first of all congrats on the emmy and thanks for being on kaidys show ~~~those of us on the east coast don't get to interact too much with "TPTB" but it was really cool of you going on and chatting for a bit
i do have one question though ,how did you first get into doing the ironman competitions? i bet doing them over in california and Hawai'i it has got to be tough to keep your eyes on the course with all the beautiful scenery...beaches ....and greenery...

Hi bucki4life, thanks for the message. I loved being on Kaidy's show and I'm always pleased to be able to connect with such wonderful fans. To answer your question, I first got into triathlons in 2003. My writing career wasn't going so well at the time and I was extremely frustrated with the way things were going. I figured I needed to do something that offered me some tangible measure of accomplishment, so I signed up for a triathlon. It was very difficult, but I did it and I felt great, so I did another. And another, and another. And eventually I decided to go for the ultimate...an Ironman.
