View Full Version : The Hatch Standoff...How do you think it will unravel in Ep 2?
jet3004 09-22-2005, 03:02 AM Episode 1 ended in a heated standoff in the hatch. How do you think episode 2 will deal with it? Jump right into the action or wait a bit? Jack looked and sounded like he was going to say something right after he said "You...," so I guess we'll see what that might be. Thoughts?
ilgandy 09-22-2005, 03:26 AM Do you think Jack ever saw Desmond again after their "chance" meeting at the stadium? I mean I can remember a face, but if its been several years since jack saw him then I don't know if he would have remembered him right away. I think Jack will put the gun down, get captured, him and Locke will be tied up and taken to where Kate is. Then the three of them break free and overpower Desmond.

Personally, I think there's a chance we won't see it at all. Next week is Michael's flashback, which may mean that we spend the entire episode out on the water and the promo mentioning all the survivors might mean that next week, we'll be getting our first introductions to the rest of the survivors, as led by Ana Lucia, who somehow aid Michael.
Or, I could be wildly off-base... in which case, I expect Desmond will be dead before all is over, with some answers and more questions or he's a pretty reasonable guy and stands down, realizes it's all OK, answers questions, etc. Somehow, I think option A is more likely. :)
waltisfuture 09-22-2005, 05:40 AM Jack says, "You!! I remember you"
They sit and have a cup of tea and Jack tells him about Sarah's miracle, and they have a laugh about Jack's comment that it's a small world.
jet3004 09-22-2005, 05:41 AM I think the latter about Desmond is not going to happen. It would be great but I don't think he's going to give up too easily.
wildjinx 09-22-2005, 06:28 AM hmmmm, well, the promo on CTV did show scenes other than the fate of the raftees for next week .... so I think we'll be getting some of both
Nicole 09-22-2005, 08:47 AM hmmmm, well, the promo on CTV did show scenes other than the fate of the raftees for next week .... so I think we'll be getting some of both
Can you tell us more about what was shown in the CTV promo? Thanks!
aesmart 09-22-2005, 09:12 PM I think that Jack recognized Desmond from the way he said "...brother..." rather than by recognizing his face. Desmond's manner of speech was quite unique in their "running the stadium steps" meeting. Maybe they'll put their guns down and Jack can get Desmond to explain what he really meant by his instruction to "...lift it up..." Who knows, it might be helpful later...
The CTV Promo says Locke finds Kate in the hatch.
What I suspect is that Adrift takes place the same time as Man of Science, Man of Faith. They most likely might even end at the exact same time in the "Lost Timeline" meaning that the stand off with Desmond might actually be addressed in episode 3, where we find out what the hatch really is (and its Locke-centric too).
Remember, at the time when Jack is pointing his gun at Desmond, Locke says "Kate's fine", which means hes already seen her.
Noeland 09-22-2005, 11:53 PM Jack tells Desmond to stuff it, Desmond shoots Locke and kills him, then Jack shoots desmond, find Kate, and they take a shower together, then have a disco in the living room area of the bunker drinking protien shakes and eating canned fruit. They will finally sick the monster on the rest of the survivors, deciding it's best if they all die.
After this, they will find out the outside world has been destroyed by nuclear bombs, and all they have left is thier bunker and effed up island to restart the human race.
Or, maybe something different will happen, but I think all the signs point to the thing I just said!! ;)

joepace 09-23-2005, 09:13 AM I wouldnt be surprised if all 3 of the first episodes happen at the same time
1.Jack sees whats in the hatch ends with desmonds appearance.
2.Raftees
3.Locke sees whats in the hatch, middle has desmonds(w/Jack) appearance, concludes by turning what we really saw in the hatch on its head.
The teaser for MOSMOF showed very different takes above the hatch, some shots shown in reverse(mirrored), many extended, some reshot etc.
Im guessing we'll see more of lockes perspective of events up top, and then how he makes his way down.
Of course theres no reason any of this couldnt happen in episode 2.
mooncricket 09-23-2005, 07:57 PM It struck me as funny or strange that Desmond would hold a gum to Locke when Jack already had one on him and thought that would make Jack throw down the gun. Do you see what I'm saying? If Desmond tought Jack was willing to kill Locke why would he think Jack cares about Locke's life enough to put his in Desmonds hands?
The only thing I can think of and it's pretty weak is that Desmond already knows it's Jack and knows that he would not kill anyone or want them killed.
Any other ideas?
joepace 09-23-2005, 09:18 PM Jack threatened Locke with the gun first, thinking he had done something to Kate and maybe the cause of the music/lights.
By pointing the second gun at Lockes head, Desmond has made it clear Locke is innocent and didn't harm Kate, thus saving Lockes life.
CybeRise 09-23-2005, 09:56 PM I don't think Jack will put the gun down. Anyone with half a brain nows that if you put your gun down you are just as dead as the guy with the gun to his head. If I was Jack I'd shoot Locke in the leg then shoot Desmond in the head as locke falls over.
joepace 09-23-2005, 10:38 PM Which will result in Jack shooting the floor, then Locke in the chest. Unlike you, not everyone is a trained marksman.
If Desmond had any intention of shooting the castaways he would have done it with the AK47 as they came down the hatch, else all that security that he set up was a waste of time.
Michelle Friday 09-24-2005, 08:34 PM I think Kate will sneak up on Desmond and bonk him on the head, then
when he comes out of it, Kate, Locke and Jack will be sitting there
ready for him to explain.

Lol, yeah! They need "bank robbery Kate" to do her kicks and shots so they can get access to those washing machines ... my theory is that the boys are getting grouchy and tense because their clothes need some of that fabric softener Desi's been hording .. I mean don't we all get a little more emotional when we're battling with static cling? :3:

I know that was my first thought: "Clean clothes!!!"
number_22 09-26-2005, 03:44 PM Did anybody notice that Desmond seems to have russian weapons only ? AK-47 etc. ...
MidKnight 09-26-2005, 04:04 PM Do you have pics of the weapons? I just caught a quick glance, but the gun to me looked like an SKS, not the Kalashnikov rifle. Again, quick glance and I could be wrong but I'd love to see a screen cap.

If I remember right, a SKS is a top load carbine, not a magazine loader, like an AK-47. More like the M-1.
Yeah. Here's some good pics of a SKS (http://http://world.guns.ru/rifle/rfl01-e.htm).
number_22 09-26-2005, 05:40 PM Checked it again, it`s an AK47 with wood stock at the end. I can`t figure out what brand the hand gun is though, but it seems to be from eastern Europe
number_22 09-26-2005, 05:46 PM Whoa... The handgun really is russian, it`s called Makarov ! Check here: http://www.cascade-ballistics.com/mak-hg.jpg
Does this have any significance ?
EDIT: Just found out that the third handgun seen in the armory is russian too:

MidKnight 09-27-2005, 11:16 AM Well, in the gun community Maks are known for being guns that won't break the bank but are consistance perfomers. They go bang every time. And they are numerous. However, they are not exceptional handguns, such as HK, SIG, and the like. So they are found everywhere. Not surprising that they would stock the 'hatch amory' with them.
Yes, SKS is top loading, but that's what I thought I had seen. The SKS has metal sticking down from the bottom also, just not the magazine. I was compeltely wrong about that one.
standing on the beach 09-27-2005, 12:15 PM dude, didn't notice the make on the guns (i'm a mom) but did notice how sexy the washer and dryer were. in a hatch full of old school equipment (dirty funky old computer) turntables instead of CD player, he sure did have the market cornered on the washer and dryer :) i could use one of those!
MikeToth 09-27-2005, 04:53 PM The washer and dryer looked, to me, like the new Neptunes. Not sure though. I leave that to my wife. (She'll hit me later, I'm sure.) :frown:
MidKnight 09-27-2005, 07:00 PM Just rewatched the scene and noticed the W/D combo too. Very out of place with the lava lamp, turntable, and reel to reel machines.
However, I did manage to identify (with help) another weapon in the 'amory' it's a Tokarev TT-33. Except his were chromed.

There were two the 'armory' just as he walked in. They are chinese knock-off of soviet weapons. This all does point to a cold war left over...
