone needs?"... I think Locke is tuned into something on the island that noone else is aware of, sort of like an antenna. The island is obviously, at least in his mind, talking to him. Giving him ideas, hope and faith that there is a reason this plane crashed there. He seems to be hearing the island telling him things about other people on the island, which might be why he is so quick to suggest to other people that they 'not worry about things' as though he is in on a little secret. What I wonder is; is the island's magic rubbing off on the others, or is it Locke's? Look what he did for Walt in teaching him to throw that knife. He knew Walt would be able to do it, so was it the island telling Locke? Did the island give Walt the focus he needed or was it Locke, or is this one of the special things about Walt that has nothing to do with the Island or Locke? There is something very spiritual going on for Locke, and anyone who has been there, in that place of upper awareness, knows what he feels too. Alive. Maybe for the first time ever. Plus an overwhelming sense of purpose. No wonder he doesn't seem to want to leave the island...
xanadu 09-23-2005, 07:03 PM Now we know that Jack wanted to marry the girl because he felt responsible for causing her fiance to ditch her. He was too honest with him and the guy thought that she'd be worthless, especially in bed. He never even visited her. So Jack felt the need to make up for that. And in the end he realized that he actually was not doing the right thing so he let her go.

Being the oldest I believe he's experienced more in life than anyone. He knows how to read people. He sees all of the signs, all of the patterns. All of his life he's been a believer so he has no trouble accepting any possibilities of what's going on.

Remember Jack not knowing when to let go.
It's just like Boone letting Jack off the hook.
I know you promised but I'm letting you off the hook. it has to come into play again.

Hmmm... what do you guys think?
I read somewhere that if played back-wards Walt was saying something in the lines of "Donīt press the button".... I havnīt done it myself so I have no idea about the accuracy of it though......
