My theory is that Ethan was not currently an "Other". He may have been in the past which is how he knew they would want children. My thought is Ethan fell out of favor with the "Others" and wanted to bring Claire's baby to them to get back in favor with them.

If Ethan were an "Other" wouldn't he have just used his super-human strength to kidnap Walt and bring him to the "Others" if he were on an official mission from them?

It is possible that Ethan was Desmond's bunk mate and that Desmond knows there are "Others" on the island and they were trying to get Claire to have an in with the others. I tend to think that Desmond is not an Other but is something else entirely.

Can't wait to see it when I'm wrong.

I think that maybe Ethan was another stranded person on the island. I think Desmond's bunkmate was most likely in the party of men who took Walt. This is all the same night they were out searching for him.

I also think that Ethan was part of the group that was quarantined. ??????

after watching "The Island", some things definitely echo in Lost

i was thinking that maybe the Quarantine sign was only designed to prevent Desmond from coming out
just like they made the clones believe the outside world was contaminated in The Island

About Ethan, i've been saying for the last 6 months or so, that he only was another castaway, from a previous "landing" on the island

yeah... but then, wher'd he gets his clean clothes? There is a washing mashine down the hatch...

(well ok, he could have sneaked them off the wrekage, but somebody would have noticed a hobo salvaging baggage to find his size...)

My guess is he was Dd roommate ... and he tried to take Claire to do smthg to the baby (injection) somewhat related to the experiments going on here. Problem is that Ethan does not look like the kind of guys who are listening to old 80's cool tunes...


I read somewhere that we can see him breathe when he is buried... scary

Perhaps the anagram of Ethan Rom's name is in reference to being the "Other Man" in the hatch?

Ive posted the same thing previously!!!!

IMO he clearly wasnt/isnt an "other" because he thought theyd want a baby,not a grown child so he's "out of the loop".
I think he thought "giving" them a baby would either A) Get him "back in" with the Others
*OR* B) Like Danielle thought she could "make a trade" of sorts.
