2 HOURS to go, does everyone have out their pens and papers?

Hey Walt! Ready to go. But if it's like last week, I won't be able to take any notes for fear of missing anything. I couldn't take my eyes off the TV long enough to write anything! LOL

Denial is a beautiful thing. It was actually 3 hours. But now it's 2 hours and 40 min. lol

Cin I'm on satellite so I watch it twice the night it airs. None of our 3 VCR's work, and I don't have a disk to tape on my DVD. Sad but true. I am the world's best procrastinator, even when it's stuff I want.

Oh, Walt, are you going to make it into a book? Maybe something to accompany the DVD's?

Oh, Walt, are you going to make it into a book? Maybe something to accompany the DVD's?

moondreamer, there is a new site that will be opening soon, called The Long Lost List. I am just a worker bee, who came in at the tail end. It is divided into all the interesting categories, cross referenced and loaded with cool stuff. This thread is to get new info to add to the site, which should be opening in the next few weeks.

:wavey: I've just finished doing a few more things there and now I just have to make my self stop so I can get ready for the next episode! I'll try and pop on (if it lets us) but I'm sure you can gather good stuff in the mean time. Thanks to all that help out - believe me it'll all pay out in the end - big time!

we used to use one thread for both observation list collections. are we not doing that anymore? i got confused...

NP I'm sure we need both threads. You have a lot of categories that aren't on the LLL.

I drop off things for your thread and I actually have a few things copied for you. I think creme would like this thread to be strictly for observation and no theorizing. That way it's a lot easier to organize it.

Gotta go the premiere's back on.

While we do want to be able to gather the information, we have a certain structure we have established and it is what we have based our site upon. That way we make sure we miss nothing. It's nothing against you or your post at all. Just the way we have gone about doing things and it works for us. That's all. No dissing. I'd like to add, alot of information has come from the items posters have dropped off on your threads not just ours. It's largely based upon everyone's observations, so if it's your thread or this one, it doesn't matter to us. We're just looking for people's input on the show. No hard feelings were ever intended. Hope you guys enjoyed the show. I thought it was awesome myself and I held my breathe there with Sawyer boy howdy! :fear2:

Opening raft scene - Michael says, "Please God!" He's a believer?

Sawyer is the Hero. He saves Mike (as he calls him) from drowning, then resucitates him in an eerily similar way scene to Jack and Charlie after the hanging scene.

Sawyer appears to have medical knowledge. After beating on Michael's chest, he begins CPR. He later removes his own bullet.

CPR connections - this episode, Boone to Rose and Jack to Charlie

Michael's lawyer says Susan has a job in Rome. We were told Amsterdam? Rust lamp in the lawyer's office.

Sawyer calls Michael Hoss after he asks him what he knows about guns.

Sawyer had the 2 funniest lines in the episode. "You gotta bandaid?" and "Whaddaya gonna do, splash me?"

Desmond asks Locke, "Are you him?" Locke replies Yes..........he then says, "Here I am" SOUNDS FAMILIAR

Desmond asks Locke a riddle to test if he is "him" What did one snowman say to the "other" snowman?

Locke tells Desmond some info about them and says the plane crashed 44 days ago.
Desmond looks intrigued/startled. Must be the 40 day quarantine thing.

Locke is asking Desmond how long he's been on the island, when Desmond says, "Shut it"

Desmond says to Kate, "You be a good girl" This makes Kate uncomfortable. In a way that appears she's heard those words before in another bad situation.

Charlie answers Claire with, "I reckon Jack's going to be Heroic" Claire says you always try to be funny when you don't want to answer a question.

Claire asks Charlie about the statue, which he calls the Virgin Mary (immaculate conception). He says, "She's Holy" Claire comments on not realizing how religious he is, which he half heartedly denies. Charlie takes the statue back saying, "It might come in handy. A nice thing to have around"

Sawyer says he got a good look at the Others boat and tells Mike it would have a range of 100 miles. He says it would have had to have left port from somewhere close. Like the island.

Sawyer points out that the French Chick said the Others were coming for the boy and he thinks it meant Walt. Mike and Sawyer continue to go back and forth through the whole episode.

Sawyer refers to the driver of the boat as Blue Beard.

When Sawyers mini raft fell apart, Michael turned his back on him BIG TIME

Susan mentions Michael is almost being evicted from his apartment.

Michael says to Susan, "Then Stop" For some reason I think this is a repeat line?

Susan says that Michael has rare talent as an artist.

Interesting lines by Michael - "I'll do it by doing it" "Let him go" (Jack can't let go)

The floor Kate is on is rubber.

The chocolate bars Kate takes are Apollo.

Desmond says to Locke, "The World's still out there?"

Locke tells Desmond that there are 43 of them, and that 4 just left on a raft.

Locke mentions the simulated sunlight.

Desmond asks Locke, "How many are sick?" "Ill as in dead"

Locke says he hasn't seen that type of computer in 20 years.

Above the computer is a counter with individual flip cards. We see 237 and then 236. Locke enters the cursed numbers per Desmond's orders. Locke asks what is gonna happen when he presses the key, but does anyway. The numbers on the flip cards change to 108 00

They hear a noise in the Hatch. Desmonds asks who it would be and Locke says, "That would be Jack" He later says he's surprised he came, but he didn't hesitate when Desmond asked who it was.

Locke tells Desmond that Jacks their doctor. Desmond looks throught the viewfinder and says, "Your doc has a gun Brother"

When Desmond turns on the music I see a dartboard in the background.

When Desmond shoots off the warning shot, it almost takes out Kate in the ventilation system.

Jack looks extremely confused when he thinks he recognizes Desmond.

I think I saw an emblem on the shark when it swam by. When Michael hit the shark there was blood.

The gift bag Michael has Walt's present of a POLAR BEAR stuffy in, appears to have a sun or sun and moon. Definately astrological looking.

Sawyer wakes up and looks around and says, "How about that" "The current brought us back" "We're Home" Reminds me of his line I'll come back around.

When Jin comes running out of the trees with his arms ties behind him with a branch, he tries to explain what happened to him and manages to spit out "OTHERS"

Canadian preview

Kate sneaks up behind Desmond and bonks him on the back of the head. Similar to Locke bonking Sayid.
Desmond, "Whaddya do? We're all gonna die"
Scene on the beach with people approaching the 3 men. Scene of all 3 being thrown into a pit in the ground, with a shot of Mr. Eko.

Nay815 When Desmond calls the computer "the box" made me think of Lenny telling Hurley, "you've opened the box!" (According to the forum on old computers, it is an Apple or Apple II....made in the mid '70s which fits with the LP albums and lava lamp.)
Desmond looks really strung out on whatever he is shooting in his arm.
IF those supplies have been there for 25 or 30 years, IF, that candy Kate ate should make her sick, sick, sick!
I also caught the same room as Claire's adoption episode---think they were just being cheap.

The female lawyer said Michael hadn't seen Walt in 14 months.

the standing floor lamp in the conference room is the same as the one in Desmond's living quarters.

You could see the twin towers out of Michaels hospital room window.

mr. sleep Just checked on this. It seems it IS almost the exact same room in Claire's flashback. Same table and chairs, same books, only difference is a few lamp changes and the 2 paintings on the back wall are different. So, its either a clue that the flashbacks are totally implanted (since there is no way that Michael's took place in Australia, or that Claire's took place in the US) or, they just got cheap and re-used the set.

blamo Michael dreams of the time when he let go of Walt, then wakes up crying on the raft/pontoon. According to Lost_in_Louisiana, Sceve was in Michael's flashback. I'll have to look again.

LockeLove Kate is in the food pantry with all those crazy symbols on all the food products.

[SIZE=2]Opening raft scene - Michael says, "Please God!" He's a believer?

I didn't notice that, but that's repeated dialogue. Michael says that before firing the flare in EXII.

I'm not so sure. He did appear to do landmarking before starting compressions on Michael's chest (2 finger-widths from the sternum). On the other hand, even someone with basic first-aid knowledge wouldn't have tried to remove a bullet (with fingers, no less).

His initial hammer-fisted technique is very much like Jack working on Charlie (as you wrote). :)

Michael's lawyer says Susan has a job in Rome. We were told Amsterdam? Rust lamp in the lawyer's office.

I think they are IN Amsterdam, and she wants to take him to Rome. This was 14 months after she had taken Walt.

Thanks Blamo. The lightbulb just went off on the Rome Italy thing. I knew he lived in NY, Amsterdam, Italy and Sydney. Doh

Locke asked a question about the simulated sunlight, then asks if there was a second entrance.

Penguin and Snowman jokes.

LockeLove Possible mirror:

Custody situations. Michael with Walt and Claire's situation with giving up her baby. Plus, like other's mentioned before they both look like the same room.

Did anyone see a Dartboard?

Michael's lawyer mispoke his name too. I didn't catch it. Anyone? I'm wondering if it will be someone interesting.

The scene with Michael and Susan and Walt. Michael said something I didn't catch. This is what I have, but I know it's wrong.

"Let him know it's from me....once in a while"

I also thought they were the same room, Michael and Claire. But when did this Michael flashback happen? In "Special" Susan talks about Brian adopting Walt and he is shocked. But in this episode (2:2) Susan tells him the same thing and he is equally stunned. I don't get it. When did she tell him? Or is Michael's memory overlapping Claire's?

-Desmond is expecting/hoping for a certain person to 'find' him.

-Desmond is shocked that this person found him here on the Island. Did Desmond expect to be here on the island all this time?

-Desmond doesn't know what this person will look like, but expects him to know the answer to the snowman riddle.

-Desmond seems frightened of some sickness that he believes runs rampant on the island (perhaps the whole world?)

-Desmond seems skeptical at first (IMHO) when Locke tells him he was in a plane crash. He perhaps considers it as true after though, he asks if any of them are sick. Has he been under siege by the 'Others' and maybe thinks this is a trick? Jack sneaking in next with a gun would probably confirm his fears on this.

-Desmond seems skeptical about the idea of anyone using a raft to get off the island. Perhaps knows about the 'corporate shark'. Anyone get the feeling Desmond isn't running the show, is a very low level worker? Maybe here against his will perhaps?

Locke took his shoes off and left them in the tunnel because they were squeeking on the floor.

Desmond asks Locke if he "knows how to use one of those?" (wording?) As though a computer is something unusual for the average person to use, which of course is not at all unusual these days. Has he been down there since the pre-PC era? mid 80's? Jack's flashback couldn't have been that long ago.

When Locke is punching in the numbers on the computer the flip clock is counting down seconds, then appears to reset to 108 minutes when he hits execute? So does someone have to enter the numbers every 108 minutes and the beeping alarm alerts you when time is running out? This would drive anyone crazy. What happens if the numbers don't get entered? Desmond seems to believe whatever it is would be catastrophic.

Neither Locke or Kate give any indication that they have ever seen Desmond before, unlike Jack.

Kate stacks two wooden crates to reach the vent.

Desmond doesn't seem to know who Locke and Kate are, anything about the plane crash, or even that "the world is still out there". This leans against the idea that he is conducting surveillance of the island. He seems to have no clue about what has been going on outside.

How did Jin get to shore?

Edit: The great white shark sure makes you wish someone had flipped over the big white polar bear Sawyer shot to check for a logo doesn't it? Neither Michael or Sawyer saw the logo. How many shots did Michael empty into it? Was it the same as the number Sawyer used to take down the polar bear?

Jin,I assumed, swam to shore or drifted on a piece of the raft.He was raised around water by a fisherman!

The MIchael/Susan exchanges take place in NY.
Susan and Walt went to Amsterdam, came back to NY before leaving for Rome. You can see the city skylines in the window.

Good thought. I gave up on counting everything, even though N.U.M.B.E.R.S. are my fav, because so many others do it too. I haven't seen the number of shots mentioned anywhere.

dark piranha Let's not forget that Claire's baby started kicking at the moment when Jin gave her a piece of fish (way back early last season). There's something fishy going on here.

thenumbersarebad did anyone notice that in the screenshot of the twin towers on the bottom it says starring naveen andrews, who's character is an ex-republican guard...could it mean sayid was involved in the attacks?...wow im probably totally overanlyzing this

Speculation -
Cold War spy operatives were referred to an Snowmen
some of the guns Desmond had in the safe looked Russian
Desmond was supposed to meet someone in the stadium, but didn't know who. 'Lift it up' was a code phrase that Jack didn't understand.

luckyeight24 was the timer set back about the same time Walt was seen talking backwards? Im thinking not only does the computer rewind the timer it rewinds something else .........and walt said "push the button, no button is bad" backwards. i think there is definitly a connection between the timer being reset and the walt talking backwards

Land of the Lost I looked at the albums Desmond has. Only one I might I.D. is Led Zeppelin III, maybe.

Twin Towers = Apollo is a twin = As a symbol in alchemy, the swan was neither masculine nor feminine, but rather symbolised hermaphroditism or 'the marriage of the opposites', fire and water = Scott/Steve = ying/yang = good vs evil = faith vs science

BrownEyedGrrl I'm one who doesn't believe that the flashbacks are always the truth- if not completely false altogether. Like, I don't believe that Kate really robbed that bank that way, to steal back a little toy plane. I think it was more a metaphor or a fantasy, depicting how strongly she feels about what she would do to get back something in her childhood (not neccessarily something physical). Could be wrong, but that's something I've theorized for awhile.
So, maybe the twin symbolism refers to the duplicity inside all of us. Matched with the other ying/yang, good vs evil, faith vs science references, it makes some sense, even if you do believe that the flashbacks are real.

Dharma symbol resembles the Korean flag - Korean's independance day is Aug 15th. Sun and Jin are Korean as well as the evil Mr. Paik

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/b/b4/Enneagram.gif/200px-Enneagram.gif

enneagram
All knowledge can be included in the enneagram and with the help of the enneagram it can be interpreted. And in this connection only what a man is able to put into the enneagram does he actually know, that is, understand. What he cannot put into the enneagram makes books and libraries entirely unnecessary. Everything can be included and read in the enneagram. --P.D. Ouspensky, In Search of the miraculous

I teach it in conjunction with a psychiatrist who has a deep interest in the Enneagram. The psychotherapists want it as a very useful, hot tool to work with normal, high-functioning people. You see, there is no psychology for the normal and high functioning person....
I've had ONE's who have so repressed their anger that they don't think they're angry....

the spiritual agenda is paramount, which is this conversion process. Whether we know it or not, we're all transforming, because we're hungry for the opposite of our vice. Even if we don't know about our vice, we suffer from lack of its opposite tendency.
----Helen Palmer, of the Oral Tradition

The fundamental premise of the enneagram is that each of us has one dominant (not exclusive) energy that drives us in everything we do. This dominant energy is our greatest gift so we use it too much and it becomes our chief fault - or sin. This energy, like a prevailing wind that bends a tree permanently, sculpts our interior geography and shapes our entire life.

SWAN Sadhana meditation:

The SWAN meditation technique involves observing and witnessing one's own strengths, weaknesses, ambitions and needs in an objective way and going to their source. In the words of Swami Niranjanananda, "SWAN meditation (hamsa dhyana) aims at developing awareness of our state of being by taking us through a process of observation and awareness of the deeper ahamkara (ego) aspects of life. The true nature of ego is living with absolute awareness of actions and reactions. It is the realization of the positive aspects of ego which is the purpose and aim of SWAN meditation."

silveranswer "Swans
A swan's song is also called a final farewell, believed to be dedicated to the god Apollo. Swans are associated with the moon."
from website: http://members.aol.com/ivycleartoes/birds.html

*********************Kate grabed some "Apollo" candy bars*********************

"Poetic harmony and learning, or lover thereof; light, love, grace, sincerity, perfection"

from website about meanings of symbols in family crests: http://www.fleurdelis.com/meanings.htm

"Because many water-fowl could both fly and swim, the ancients had a real fascination with them. Many believed that these animals had a connection between natural and supernatural worlds. The migrations of some birds (disappearing when days grew short and coming when they grew longer) also added to their beliefs. Egypt linked swans with immortality, just like they did the geese. The Greek priests, who worship Demeter, the goddess of agriculture, are believed to be descended from swans. Old Celtic and British myths believe that lost loved ones turn into swans, with gold or silver chains on their necks to symbolize their enchantment. The transformation
is believed to take place during their Samhain festival, where the gates of the other worlds open up and souls are free to pass.
King Edward of England, in 1304 took his vows of knighthood over two white swans decorated with gold nets and crowns. Since then, the swans became associated with royalty; and, having swans was strictly exclusive to the monarchy.
In Britain today, the swan is still considered a symbol of royalty.
In 1697 black swans were discovered in Australia. This caused a great stir in Europe, because up until then, it was believed that swans were suppose to be white. At least,
they were all white in Europe!"

from website: http://www.brownielocks.com/twelvedaysofchristmas.html

"While the peacock is a symbol of material manifestation, the swan stands for the ethereal. It represents the presence of divine inspiration in our world.
The association of the swan with wisdom and creativity appears also among the Greeks who considered that bird related to the nine Muses. It is said that when Apollo was born at Delos, the event was marked with flights of circling swans.
It was in the form of a swan that Zeus assaults Leda and in so doing, engenders the twins -- the Gemini -- Castor and Pollux, who hatched from eggs, and their sisters, Clytemnestra and fatefully beautiful Helen whose elopement with Paris is cause for the Trojan War."
. . .
"Its disposition is not as mild and gracious as its appearance suggests. In the breeding season cobs can be territorial and aggressive to intruders, and they have been known to fight to the death. They do not hesitate to threaten other animals including humans who venture too close to their nests, extending their long necks to issue a warning hiss, which again reminds us of the snake. There are many accounts of people who have been injured in encounters with a swan. Some have had an arm or leg broken by the powerful blow of wing or beak, but contrary to popular belief they do not bite. "

from website: http://www.khandro.net/animal_bird_swan.htm

"Probably, the most famous belief about the swan is that it only sings when it is about to die. This song easily became an omen of death. It is believed to be extraordinarily passionate and beautiful, filled with the joy of a being which sees the glory of another life before it. This song has been compared to the joyous deaths of saints and martyrs and is exemplified in the Bible's description of the death of Stephen the Martyr:"

cincykelly Swan symbolism and mythology
Because of its pure white colour, the swan is a symbol of light in many parts of the world. Though in some regions it was considered a feminine symbol of the moon, in most it was a masculine symbol of the sun. In ancient Greece, for example, the swan was linked to Apollo, the god of the Sun. The god Zeus took the shape of a swan to get close to Leda, with whom he had fallen in love. And in Celic myth, a pair of swans steered the Sunboat across heaven. As a feminine symbol, the swan represents intuition and gracefulness, and goddesses such as Aphrodite and Artemis were sometimes accompanied by swans.
As a symbol in alchemy, the swan was neither masculine nor feminine, but rather symbolised hermaphroditism or 'the marriage of the opposites', fire and water. It was an emblem of mercury, as it was white and very mobile, because of its wings.
In Germanic myth the Valkyries had the power to transform into swans. They were warrior goddesses, bringing victory to one side and defeat to the other, and deciding which warriors could enter Walhalla after death. They would sometimes take off their swan-plumage and appear in human form, but if a man then stole their plumage, they were forced to obey him. However, the Valkyries could also be united with a man through love instead of force. The Valkyrie Kara accompanied her lover Helgi in war, flying over the battlefield in her swan's plumage. She sang a song so soothing that the enemy lost the will to fight. Also in Celtic and Siberian culture stories existed of swans taking off their plumage and turning into maidens.

When things are going well, and people are kind and treating us with respect, it is not so difficult to wish for them to be happy. However, if our love for others diminishes as soon as they cause us problems or fail to appreciate us, this indicates that our love is not pure. For as long as our good feelings for others are conditional upon their treating us well, our love will be weak and unstable and we shall not be able to transform it into universal love. It is inevitable that people will sometimes respond to our kindness in ungrateful and negative ways, and so it is essential that we find a way of transforming this experience into the spiritual path.

Sounds like Michael

Mokele-mbembe (monster) http://www.trueauthority.com/cryptozoology/mokele.htm

darkpiranha That's my official new name for the world beneath the hatch. Calling it just "the hatch" seems a bit limiting now. So I'm naming it. It's the Hatch-itat. (Hatch-itat for Inhumanity)

As to my naming credentials, I was the one that came up with the Amputron 5000, the device that Jack had developed to chop Boone's leg off last season.

bigmouth It was recently suggested (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showpost.php?p=501014&postcount=10)that Demond's use of the spotlight might indicate that the Others are sensitive to light, and that this sensitivity might be due to their illness. I now believe I've found further pseudo-scientific support for this theory--support that may also help illuminate (multiple puns intended) the "sickness."

Many have noted before that the pineal gland is also referred to as the "mind's eye"--a central metaphor in the show. The pineal gland secretes melatonin, a hormone known to affect our sensitivity to sunlight:
Quote:
Only in very recent times have medical scientists identified the hormonal secretion of the pineal gland, finally isolating it in 1968. The essence was called melatonin, which means 'night worker' (from the Greek, melos, meaning 'black', and tosos, meaning 'labour'). Those with a high melatonin output react strongly against sunlight because it affects their mental capability; they are essentially night operatives. Melatonin is called the 'hormone of darkness' as it is produced only at night or in the dark.
Also, those afflicted with overactive pineal glands tend to be very spiritually aware:
Quote:
Exposure to an excess of sunlight actually makes the pineal gland smaller and lessens spiritual awareness, whereas darkness and high pineal activity enhance the keen intuitive knowledge of the subtle mind while reducing the stress factor.
(Full text here (http://www.nexusmagazine.com/articles/starfire2.html).) What if those with the "sickness" have overactive pineal glands? I'm drawn to this speculation because it dove-tails neatly with my theory that the "sickness" is basically a cult of the island (or whatever controls it). It also connects well with the Lovecraft speculations. As anyone who has read Call of Cthulhu knows, the creature therein communicates with artists via vivid and disturbing dreams not unlike the mural. Lovecraft attributes these visions to the pineal gland.

The Others movie - A woman who lives in a darkened old house with her two photosensitive children becomes convinced that her family home is haunted.

hatchelor pad ! that is a classic !

Someone (who views more threads than I have time for) really should start a thread of favorite fuselage lingo. Sceve, Seabillies, Waltnappers, etc.

Another great one I saw recently from elfdream was Desi, Lord of the hatch.

Lit/Film Reference:
Don't know if somebody already mentioned this here, but Lit / Film reference = The Shining / Kate in the Pantry scene. Hopefully someone will find good screen caps.

Recurring Props:
Sawyer quips that Walt is probably sitting on the boat sipping hot cocoa, the next scene of Kate in the pantry shows a clear shot of hot cocoa on the shelves.

Also note recurring space age theme in the Apollo candybar and the Green Lantern Faster Friends #1 comic book.

Geodesic domes in Desmond's dwelling also echo Faster Friends, and incidentally remind me of the ceiling over Walt's head in the solo shot of him standing in the foyer of his home in Australia. It would take more time than I've got right now to dig up the shot, but I it is likely referenced in the triangles lists at LLL.

These are from TV.com, I haven't checked into them, but I've seen a Deadman's switch thread somewhere here.

The word 'storm' can be seen in the mural in the underground tunnel when Locke passes it.

When Locke hits the execute button, a countdown timer is reset to 108 minutes. This is very similar to an episode of "The Outer Limits" titled "Dead Man's Switch." In the episode, a chosen man is buried in an underground bunker and entrusted with the task of hitting a 'dead man's switch' on the bunkers control panel. Hitting the switch resets a countdown timer and prevents a doomsday device from being initiated.

:rotflmao:
Looking at your avatar, the Amputron is certainly classic lingo as well!

How about Screme?

Here's my brief notes in no particular order.

Theme/resolution: Sawyer takes a life (Frank Duckett), Sawyer saves a life (Michael). This perhaps represents a sort of redemption, and in Exodus he was singing Redemption Song by Bob Marley. It's also a contuination of the opposites/ yin-yang / black white theme.

Recurring props:
- Lamp in lawyer's office - is this that same darned lamp we keep seeing? I forget what it looks like now.
- Boots that Jack found in MOSMOF were Locke's, removed by himself for silence.

Island Names / Nicknames
- Accidental name: The lawyer called Michael Dawson the wrong last name the first time. What was it?
- Sawyer calls Michael Hoss,
- Sawyer calls the Leader of the Seabillies "Blue Beard"

Games (in Desmond's Dwelling):
- Ping pong table for one
- Dart board - can anybody see where the darts are at if there are any on the board? 15 and 16 are important numbers in the popular darts game Cricket.

Weapons:
- Desmond's rifle, ask the gun dudes what it is
- Locke slipped a jack knife into Kate's pants while tying her up, she used it to cut her binds in the pantry.

Mysteries. Who is him? (Desmond to Locke: "Are you him?" ... asks for confirmation by means of the riddle "What did the snowman say to the other snowman?") <-- put in The Others mystery category for now.

Timeline: Locke tells Desmond the plane crashed 44 days ago. This is a crucial marker in helping us refine the timeline.

Employment Histories: Locke tells Desmond that Kate is a fugitive and he's "a Regional Collections Manager for a cardboard company... boxes mostly." Make note in each of their resumes on the reveal.

and of course... Polar Bear sighting: Michael gave stuffed bear to Walt on their parting when Walt was a toddler.

I thought the same thing, because the scene from this week's episode has to be taking place much later than Special. In Special Michael was still in a wheel chair and it had only been (can't remember, I think 2-4 months since Susan had last heard from Michael) and now it's been 14 months since she took Walt to Amsterdam. I chalked it up to the idea that when Susan told Michael that Brian wanted to adopt, he just didn't understand or think it through that that would mean he'd have to sign away all his parental rights.

What I think is even more interesting is that we don't know if he did or not. (Or did I miss that?) And since father abandonment is a key issue on this show, I think this could be an important future point.

The Dead Man's Switch idea is very similar to something from the movie Metropolis by Fritz Lang.

Here's a summary:
It is the future, and humans are divided into two groups: the thinkers, who make plans (but don't know how anything works), and the workers, who achieve goals (but don't have the vision). Completely separate, neither group is complete, but together they make a whole. One man from the "thinkers" dares visit the underground where the workers toil, and is astonished by what he sees...

In that movie there is a worker who has what he thinks is a very important job to keep movie hands on a clock type face in line with lights that light up. The effort nearly kills him, and it happens nonstop, 24 hours a day. There is always someone doing it, but it's actually a pointless job that serves no purpose other than to keep the workers feeling like what they do is important.

creme
10-01-2005, 11:01 PM
I'm going on the assumptions that a) he didn't realize that he'd be giving up all his parental rights and b) that Michael did sign the papers and voluntarily give up his rights. The parting was too amicable for there to have been a contentious court battle.

Overall, I think this flashback series was awkward and clunky.

Did anybody else think the room they met in for mediation looked an awful lot like the one in which Claire met with the first set of adoptive parents? It obviously wouldn't be the same - because she was in Australia and that was in NY, but they felt eerily similar to me.

Is there a category for people being bound? (literally)

In this episode we have Kate with an electrical cord and Jin with bamboo and rope (?)

There are many previous instances, I'm sure I probably missed some.
Kate in handcuffs on the plane, Pilot 2, Ex1 flashback (TR flashback as well?)
Sayid in Danielle's hideout in Solitary, and in TGG flashback with handcuffs (Ex2 flashback?)
Nadia in Solitary flashback, other prisoner Sayid interrogated
Jin in handcuffs HOTRS and IT (rope?)
Sawyer in Conman
Boone and Shannon in H&M
Skeletons in shackles on the black rock

Naugthy Paws may already have a list like this, might want to check hers first so you don't redo work already done.

Note: Kate was wearing hand and ankle cuffs. Both were found on the island.

Season 2, Adrift: Jin hands bound behind back and running from the Others.

Desmond asks Locke, "how many are sick?" ( I'm paraphrasing, don't remember exactly) very similar to Danielle's question to Sayid in Solitary.

He's the second person to believe there is a disease or something that causes sickness on the island.

Also, this is old, but in I think House of the Rising Sun, when Jack finds "Adam and Eve" he says that it takes 40-50 years for clothing to degrade like that, but when Locke and Boone find the "priest's" body in the tree, Locke says that usually the clothing would breakdown in about a year or two.

One last thing and then I swear I'll quit posting! LOL

Locke seems to either defer to or have more in depth knowledge of Kate's stealthy and violent fugitive skills. By slipping her the knife and tying her, he trusts her to save them both, and shows that he possibly believes she is the more skilled of the two of them, despite her playing her own skills down in most of their survival/tracking/etc activities.

I saw somewhere on this site somebody mentioned that Jack's tag at the hospital noted 1997.

Is that confirmed with a screen cap? Any possibility it might be 1987? I ask because Jack's do was much more 80s than 90s looking to me, plus it puts the timeframe of that flashback closer to a 16 year time frame for Desmond to have been on the island (same as Danielle).

Maybe I should put this note in MOSMOF.

I posted on the room somewhere else, I'm certain that it's the same set, a real location. I'm thinking they did it on purpose, to show a connection between Claire's situation and Michael/Walt's especially because it was shot from the same angle.

It also makes me wonder if they were hinting that like Claire, Michael tried, but was unable to give up the rights to his son.

Spunky, your help compiling a list of his knife gifts would be awesome, and I do like your idea of him returning Lost things. We can definitely work that in somewhere. Just be sure to include the episode references. We'll of course give you credit for helping compile that list.

LLL is fact/observation based so while the magnet theory is cool, unless there were some sort of direct or indirect reference to it (as a potential cause for Locke's injury) in an episode or confirmation from VIPs we *probably* couldn't include the information there. We do have a sectioni on "Clues to Locke's Mysterious Illness" and depending on the info you dig up, we might be able to include it as a "Fascinating Other Fact" which we sometimes use for noting outside information. Either way, it will make interesting fodder for theorizing here. I'm not trying to discourage you, just want you to know the parameters we use for inclusion there.

If you look at this hatch logo http://lost.cubit.net/pics/hatchLogo.jpg Courtesy of dangerdork, I still think that in the center, it's not a yin yang, it's a globe. That's a stylized Earth in the center, or half Earth anyways, the part on the right (edited: i meant right, lol i'm a dork!) looks like it could be Africa.

I'm having a really hard time catching up with things here. It's hard to sift through newbie posts and get to the substance from people who have been around a while (no offense, newbies).

Questions, if anybody can point me in the right direction (meaning link me to the substantive discussion threads) :

Has anybody made a connection between the logo and I-Ching?

I keep seeing reference to Dharma. Is that supposed to be the company name?

I've been in on a few conversations on the logo and I-Ching, mostly I think in the MOFMOS section. I'll try to find. The outer rim of the logo is from the I-Ching though. I know that for sure, I used to dabble in it.

Dharma appears to be the company name (or now possibly Pharma) as it's in the logo which is stamped all over everything in the hatch, and the shark, the way a corporation would do.

I saw dangerdorks Dharma vs. Pharma idea. Sorry, but it really looks like a D to me, much as I really like the idea of yet another connection to Emily Locke's admission papers.

I'm starting to stumble around the I-ching related threads now. I figured people would pick up on that, it's an obvious connection. I'm sure car88 already has it, but:

bagua symbol:
What you're talking about is probably the Bagua Mirror (the I Ching symbols with a mirror in the center) It is put outside houses to prevent negative Chi to enter the house

Good links to sample image of bagua symgol on this thread, even though poor niksta9 got slaughtered on her first post.

The bagua's are also used in the practice of feng shui. The interior of the hatch appears to be mostly round, and round rooms with no sharp corners are supposed to be good feng shui. And it's use for preventing negative Chi, along with the word Dharma makes sense. Dharma comes from the Buddhist faith.

I think it's a D too, I think it just makes more sense with what else is on the logo.

Geodesic domes in Desmond's dwelling also echo Faster Friends, and incidentally remind me of the ceiling over Walt's head in the solo shot of him standing in the foyer of his home in Australia. It would take more time than I've got right now to dig up the shot, but I it is likely referenced in the triangles lists at LLL

CREVE I love this connection and your new name. I stared at that dang ceiling for a long time trying to find some significance.

More on the Shining connection (sorry I don't have this all in one spot).

Walt's apparition and backwards speak in MOSMOF is reminicient of the little boy who said "redrum" in the Shining. One poster noted that music in that scene was Shining-like, though we need confirmation.

ETA: I didn't even think about jack knife when I posted it. Probably no big deal.

How about the name "screme" ? ;)

Hey all, long-time listener, first-time poster. Was just watching Exodus pt. 1 and Walt is worried about getting on the raft - he says something to Michael like "What if we get attacked by sharks?" And then they do in Adrift. Anyone else think he had a premonition?

Good observation! Not sure if he has premonitions if he did he would have felt it about the others you would think. But we'll use that in Walt's Special Powers section.

I also have this to add:
Common theme - Hospitals
Jack, works at a hospital.
Kate's childhood friend worked at a hospital.
Kate's mom was in the hospital.
Locke had his operation at the hospital after discovering his dad's kidney problem, and possibly his leg issue as well.
Michael after his car accident.
The likelyhood that Sarah hit Shannon's father and they were both in the hospital.
Hurley was in the mental ward
Locke's mom was in the mental ward

Sounds like we need more than Jack on the island. That and everyone is either a clutz or they don't watch where they are walking. They seem to trip a lot you think?

I found this very interesting, for more info : http://ikashmir.org/hindudharma/5.html

The Doctrine of Dharma

The thought of dharma generates deep confidence in the Hindu mind in cosmic justice. This is reflected in the often-quoted maxims: "The righteous side will have the victory." "Truth only prevails, not falsehood." "Dharma kills if it is killed; dharma protects if it is protected." "The entire world rests on dharma."

Dharma is the law that maintains the cosmic order as well as the individual and social order. Dharma sustains human life in harmony with nature. When we follow dharma, we are in conformity with the law that sustains the universe.
Dharma is of four kinds: universal dharma, human dharma ,social dharma and individual dharma
Universal dharma includes the natural laws associated with the physical phenomenon of the universe, such as the laws of matter, science, and planetary motions. Human dharma means the human actions which maintain the individual, social, and environmental order. Social dharma is exemplified in human actions associated with professional, social, community and national duties and responsibilities. Individual dharma consists of individual actions associated with one's individual duties and responsibilities.

Practical Significance: Dharma provides a rational approach to distinguish right from wrong and good from evil. Duties and responsibilities are emphasized more than rights and privileges.

Practical Significance: This doctrine encourages righteousness and fosters hope for mankind, since divine intervention eventually destroys evil and restores balance in the world.

Swans and the number 108
( same source ): http://ikashmir.org/hindudharma/5.html

A swan is said to have a sensitive beak that enables it to distinguish pure milk from a mixture of milk and water. A swan, therefore, symbolizes the power of discrimination, or the ability to discriminate between right and wrong or good and bad. Saraswatî uses the swan as Her carrier. This indicates that one must acquire and apply knowledge with discrimination for the good of mankind. Knowledge that is dominated by ego can destroy the world.

Rudrãksha necklace: Rudra is another name of Shiva. Rudra also means "strict or uncompromising" and ãksha means "eye." Rudrãksha necklace worn by the Lord illustrates that He uses His cosmic laws firmly-without compromise-to maintain law and order in the universe. The necklace has 108 beads which symbolize the elements used in the creation of the world

Okay, here's my list of Locke's knife handouts by episode:

walkabout - it appears he gave knives to Kate and possibly Michael offscreen to hunt boar.
Kate is seen examining hers.

hearts and minds - to boone after he hits him and ties him up

confidence man - to sayid after implying it was sawyer who hit him on the head.
"just in case there's a next time" - Locke

special - to walt when he teaches him to throw it. michael takes it away.
to michael who says to Locke, "throw him the knife", who then drops it to walt when walt is
being attacked by the polar bear

all the best... - to kate and boone, when they go hunting for claire

adrift - to kate so that she could untie herself and save them

and, stuff you probably already have.
Locke, Michael, and Sarah all lost the use of their legs for a period of time.

Cast members with absent fathers

Sawyer - dead, suicide
Jack - emotionally distant off and on
Locke - given up for adoption
Walt - given up for adoption
Aaron - father didn't want him
Jin - claimed his father was dead out of embarrassment and left him
Shannon - dead, car accident
Boone - divorce
Michael - possibly, makes it sound as if his dad is dead in "Special"
Hurley - possibly, his dad is nowhere to be found in "Numbers"

In Exodus I Danielle says her team member Montagne (sp?) "lost an arm". Ray Mullen, who's farm Kate worked in Tabula Rasa, also lost an arm.

The airport lounge area in Exodus has a ceiling like that of the geodesic dome in the hatch.

I agree. I think it seemed extra important because of the music and the amount of time they held on that shot. I think they were trying to make sure you noticed what was happening, and the idea that Locke really believed Walt would be able to do it. What was really interesting about that scene is that after Locke tells Walt to visualize and see it in his mind's eye, the music starts up and they cut to Vincent who seems to sense something strange happening. Like an invisible sound or force.

Jack gave the knife back to Locke after he threw it.

We've seen Kate in a food pantry before, in the TR flashback on Ray's farm where she hid her money.

Sawyer has pulled Michael out of the ocean before in HOTRS. Jin was pummeling him in the surf and holding him down in the water. Sawyer helps him out of the surf after Sayid knocks Jin off of him.

In the HOTRS flashback to the party at Sun's house there is a scene in a hexagonal gazebo (dome) where Sun and Jin kiss. (I was hoping it was Octagonal like the Dharma logo, but the bench in the middle of it is a hexagon, likely mirroring the roof outline.) definitely some interesting geometry things going on.

I'm still working on the "bondage" list.

When I set up that section at LLL I want to use a table format.

It would be very helpful if you could include the following info:

Epi - Name - Type of Bondage - Where Bound - Captor - Method of Escape? - screencap link

2:02 - Kate - Desmond's Rope - the Hatch pantry - Locke tied her up on Desmond's orders - Houdini like yoga moves - pic link

If it's easier you can do it like this:

2:02

the Hatch pantry
Locke tied her up on Desmond's orders
Houdini like yoga moves

You know, I think we're at the point on the island where we need to start having some support groups meet to deal with some stuff.

11:00am--- Abducted Anonymous (for those that have been held captive by the Others for any length of time).
Noon--- Sixth Sense Society (for those that see dead people)
1pm--- Survivor's Guilt Complex (for those that were chased/attacked by the monster, but lived to tell the tale)
2pm--- Arzty Fartsy Club (for those that have to deal with having bits of Artz all over them)
3pm--- When Animals Attack! (if you've been chased by or attacked by what appears to be a normal dangerous wild animal)
4pm--- Down the Hatch (for those that have to mentally deal with the fact that there is a whole world under the island that they didn't know about)
5pm--- Tie me up, Tie me down (for those that have spent a considerable amount of time on the island tied up by someone else on the island)

Feel free to add your own.

Dude, that rocks. Thanks so much!

I'd include those last three in the main list, but not Locke being wheelchair bound. I think Vincent definitely counts.

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this show is so rewarding.

I found this post offsite.......it's on the list to investigate *rolls eyes*

In the Chinese culture, "168" is regarded as a highly successful number. In Cantonese, "168," read "yut look baat," which sounds similar to "a road of good fortune." This belief has inspired many Chinese to find ways of embedding this number in any possible way, including house numbers, phone numbers, and vehicle license plates.

I'm hoping to find 168 on one of Kate's license plates.

My lord, I go away for a couple days, and look what happens. 100 new posts to get through. But, Wow, nice work. I'm still working on the list of references to "Want" and "Need" in season 1, but it'll get there. I work 60 hours a week, so it's a little slow going. I have the "wants" 99% done and will post them when it's not 1:30 in the morning. Tomorrow, I promise. Actually, today, but later.

But has anyone researched St. Sebastian? Isn't he the patron saint of archers? It's been a while since I read Zen and the Art of Archery (good book, by the way), but it seems relevant to Jack in some way and is also somewhat related to Locke's knife throwing lesson with Walt.

And the 3 Tom's? Could that be some sort of reference to Doubting Thomas, the Apostle? The one who lacked faith?

2:02 - Kate - Desmond's Rope - the Hatch pantry - Locke tied her up on Desmond's orders - Houdini like yoga moves (Quoting Creme)
If the bondage is just loose enough, this is easy to do. I've done it. Don't ask. But I'm sure Locke knew this, since he is the one who tied her hands and gave her the knife. He knew she would get out of it.

Ducky,

Would you like to do a similar list for people held hostage/captive? (Dogs count, too).

ETA: On second thought, would there be too much overlap? Maybe they would be a combo-category somehow. It seems there are at least a couple extra to add - like when Sayid was interrogated at the airport.

duckyislost
10-04-2005, 12:22 PM
These are the additions I can think of if you want to make it a combo list.
1.10
Charlie and Claire abducted by Ethan in the jungle
Charlie found hung in a tree in 1.11, Claire walked out the jungle and was found by Locke and Boone in 1.14

1.12
Everyone in the bank Kate, Jason and goons held up in New Mexico.
Presumably Kate took off after she got the envelope and they were freed

1.24
Sayid questioned in the Sydney airport by airport security, they let him go when he explains himself

1.24
Walt kidnapped by the others at sea
Unknown if he is free

1.24
Aaron kidnapped by Danielle in the jungle - taken to black smoke beach
rescued by Sayid and Charlie

2.01
Desmond has Locke and Kate captive in the hatch
Kate's story in the bondage list
Desmond has a gun on Locke

There have been several briefly held at gunpoint scenes, I don't know if they should actually count here.

Last night I had a thought. :msntongu:

For my list of Locke handing out knives.

In Adrift, Desmond tells Locke to give him the knife and Locke does. It wasn't his choice, or a gift, so I don't know if it counts, but he did give it to Desmond.

Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon was from Ohio. Also the Wright Brothers.

Hence the name I guess? This is an interesting find, now that we're heading into outer space on Lost. The missions to the moon were called Apollo.

First landing on the Moon was in the Sea of Tranquility, 23.63 degrees East. Second landing was in the Ocean of Storms, 23.42 degrees West. Notice the names of the picked sights and how they contrast. Note: First two landings were Apollo 11 & 12 (11+12= 23!). Just exactly what does NASA know?

Okay, here's the Want list for LLL.

1:1
Kate: You want me to sew that up? (Jack's wound from crash)

Rose: My husband keeps reminding me that planes want to be in the air. (To Jack on the plane)

Charlie: I'll come with you. I want to help. (To Jack, going to find the cockpit)

Boone: Hey, we're going through some clothes, sorting them. I see you found your bag. C'mon, you want to give us a hand? (To Shannon. She says Not really.)

Kate: Why are you trying to pick up a signal? Aren't we trying to send one?
Sayid: Yes, but what you want to see here is little bars. Bars would show the radio's getting reception.

Boone: (To Shannon) What do you want me to say? You're sitting on your *** staring at bodies.

Locke: Walt, do you want to know a secret?

Sayid: I don't want to waste the batteries

Sawyer: Fine, I'm the criminal. You're the terrorist. We can all play a part. (To Shannon) Who do you want to be?

Sayid: Don't use the gun.
Kate: I want to take it apart.

Kate: I don't care what you believe.
Marshal: Oh, I know that's true. That has always been true. You sure you don't want some more juice?

TR

Ray: (To Kate) So you want to tell me why you're trespassing on my property?

Kate: (To Jack) It was a distress call from a French woman. She said that the others were dead. Something had killed them all. She was alone on the island. It's been playing for 16 years, Jack. I wanted to tell you.

Sayid: (about the Marshal) The others are getting upset. They want to know what's going on inside the tent.

Sawyer: (to Kate) I sure wouldn't want to be the one with that gun right now. Because everyone sitting out there listening to that poor boy scream all night knows what's got to be done.

Marshal: I want to talk to her.
Jack: Tel me what she did.
Marshal: I want to talk to her alone. She got to you too, huh?

Marshal: (to Kate) The last thing I heard before the crash... you wanted a favor.
Kate : I wanted you to make sure that Ray Mullen got his 23 grand.

Sawyer: Look, I get where you're coming from being a doctor and all, but he wanted it. (shooting the Marshall)

Kate: I want to tell you what I did; why he was after me.
Jack: I don't want to know. It doesn't matter, Kate.

Walkabout

Jack: (to Claire about a mkemorial service) Yeah, sounds fine. Whatever everybody wants.

Shannon: (to Charlie) I was just going for a walk. Do you want to come?

Boone: (to Jack about Rose) I just thought you might want to do it. You're the one who saved her life

Jack: (to Rose) If you want to be alone, that's fine. But you have to take care of yourself.

Jack: (to Rose, different scene) I'm just saying if you wanted to say goodbye to Bernard....

WHITE RABBIT

Sawyer (to Shannon about bug spray) Your money's no good here.
Shannon: Then what the hell do you want?

Kate: (to Claire) I'm sorting the practical clothes from the impractical. Wanna help?

Christian: Do you want to come in? [young Jack does] So, you want to tell me what happened?

Christian: ...You don't want to be a hero. You don't try to save everyone because when you fail....you just don't have what it takes.

Margo: This time it's different. I want you to bring him back. What?
Jack: He hasn't talked to me in 2 months, Mom.
Margo: You haven't talked to him in 2 months.
Jack: He doesn't want me to bring him back, trust me. Let one of his friends.

Kate: (to Sun about the stolen water) Just take it easy, alright? We just want to talk.

Locke: I'm an ordinary man, Jack. Meat and potatos. I live in the real world. I'm not a big believer in magic. But this place is different. It's special. The others don't want to talk about it because it scares them.

Jack: (to FA, trying to get coffin on plane) I want you to listen to me, okay? Because I'm asking you a favor, Crissy.

HRS

Kate: You don't have to get all quiet on me. I just want to know.
Jack: Well, you're not going to know.
Kate: What's the big deal?
Jack: It's not a big deal. It's just something I did. I had my reasons and I don't want to put it out there.
Kate: It's just that you and your tattoos don't add up.

Jin (to Sun in flashback) Sun, look at me. I love you... but I don't want to elope with you.

Locke: Is there something you want to tell me, Charlie?

Jack: (to Sayid about Sun after the fight) You're sure you don't want me to talk to her?

'Decorator' to Sun: During your trip, at the airport, at 11:15, you make an excuse and walk out of the airport. Bring nothing! ..... After that you will be free to move wherever you want.

Locke: (to Charlie) I want you to look up. [Charlie does and finds his guitar]

Kate: (to Jack about going to the caves) I don't want to be Eve.

MOTH

Kate: (about mug shot) I take better pictures than that. Smaller, too. If you want something for your wallet.

Jack: (to Kate) I want off this island, too. But we both know that's not going to happen any time soon

Kate: What do you want, Sawyer?
Sawyer: Heard the doctor was vacating the premises. Thought I'd best lay claim to my new digs before somebody else did.

Charlie: (to Locke) Did you hear what I said? I want my drugs back.

Kate: (to Sawyer) I get it now. You don't want off this island because there's nothing for you to go back for. Nobody you miss and no one misses you.

Jack: (to Hurley) Hey, want to help me grab the rest of those bags?
Hurley: Oh, could I?

Liam: What? You don't want to be famous?
Charlie: It's not about all that. I only care about the music.
Liam: Yeah, your music. Your songs that got us signed. I'm just the clown with a pretty face that sings them. And you want to take away my chance to be somebody?

Hurley: (to Charlie about the guitar) Listen, uh, man, Jack just wants you to find another place for it. He's moving supplies and says it's in the way.

Charlie: I sing the chorus to You All Everybody.
Liam: Oh, yeah, sorry about that. Got caught up n the moment. The crowd wanted it you know.

Michael: Eight years construction work. Hey, Walt, get back man. I don't want you near the rocks, okay? And take the dog with you.

Charlie: I want my stash, Locke. I can't stand feeling like this.

Sayid: We'll place the second antennae here. (to Sawyer) You want to help?

Kate: (to Sawyer) I just don't want to miss Sayid's signal. Remember, I'll fire the flare, you set off the antenna.

Liam: Charlie, I don't want to come back. [to the band]

Charlie: (to Jack) Hey, you want to hear my confession? Might take a while

Charlie: Give them to me.
Locke: This is the third time. Are you sure you really want them?
Charlie: I've made my choice.

Okay. That's the first seven episodes. Kudos to lost-tv.com for the transcripts. I'm a hunt and peck typist, so I'll be listing more after a little break. But I think even only citing a third of the season shows the importance of Want in the show.

I haven't been able to find one either, and I'm not sure its been discussed here, but doesn't it appear that there's some kind of cloth or hole on the dartboard around the bottom left hand part of the dartboard. For reference, the numbers in this segment of a dartboard are 16-7-19-3. It appears that it is just a part of this segment void on the picture as if something is either over the dartboard in this area or there is a hole there.
(Note: In Orientation, there is no void on this dartboard)

540 days divided by "5" = 108
As I've mentioned on a few other threads, not sure if its been mentioned here already (since I'm late to the game... very late... this week): IIRC, 5 is the number on Matthew Fox's tattoos, which are supposedly being built into Jack's character's story.

Another thing I've noticed:

At the beginning of the Dharma Orientation video, there is an intro piece of music on the film. The end of this is a fairly prominent piece of Lost's orchestral soundtrack, and I believe that would be the first time of the show that an orchestral theme has been heard within the lives of the characters (I don't count "You All Everybody").

The most prominent (that is, memorable) example of the piece of music I'm referring to would be in Exodus, Part 3 as the camera pans down the hatch, as well as in the "theme" of the Disc 3 menu of the DVD, but I know it's been played fairly often through the series.

It's not really anything important, just something that stood out to me.

EDIT: Looks like I've been posting in the wrong thread, heh... seems I clicked over to Adrift's. Most of this is probably already in the Orientation thread, so NM.

baryonyx..........I've confused us both. I posted Orientation stuff on the Adrift thread. I deleted the big post, but I'll leave this one and repost it on the LLL Orientation thread. Come with me and we'll talk about it over there.

Here's a screencap. The focus is on Locke but you can see the dartboard with the void in the background. Click here for dartboard. (http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=736&pos=274)

Ah, I see what your saying now about that area that's not there. I know there's a full better shot in Orientation I think, I'll have to use them both. Thank you so much!

Well, thats the thing. In Orientation, the dartboard is regular. No void. But I saw it in 2 different occasions in Adrift and both times the dartboard obviously had something on it at the same spot. In Orientation, this thing is not on the dartboard.

Is it located in the same area?

It appears to be in the same place. In Orientation, right after Jack and Locke finish watching the film and before Locke says, "We're gonna need to watch that again," there is a pause where neither speaks and you can see the dartboard clearly on the wall. This time the whole dartboard is visible. There is no void. Here's the cap from Orientation (http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=737&pos=235) - No Void in this one.

Thanks Scuba, that will help fuel the entry in games.

Creme told me to post this here. Hope I am doing this correctly and according to the thread "wants". Haven't read all the pages so if any repeats, sorry. Also, I'm not sure if just anything goes here or you have different LLL's for each episode. If you do have different ones, I can't find them  so whoever, place anything I put here in the wrong place in the right place, will ya?

The part of the hatch that Boone and Locke uncovered is shaped like an eye.
In "Turn of the Screw" there is a great deal of symbolism concerning eyes and how you can not always trust what they reveal.

Desmond took a stuffed bunny with him when he left.

Although the Apollo candy bar wrappers did not look ancient, the box they were sitting in did.

The Orientation film had been spliced together for repairs or it was purposefully altered.

In "Special" Michael is struck by a gold colored car (sorry don't know the kind.)
In "Walkabout" Locke is struck by a gold colored car.
In "Born to Run" Kate and Tom crash into a gold colored car.
All three of these gold cars appear to be the same model to me.

Creme, hope this is ok. Please email me the web site and tell me what I did wrong.
Thanks,
Nay

Great list, I can't think of any other observations to add. But I did want to make a comment about the year of Jack and the hospital badge. I don't know how old Jack is, but 1987 seems way to early for him to be a doctor. By my understanding of medical school, he would need to be at least 28 to be a doctor.
18 - grad high school
22 - grad from college
26- med school
27 - intern
28 - resident
If he is 28 in 1987, which was 18 years ago, he would be around 46 in 2005. IMHO... it makes more sense for it to have been 1997 and he is now around 36 years old.

I don't know if anyone caught the lawyer's names from the credits, they weren't in the original press release for Adrift.

Today there is a new press release on ABCmedianet (http://www.abcmedianet.com/pressrel/press_disp.html?seas_id=001648)regarding a rerun of Adrift that gives their names.

Saul Rubinek as Finney (Michael's Attourney)
Jeannetta Arnette as Calloway (Susan's Attourney), she is also called "Lizzy" by Michael's attourney

BTW now we've had Beth, Libby, Lizzy - all derivations of Elizabeth.

If Desmond crashed on the Island, why would he care about the password? The answer to the riddle. Kelvin died, did he pass it on to Desmond? Still why would he feel it was his responsibility?

I've always wondered if Ana could be short for Anabeth? I watched tonight and caught the Lizzy too, but didn't think of name repeats.

Yes! It was driving me crazy because both of those lawyers looked SO familiar, but I couldn't place them! I recognized him from Frasier and her from "Head of the Class".

I'm glad they put their names out there!
