SNOWMEN. It was a very common code name back then. I have thought Desmond was a spy as soon as I saw him with the telescope, which is also known as a "spyglass".

View Full Version : Cold War era operatives went by the name . . . Noeland 09-29-2005, 12:48 AM SNOWMEN. It was a very common code name back then. I guess I'm a bit too young to remember the Cold War. :D diamondschwin 09-29-2005, 01:10 AM what does snowmen have to do with anything?.... was there a reference to the word snowmen? ForeverLost19 09-29-2005, 01:21 AM Snowman was a code word for a specific famous spy. Also makes me think of the novel "The Spy that Came in Out of the Cold". chellekay 09-29-2005, 01:31 AM my husband was saying the same thing . . . that is was a code name ForeverLost19 09-29-2005, 01:33 AM And in another little hidden tie-in to Alias, "Snowman" was the code name for an assasin that Sidney killed. Noeland 09-29-2005, 01:44 AM Yeah, I think there are going to be some ties between the shows. Wasn't there somehting from last season too? But on Alias? Diamond - Desmond asked Locke "what did one snowman say to the other snowman?" as a way of trying to verify who Locke was. Once he realized he was faking it, he asked him that question. u2sarajevo 09-29-2005, 02:29 AM Last season on Alias "You All Everybody" was played on a jukebox, or at a party. shanzy288 09-29-2005, 02:41 AM the answer to the riddle is "Do you smell carrots?" Get it. snowmen- their nose is a carrot. It's an old children's joke daftbrain 09-29-2005, 02:50 AM I thought the answer is "have an ice day". blondefilmgirl 09-29-2005, 03:11 AM I really hope they don't tie Alias and Lost in together too much. BurningStar4 09-29-2005, 03:41 AM Desmond wouldn't have been involved in the Cold War though would he? He was with Jack in that stadium and it wasn't over 8-10 years ago at most probably. Lost_In_Louisiana 09-29-2005, 05:25 AM I thought the answer is "have an ice day". Okay, now did you get that from my brainless posts or did you really remember that from somewhere else??? I've posted it a few times but got shot down.... ;) There must have been a joke like that because that's exactly what I remember too! jbdean 09-29-2005, 05:53 PM I really hope they don't tie Alias and Lost in together too much. Me too because I've never watched Alias and don't plan to. jbdean 09-29-2005, 05:55 PM Okay, now did you get that from my brainless posts or did you really remember that from somewhere else??? I've posted it a few times but got shot down.... ;) There must have been a joke like that because that's exactly what I remember too! I think it doesn't really matter what the "real" reply is because if it's a code question, chances are that the reply will not be the same as the joke. If the joke is well known, then that would up the chances of the wrong person being able to answer it. |
