When Desmond asks Locke if anyone has show signs of being "sick", I had this sinking feeling that maybe one of the first symptoms is "hearing whispering"...

I hope not, because that means Sayid, Shannon and SAWYER have symptoms!

ohhh good point I never thought about that, but I don't think that's the case. The reason is, is because Danielle hears the voices. She knew the others from her group were sick, and got rid of them, however she never once said she thought she was or made any comment about it. I think if that were one of the symptoms and she were sick, she never would have told sayid about people getting sick and to "watch them closely." JMO
