Cardielost 10-06-2005, 12:29 AM By George, I think you're right! Cardie theoutsider 10-06-2005, 12:44 AM Here is a comparison of the people in the filmstrip and the others on the boat. I think you are right. I could be them 15 to 20 years earlier.... http://humpys.net/images/theothers.jpg MPmom 10-06-2005, 12:52 AM I had to post just to say that the term Sciencebillies is killing me! Nay815 10-06-2005, 01:06 AM that scientist couple looked an awful lot like the old sea billy and that woman on the boat.... By George, I think you're right. Nice catch :) Didn't see Cardielost's post until after I posted mine ----*grin* RaverDave 10-06-2005, 02:59 AM The question is whats happened to them in the last 25 years to turn them into deliverance style pychos Quiksilver13oi 10-06-2005, 03:05 AM hmm, i like the idea better that they were adam and eve toocoolforschool 10-06-2005, 03:06 AM the outsider nailed it. the others are without a doubt the people in that orientation video. guess the writers really did have some kind of plan from the get go. ilgandy 10-06-2005, 03:08 AM The film said they were doing parapsychic studies so they would have known about Walt and his powers. LisiBee 10-06-2005, 03:09 AM Wow, you guys are good, this is really intriguing. Amber 10-06-2005, 03:09 AM Here is a comparison of the people in the filmstrip and the others on the boat. I think you are right. I could be them 15 to 20 years earlier.... http://humpys.net/images/theothers.jpg I KNEW there was something about that fat fro-head bearded guy! Joe Schmoe 10-06-2005, 03:13 AM Exxxxcelllent observation.. It did seem important when they flashed that couple jet3004 10-06-2005, 03:13 AM Yeah, the camera panned on them weirdly, I knew something was up. black.rabbit 10-06-2005, 03:13 AM the pic of the woman I'd buy- but the man is not close enough. the young scientist has dark hair and thick glasses- also, the boat pirate guy was very "low brow"- he sounded like he'd never seen the inside of a college classroom. Alexander 10-06-2005, 03:14 AM Let's see how you'd sound with 20+ years on an island and a boat. Yar. ilgandy 10-06-2005, 03:16 AM the pic of the woman I'd buy- but the man is not close enough. the young scientist has dark hair and thick glasses- also, the boat pirate guy was very "low brow"- he sounded like he'd never seen the inside of a college classroom. Maybe after years on the island he kinda became more savage? But to tell the truth I don't really think what he said in Exodus part 2 could be considered "blue collar" or "white collar". I'm concerned about who the man in the suit was that was standing in that building and it was in black and white. Nay815 10-06-2005, 03:18 AM Let's see how you'd sound with 20+ years on an island and a boat. Yar. HAHAHAHAHA! RaverDave 10-06-2005, 03:22 AM hmm, i like the idea better that they were adam and eve What if there both? what if there clones of the original science team who have gone 'rogue' and adam & eve and the remains of the real science team blondefilmgirl 10-06-2005, 03:25 AM The question is whats happened to them in the last 25 years to turn them into deliverance style pychos I agree with the poster who said that the term "sciencebillies" cracked them up. However, back to RaverDave's question. The orientation film said something about "an incident", but didn't elaborate further. ilgandy 10-06-2005, 03:31 AM The incident is just a ruse. I don't think anything happened, they probably just ran out of money and have no way to get back home. Nay815 10-06-2005, 03:34 AM "An incident" is a large corporation's PR wording for things went straight to hell and back! ilgandy 10-06-2005, 03:35 AM "An incident" is a large corporation's PR wording for things went straight to hell and back! haha, thats great. damn corporations. blondefilmgirl 10-06-2005, 03:39 AM The incident is just a ruse. I don't think anything happened, they probably just ran out of money and have no way to get back home. Good point. WAY too much to digest tonight! Naughty Paws 10-06-2005, 06:48 AM i watched the ep last nite and took notes. but the second go aorund, when i actually WATCHED it, i watched the orientation film in slo mo, and the whole time was looking for familiar faces. Ethan, Danielle maybe, etc those two are the only ones i recognized. i didnt see the twins around.... Cardielost 10-06-2005, 07:06 AM It's quite plausible that the original science team wigged out or that one of their experiments gave them the sickness. This seems to have been the case with Danielle's team as well. Dharma might go right ahead with the experiments, however. At some point, though, Dharma stopped sending replacements (although apparently not supplies). The question is whether Dharma is still manipulating events on the island or whether they were a front for the more sinister goals of Hanso, who is now working via other means to exploit whatever super-duper aspects the island offers. Cardie tygertyger 10-06-2005, 07:13 AM "An incident" is a large corporation's PR wording for things went straight to hell and back! As an employee of a very large corporation, I'd have to say you hit the nail right on the head! Colonel Sanders 10-06-2005, 07:30 AM I dont know if the Seabillie captain is the same bearded guy in the orientation film. The guy in the film looked to be of possible Middle Eastern descent, IMHO....the Captain even all aged out didn't look like the same guy..... RaverDave 10-06-2005, 07:41 AM i watched the ep last nite and took notes. but the second go aorund, when i actually WATCHED it, i watched the orientation film in slo mo, and the whole time was looking for familiar faces. Ethan, Danielle maybe, etc those two are the only ones i recognized. i didnt see the twins around.... I was just wondering, did anyone else think that the guy strapped to the chair looked a little bit like ethan? Naughty Paws 10-06-2005, 10:28 PM I was just wondering, did anyone else think that the guy strapped to the chair looked a little bit like ethan? i saw a guy in the class they walked through that i thought looked like ethan (not enough, though, to say so), but not sure about the guy strapped to a chair. Cassandra 10-07-2005, 03:33 PM Excellent catch. This is the kind of thing that keeps sucking me back in to this darn show. the pic of the woman I'd buy- but the man is not close enough. the young scientist has dark hair and thick glasses- also, the boat pirate guy was very "low brow"- he sounded like he'd never seen the inside of a college classroom. You can't tell by someone's accent whether they're educated or not. The deGroots were obviously early '70s hippie types so they wouldn't have been into high-falutin' diction in any case. As for the glasses--maybe he got laser surgery before being stranded on the island. :) tiotony 10-07-2005, 04:10 PM the bearded man on the boat is M. C. Gainey http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0301370/ if you look at his TV credits, Lost is listed him as the "bearded man" I don't think he is the same person in the "Orientation film". jet3004 10-08-2005, 12:12 AM Gosh, it's a tough call. They both look like they could indeed be the pair on the boat, especially the woman. Can't wait to see how this unfolds. Michelle Friday 10-08-2005, 12:35 AM If it is, that would be crazy cool! and fit with the insane scientists in horror films! Maybe they went berserk on the Island, and now they are the seabillie scientists wanting to use Walt for their research. lost_gypsy 10-08-2005, 12:50 AM I don't think the seabillie and the scientist are the same because the seabillie did not wear glasses and the scientist did...and I don't think the seabillie would wear contacts. Michelle Friday 10-08-2005, 12:54 AM Maybe the glasses are just for reading & up close use??? BobbyT882 10-08-2005, 01:21 AM I love this theory...it's so obvious too. I think that they are still researchers and overviewing the project, and that they are indeed the original researchers of the project, which is still in effect. Maybe they even dressed up differently to decieve the survivors at first to give them false hope. The woman is spot on...the guy is a little different but that could easily be because of age. I like it. Nay815 10-08-2005, 02:57 AM Maybe the glasses are just for reading & up close use??? Hey, Locke can walk now. Who needs glasses. Cardielost 10-08-2005, 08:12 AM Also, he'd need a new prescription after 25 years. If they're stuck on the island, there may not be an opthalmologiest and new lens/frame supply around. Also, as you get older, far vision improves and near-sighted people don't need glasses except for reading. The glasses are hardly the deal breaker for this theory. There are countless logical explanations for their absence on the seabilly. Cardie KralltheConqueror 10-08-2005, 08:40 AM I don't think the seabillie and the scientist are the same because the seabillie did not wear glasses and the scientist did...and I don't think the seabillie would wear contacts. Hey these guys are suppose to be scientist's maybe one of there early experiments was laser eye surgery elfdream 10-08-2005, 10:41 AM The glasses the scientist wore may have just been reading glasses. I need glasses to read but not for anything else. |
