or at least what i'm seeing him see...

i think the red moat is a big clue, along with the record resuming at the exact point it scratched off before...

seriously, before i examined this scene, i was convinced that it was two different hatches we were seeing, or at least two different perceptions of the same hatch. i don't think that's the case anymore. talked myself out of it.

i'd welcome your take on what i saw him see.

sorry if some of this is redundant stuff, i was away yesterday and didn't have the time to try and catch up on my thread reading

I wrote that in another thread and it seems it raises important questions :

the blocked wall startled me when I first watched the ep... there was something weird in this whole sequence.
I think there was a fire there sometime ago ... you can very well see black traces on the yellow part of the wall... and the cans below look liked they kind of melted (or are they covered with cement?)
What is interesting is that the cement used in the high part of the wall seems to cover those fire marks like it was done after the fire to consolidate...
And maybe very recently (an explanation to Desmond dirty hands ?)

And what is even more strange is this: after watching the sequence over and over again I still cannot tell which part of the wall is shown to us right after Jack's key is attracted. It should be the center part, but the image doesn't fit. Here is what we see (contrast enhanced):

It looks like there is a hole in the middle... do you agree with me, is it a hole? And what is behind it? The open space which is out the "biosphere dome" ? or some of the metallic/volcanic rock ?

Anyway, we never see this rectangular form on the wall... The most approaching thing is a horizontal rectangle which we can see when camera first ascends from the melted cans to the top...

I need help on this, guys. This may be unsignificant but who knows...
