Since the Canadian and American previews are usually different, I thought you might like to hear a synopsis of CTV's preview:

It showed Sawyer pulling and unconscious Micheal onto what's left of the raft and doing CPR on him, Locke finding Kate in the hatch (it seems to be what happened between the time Kate and Jack went down), and Desmond coming up behind Locke with a gun asking "Are you him?"

Yeah I was really excited that we got to see that preview....especially since we weren't given any raft scenes at all in the premiere...and I was dying for a little tidbit on exactly what to expect with them next week ;)

That we don't see Jin in the preview. The description for episode 3 has him captured by the tail enders along with Sawyer and Jin

I've been thinking there are three things Desmond could mean by "Are you him?"

1.) "Are you Ethan's replacement?"

2.) If Ethan was Desmond's coworker, so to speak, he might have warned Desmond that there's one guy on the island who's sharp enough & obsessed enough to give them
trouble.

3.) Or......."Are you the one who uncovered the hatch?"

So, I agree, Ethan could indeed have been Desmond's coworker or there are indeed "others" apart from those two.

i guess that's true with the bunk bed, but then the bunk bed could have just been built into the unit, like i mean, whenever this underground hatch thing was built, that's what they had to put in, doesn't necessarily mean that ethan was the one in there with him, or that anyone was in there with him. That is a very good point though

Man, the US preview sucked compared to this one. I can't even remember what the US one was now it was that bland. Although, I do remember it saying something about "next week the fate of the lostaways will be revealed" which I thought must be just a bunch of hogwash or else they're ending the season real early this time. Man I miss living in Canada.

I like the idea of Desmond expecting Locke. I think it would be interesting if Locke stayed to hang out in the Hatch with Desmond for a while, learn secrets or play backgammon or something, while Jack and Kate high tail it out of there and get back to the rest of the lostaways.

LOL :laugh:. My initial thoughts were that Desmond was looking for Jack when he asked the question, but then I figured he'd have to have a really bad memory to mistake Locke for Jack! I think there's a good chance he was looking for the person who's been digging at his front door for the past few weeks! ;)

Do they show who Desmond is speaking to when he says it?

Yep. They show Locke coming across Kate, who looks like she's waking up after being knocked out. She looks up at him and tells him to look behind him, and that's when the camera shot changes to show Kate's POV, which is Desmond standing directly behind Locke with his gun. That's when he says "Are you him?".

Maybe Desmond is waiting for a replacement and think Jack is him. The next shift maybe? Was Ethan his bunker buddy that made the mistake of going outside the hatch and getting "sick." Did Ethan break the seal and that is why Desmond has to take the serum?

Just a few random thoughts?

About Desmond's reaction to seeing Jack...

I don't think it was a look of recognition either... (although he might have if the show hadn't ended just that second *grrrr*) Personally, I think Desmond looked more afraid then anything?

Maybe Desmond is an earlier version of Locke. He might have been a castaway like him who believes and thinks the same way as Locke. This would explain somewhat of why Locke was being pulled by the Island's "security system". Maybe Locke is being chosen as his replacement or partner. I dunno, just a thought.

Pirate- That`s pretty interesting. Who knows how many people there have been on the island.

Maybe Desmond was wondering if Locke was that Jack person Kate was screaming for when the music was blaring.

I'm pretty sure that the scene with the music and Kate screaming happened after Locke was "caught" by Desmond.
