Desmond does not seem to remember Jack. When he looks through the telescope he asked Locke who is that. We'll have to wait to see if Jack jogs his memory or if Desmond doesn't know him.

The twin theory comes into play. Also, did you see Desmond running through the jungle on next week's preview. There must be someway out. Where is he going?

I don't think he recognizes Jack either. But if he did I would have been more suspicious. He met this guy what about 6 years ago had a 5 minute conversation with him! That moment was important in Jack's life, not his. Plus he really recongized him from his 'brother' comment. If he had just seen his face would he have recognized him?

Well, hopefully they'll finish up that scene next week. They've seemed to pretty much leave off on that scene where Jack is holding the gun on Desmond and Locke twice now! But I think there's more to Desmond and Jack...I think he'll recognize him!

And Jeana I did notice
that Desmond is running through the jungle next week...I had to play it in slo-mo to make sure. But it sure looks like him to me.

I think desmond is a couple marbles short of a set, the dude has to type in a set of numbers every 108 minutes, OR ELSE!!! I agree with Smiley with a memorable moment of Jack's life might just be a forgotten moment to someone who has been locked in a hatch for a long time (dovetails on wall, not sure how many, but well over 360). I think its pretty clear from the scene that Desmond does not remember Jack, but I'm guessing maybe in the 3rd episode he might.

There goes my theory of desmond collecting the castaways, damnit!

My theory was that everyone had met Desmond somewhere but he didn't recognize Locke or Kate either. The connections of everyone on the island has to mean something.

Sadly, we'll have to wait another week for Jack and Desmond's joyous reunion, where they reminisce about sharing a water bottle in an unused stadium. I was watching Desmond's face, and it's hard to tell whether he recognized him at all (maybe not, without the hairpiece), but it seemed like he clearly wasn't expecting him. So if Desmond did something to cause the plane to crash (which his conversation with Locke would tend to bely), he didn't seem to be "after" these people in particular.

Not supprising, really. He first see's Jack th4rough the lenses, which are distorted and grubby, it's a dark, high tension situation, and it's arguably been at least 10 years. Jack doesn't recognise him until he says "brother", even though he gets a good look at Desmond staring malevolently over Locke's shoulder.

Is it every 108 minutes of every 108 hours? I was not sure by looking at the thing that was counting down.

I am pretty sure it is 108 minutes. This is twice in one night that the counter has had to be reset.

did anyone else get the idea that Desmond thought the world was gone? when he asked Locke about flying from Sydney to LA he said something like, "it's still all there?"....so maybe Desmond was in some religious cult that battened down the hatches (pun intended) to survive "armageddon" ??? maybe they took over some defunct military installation to get ready for the end of the world...not realizing that there were "others" on that island....hmmm. just a thought and sorry if this has been mentioned before. i didnt do a search :)
