"The Third Policeman" was shown when Desmond was packing up. So why is it important?
Also, Locke picked up a book when he was looking at the book shelf. I *think* it was "The Man Who Was Thursday." Is that right?
What do you suppose these mean?

Yeah, there it was...So subtle and so interesting. I have the exact same version with the same cover. There certainly was that key shot that forced you to see it. Something tells me Desmond has read it over and over.
It certainly didn't play as big as part as was rumored it would in this episode.

Ah, must just have the same stock cover as my copy of "Thursday." Bargain book.
We're talking abuot the bright green book they showed on Desmond's bed when he was packing up. About half of the cover on the right edge of the screen. They told us in an interview a week or so ago that they would be showing the book in this episode. I'm just wondering why. Which is the million dollar question.

Hm... I missed the spoiler/interview that this book would be a part of the episode. I've never heard of it before, but I looked it up on Amazon immediately following the episode and found the synopsis to be interesting:
Book Description
Fiction. The last of O'Brien's novels to be published and now reissued by Dalkey Archive, THE THIRD POLICEMAN is Flann O'Brien's brilliant comic novel about the nature of time, death, and existence. Told by a narrator who has committed a botche d robbery and brutal murder, the novel follows him and his adventures in a two-dimensional police station where he is intruduced to "Atomic Theory" and its relation to bicycles, the existence of eternity (which turns out to be just down the road), and the view that the earth is not round but "sausage-shaped."
