Michael’s Major Character-Defining Moments and Quotes
* Lawyer: Ooh, I guess we could file an injunction so she couldn't leave the city, but--
Michael: Yeah, that. I wanna do that…..they’re not taking my son away!
* Michael: Look, if he can hear me, he knows that I'm alive, that I'm coming for him, that I'm going to get him back! Right now all I've got is that maybe my son can hear me. Does that make any sense to you?
* Michael: I'll do it by doing it. Walt is my responsibility, too.
Susan: Then let him go.
* Michael: Hey, little man. Oh, I guess I can't call you that. I mean, 'cause look how big you are. So... you and I, we're not gonna see each other for awhile, Walt. Uh, but you are gonna have a great life. I know your mommy--she's gonna take real good care of you, and Brian is... gonna take good care of you, too. But you know what? I just want you to know that no matter where you go, I...that your daddy...yeah, your daddy-- he loves you very, very much. And I always will. Always. Okay?
* Michael: I never should have brought him on the raft. I'm gonna get him back. I'm gonna get back my son.
QUOTES
* Sawyer: Well, at least Walt is on a boat, probably wrapped in a blanket with a cup of cocoa, while we're on this piece
* Desmond: Are you? Are you him?
* Desmond: What did one snowman say to the other snowman?
* Kate: What do you think you're doing?
Locke: Doing what's best for all of us.
* Claire to Charlie: You always try to be funny when you don't want to answer a question.
* Charlie: You gotta be careful there. You know, it's the Virgin Mary. She's holy.
Claire: Didn't realize you were so religious.
Charlie I'm not. It's just, you know, it might come in handy. Be a nice thing to have around.
* Sawyer: I said, it wasn't the flare. Those people that did this-- at first, I thought they were fishermen or pirates or something. Then I got a good look at their boat. You know anything about boats, Mike? Boat like that wasn't built for the open ocean. Water's comin' over the side, first little squall. Maybe got a range of a hundred miles. A boat like that had to have left port from somewhere close, like the island. French chick said the others were coming for the kid. I think they came, Mike.
* Michael: Don't you ever say his name again, ever!
Sawyer: What you gonna do, splash me?
* Locke: That simulated sunlight-- is that because you never leave?
Desmond: Sick-- as in ill, as in dead.
Locke: Is that why it says "quarantine" on the inside of the hatch?
* Jack: Is this what you were talking about, Locke? Is this your destiny? "All roads lead here."
* Sawyer: Well, how about that? Current brought us back. We're home.
* Jin: Others! Others!
Random
* Michael gave Walt a stuffed polar bear when he said goodbye for the last time
* Michael got a cheap attorney who didn’t even know his name, or that Susan was not his ex-wife
* Jin runs out of the jungle with his hands tied behind his back
* Add to Jin’s english vocabulary: Others
* There is a lot of food in the hatch
* The shark has the DHARMA symbol on it’s body
* Locke takes his shoes off when he’s in the hatch because he realizes they are making noise when he walks
* Apollo candy bars make their debut
ADDITION:
Classic children’s bickering and banter:
* Sawyer: Well, at least Walt is on a boat, probably wrapped in a blanket with a cup of cocoa, while we're on this piece
Michael: Get off my raft.
Sawyer: What?
* Sawyer: You got a better idea? Then go to hell.
Michael: You're never gonna be able to do it by yourself.
Sawyer: I thought we parted ways, Mike.
Michael: We're caught in the same current.
Sawyer: You still talking? Come on.
Sawyer: You got a band-aid?
* Michael: Don't you ever say his name again, ever!
Sawyer: What you gonna do, splash me?

Michael gives Walt a stuffed Polar Bear
thesimplicity 09-28-2005, 11:08 PM Q: What did one snowman say to another snowman?
A: Do you smell carrots?
I'm surprised Locke didn't know this, working in a children's toy store and all.
shootfire 09-28-2005, 11:14 PM Connection- The conference room looks just like the one where Claire was supposed to sign away her parental rights. Why is that? Wasn't she in Australia?
LockeLove 09-28-2005, 11:15 PM Q: What did one snowman say to another snowman?
A: Do you smell carrots?

Wow. My hearing is shot. I thought I heard what did one silhoutte say to the other. lol.
shootfire 09-28-2005, 11:18 PM Wow. My hearing is shot. I thought I heard what did one silhoutte say to the other. lol.
That's what I heard too. Hmmm... Mass delusion?
LockeLove 09-28-2005, 11:20 PM Michael was in hit by a car. He's been in rehabilitation for several months and is walking with a cane. His hospital bills were paid by Susan and he's losing his apartment. He's also unemployed and on disability.
appleshampoo 09-28-2005, 11:28 PM A few things I noticed, not sure where they fit in on your master list:
- It's clear Desmond has been in the hatch awhile, especially when he called the really old computer, "that box" - did anyone else catch that? But assuming he met with Jack only about 5-10 years prior, and I assumed about 5 or so because it didn't look like it was THAT long ago, how is he not really familiar with computers?
- The command Desmond had Locke type into the computer....Desmond definitely seems nutty considering he "heard" something after 15 but I didn't hear anything and most likely, there was nothing other than the regular noises
- The sign of the Dharma Company or whatever it is was on the shark's fin
- Next week's scenes seem to suggest Locke is really upset about what he finds out about the hatch, its purpose and he's again asking the Island why things are happening, he asks, "why are you doing this" or something
mr. sleep 09-28-2005, 11:42 PM The main thing I got from this ep about Desmond is that he was somehow convinced by ? that the world was either no longer there or infected with sickness. What I had hoped to be a character of great insight is really just some poor sap that has wasted many many years of his life and has lost touch with most of reality. :undecide:
Blamo 09-28-2005, 11:45 PM Other numbers - 108 (hours, minutes?) on the counter after Locke enters the numbers into the computer.
Sawyer’s Nicknames - Calls the bearded Other "Bluebeard."
Dreamers and Hallucinators - Michael dreams of the time when he let go of Walt, then wakes up crying on the raft/pontoon.
Marital Status/Parental Status - Michael relinquishes his parental status.
Flashbacks, Cameos, and Connections - According to Lost_in_Louisiana, Sceve was in Michael's flashback. I'll have to look again.
New Names/Characters - 5 new characters seen briefly at the end of the ep.
Breakdowns/PTSD - Michael screaming Walt's name, waking up crying on the pontoon.
Sawyer’s Stash - One gun (no bullets?).
Health Issues/Injuries - Sawyer's gunshot, "self-surgery." Michael unconscious, Sawyer performs CPR.
Zipdot 09-28-2005, 11:52 PM Yeah, I don't understand how he calls the computer "that box," yet in the ER, we're told that Sarah was hit by an SUV.
Zip
appleshampoo 09-28-2005, 11:53 PM Sawyers Nicknames - sawyer also called Mike "Hoss" when they were talking about the guns
Zipdot 09-28-2005, 11:55 PM Sawyer called the piratey guy, "Bluebeard."
mr. sleep 09-28-2005, 11:58 PM Connection- The conference room looks just like the one where Claire was supposed to sign away her parental rights. Why is that? Wasn't she in Australia?
Just checked on this. It seems it IS almost the exact same room in Claire's flashback. Same table and chairs, same books, only difference is a few lamp changes and the 2 paintings on the back wall are different. So, its either a clue that the flashbacks are totally implanted (since there is no way that Michael's took place in Australia, or that Claire's took place in the US) or, they just got cheap and re-used the set.
coupons 09-29-2005, 12:02 AM Connection- The conference room looks just like the one where Claire was supposed to sign away her parental rights. Why is that? Wasn't she in Australia?
Well maybe TPTB want to keep the costs down (so prem service on this board will only coat $10.00)
That aside
Looks like in was not the VA hosp. Maybe one on the West side because of the twin towers. He never drew the Flatiron Bldg
LuvMySayid 09-29-2005, 12:26 AM Speaking of lamps, the standing floor lamp in the conference room is the same as the one in Desmond's living quarters. Compare for yourself. Sorry, but I don't have the technology to post screen captures.
LockeLove 09-29-2005, 12:31 AM The female lawyer said Michael hadn't seen Walt in 14 months.
(not sure where this fits in) There seems to be a "timer" of sorts. It keeps bepping and Desmond makes Locke punch in the numbers. Once he hits execute the beeping stops.
Nay815 09-29-2005, 12:50 AM When Desmond calls the computer "the box" made me think of Lenny telling Hurley, "you've opened the box!" (According to the forum on old computers, it is an Apple or Apple II....made in the mid '70s which fits with the LP albums and lava lamp.)
Desmond looks really strung out on whatever he is shooting in his arm.
IF those supplies have been there for 25 or 30 years, IF, that candy Kate ate should make her sick, sick, sick!
I also caught the same room as Claire's adoption episode---think they were just being cheap.
LostApril 09-29-2005, 01:10 AM I dont know if they were being cheap...seems to me that the room was like that for a reason.
just a thought
LOST-416 09-29-2005, 01:20 AM One thing not mentioned yet is Jin being kidnapped by...people, and then freed by Michael and Sawyer basically. I think this would go under "Who is Responsible for Saving Someone." Just my two Knuts.
shootfire 09-29-2005, 01:24 AM I dont know if they were being cheap...seems to me that the room was like that for a reason.
just a thought
I suppose it could have been the NY office of Susan's law firm. Maybe they use the same decorator for all of them?
wolfwood 09-29-2005, 01:27 AM not everything in the shaft is ancient...the washer/dryer set seems like they're fairly current Maytag models.
And although the context is a bit weird my friend and I often refer to our computers as "the box"
Blamo 09-29-2005, 01:28 AM When Desmond calls the computer "the box" made me think of Lenny telling Hurley, "you've opened the box!" (According to the forum on old computers, it is an Apple or Apple II....made in the mid '70s which fits with the LP albums and lava lamp.)

I don't think that candy-bar was a regular one. The name on it was something like "Astro," and it was similar to the "Hoo-ah!" candy-bars that are in MRE's (which are derrived from the space program). They (military MRE's) are intended to keep for about 10-12 years, if stored in a consistant temperature. They don't rot as long as the packaging is undamaged, they just lose some of their nutritional value and become less pleasant to eat.
LockeLove 09-29-2005, 01:32 AM For some reason I thought they (the candy bars) were more recent items. I thought for sure they were some kind of energy or protein bar.
LockeLove 09-29-2005, 01:36 AM Possible mirror:
Custody situations. Michael with Walt and Claire's situation with giving up her baby. Plus, like other's mentioned before they both look like the same room.

Thanks for that, Blamo. Hadn't thought of a MRE type thing. But I do get the strong impression that someone has not being delivering supplies to Desmond on a regular basis.
Gonna stop the video on that wall and see how many marks of 5 I can count before it makes my dizzy ;)

I believe it said Apollo..........
Nay815 09-29-2005, 01:40 AM I believe it said Apollo..........
Google states Apollo candy bars are no longer made but haven't yet found when they were made........still Googling. Apollo, like the space program from the '70s? Again fits with interior of the hatch...computer, lava lamp, vinyl albums.
Sam G 09-29-2005, 05:05 PM Desmond may be referring to the computer as "That Box" because it is ancient and frustrating and he knows the progress that has been made.
"That box" may be being used because it hasn't been infected by computer viruses.
PhillyGirl2873 09-29-2005, 05:18 PM Desmond calls Locke - "boxman"
duckyislost 09-29-2005, 05:26 PM There are black and white floor tiles in the hatch living area, although not a checkerboard pattern.
sledgeweb 09-29-2005, 05:33 PM The expiration date on the candy bar is ?-23-04
shootfire 09-29-2005, 05:33 PM Oh, my favorite quote of the night-

PhillyGirl2873 09-29-2005, 06:49 PM By the way, what happened to the Long Lost List keeper? Haven't seen her in Season 2 yet.
car88win 09-29-2005, 07:00 PM Hi Phillygirl, we are here just on another thread as well. Love you guys for finding all this stuff. Most of us can't get the chance to watch it again until later.

The window was a little different too. The window in RBA was square, but made to look like an arched window. Like it was another branch of the same law firm that was going for the same look. Compare the window in these two pics.

I think they intentionally used the same room, but modified it enough to look like a branch office.
sooner17 10-01-2005, 01:42 PM Desmond calls Locke - "boxman"
Phillygirl has it right.
He says, "Do you know how to work that, box man?"
Not "Do you know how to work that box, man?"
that1spunkygirl 10-02-2005, 12:11 AM I posted this on LLL but they want only facts, and I thought maybe, not sure, that you could use this here.
Way back at the beginning of season 1, someone mentioned some sort of magnet therapy that has been known to help people walk again and theorized that had something to do with how Locke was able to walk on the island. Now that we know there is a big magnet in the island, it might be something to look into.
Naughty Paws 10-03-2005, 10:44 PM thanks everyone for your imput and ideas.
