In the promo he asks Locke "is it you" maybe in another Locke flashback we will see the hatch dude in it?

If it was dessie he would have asked Jacko that same question right?

They didnt really have time for that last week. They could have intentionally dragged it out to do that this week. We'll see shortly though!!

After I watched last week's episode, I was sure that Desmond recognized Jack in that split second.

Tonight, I don't think so. Maybe he IS a twin or a clone.

I thought maybe the "is it YOU?" was regarding whoever he was waiting for - someone he didn't know personally, but was expecting. Maybe the person the numbers broadcast was meant for, or something.

He didn't seem to recognize Jack, but he's been living for who knows how long without a good night's sleep, and that scope gave him a kind of fish-eyed perspective...

Plus the theory that Desmond meets every charater on his race around the world would suggest that Dessie would also recognize both Kate and Locke.

DRAT that darn accent! Somebody please post what "the secret question" was that Desmond asked Locke. It sounded like gibberish to me. :confused: No dang wonder Locke said, "I have no idea what you're talking about."

My first thought of "is it you?" was based on the time the light came on after Boone's death when the light FIRST came on last season. With all of those mirrors and considering how bright that light is couldn't Desmond have seen Locke's face?

I expect Desmond to recognize Jack in next week's show; he will come out and
join the cast, every one will eat good! Kate will pass out the candy and the
Tail people will realize Sawyer, Michael and Jin mean no harm, are from the
same plane, and they will go in search of the rest of the gang. Then they

Just what I was going to say! I had taken notes and notated that as I thought it would be important. What Desmond said to Locke was "Are you him?" - twice!

I didn't catch that. I assumed he was waiting for a replacement or a savior to rescue him from the contamination. I never thought of him being Des's clone. I was too caught up with what was in the hatch.

Long time watcher, but very new poster. It seemed to me the smirky look on Desmond's face was one of recognition. Like "remember me?" I guess we will find out soon enough.

Yes, I think Desmond recognized Jack! That look over Locke's shoulder sure seemed like a clear message -one of I dare you not to know me!

Desmond had the advantage of knowing Jack's name and occupation so maybe that clicked something. When you think yer survival is being threatened and someone in invading yer space when ya havent seen another person in years I dont think he could have any kind of expected reaction.......

I was thinking of a clone/twin or something theory too. But I really don't see how "Are you him?" has anything to do with that. I just came up with the idea because he doesn't seem to recognize Jack and it took him awhile to say who he was. (Which could always just be attributed to him having not socialized in a long time).

I took the "Here I am" as Locke simply improvising - attempting to fool the guy into thinking he was "him".

That actor's accent, however, there were two times where I had no idea what in the heck he was saying.

i was wondering what he had asked him after he asked "are you him?" i couldn't hear what he said but i got the definite impression it was something for locke to prove it was him.

Locke asked him what his name was, I think when he was still pointing the gun at him, but it might have been when he was sitting at the table. Anyway, he said his name was Desmond, and then asked Locke his name.
