That's the name Locke uses for his phone sex girl, right?

That's what I was thinking.

Yes she called the phone sex girl Helen. I don't think that this Helen was the phone sex girl though... just one of those fantasy things. You know, like "Can I call you Helen" kind of thing. Just my guess though.

Certainly no expert on 1-900 numbers but I would think you could use any name you wanted when talking to them.
The Helen in Walkabout was def a phone sex person. Said as much.
This was not that Helen.

I have a feeling he had a falling out with this Helen and as a result called a 1-900 number to chat with a Helen. Probably so he can get that same conversation and friendship again. (Although we know it was more than friendship here!)

I'm betting that Helen, and Sarah, are dead.

Possible. I have been going back and forth on Jack/Sarah divorce or Sarah dead.

Note that Desmond said he wrecked his boat off shore 3 years ago. ( I was right Danger about that boat wreck on Danielle's map) so I am still leaning to he and Jack met 4 years ago. Everything seems to be 4 years ago. Since Jack married Sarah a little over two years after he operated on her, whatever happened between them, their marriage didn't last long.

I agree! Oh man.. this just popped into my head, but do you think that maybe there was a car accident which made Locke lose the use of his legs and killed Helen? Or.. some sort of accident that happened when they were together.

Maybe someone who has the dvd can go back to the episode where Locke is talking to Helen on the phone and see if the voices sound alike. hmm.

What did the lady on the phone say to make you think it was a phone sex line? I really don't remember what she said. I know she said something along the lines of " But after these 10 minutes are up, you'll be paying $3.99 a minute." It could be that Locke was just calling the real Helen long distance? I dunno . :P

she also said something about not daiting clients. And the helen from this episode obviously is dating, since they are sleeping with each other. So they are probably not the same person.

Ahhh, you are correct. :)

Locke/Helen in Walkabout.
Flashback. Locke is in his bed in a studio apartment talking on the phone.]

Locke: I have never felt so alive. Getting to finally tell Randy off was. . . life changing. I mean it, now I'm free to do all those things I ever wanted to do. Things that I know I was destined to do, like we talked about Helen.

Helen: That's wonderful John. I'm happy for you, really.

Locke: I haven't even told you the best part. [He reaches over and turns a machine off by his bed] You remember the authentic aboriginal Walkabout?

Helen: Sure. That's all you've talked about for weeks.

Locke:Yeah, well, I'm going to do it. I'm flying to Australia at the end of the week. And I've, uh. I bought two tickets. Helen?

Helen: John, we've talked about this. I like you and I've enjoyed talking with you these past few months.

Locke: 8 months.

Helen: I'm not allowed to meet customers.

Locke: Customer? Is that what I am to you?

Helen:This isn't really normal. I mean, it isn't what I do. I don't know, maybe you should find a. . . I don't know. . . a therapist?

Locke: I have a therapist.

Helen: John.

Locke: I thought you understood Helen. You know me better than anyone.

Helen: John, if we talk any longer, I'm going to have to charge you for another hour. That's another 89.95 and . . .

Locke: Look, I don't care about the money. I just. . .

Helen: I'm sorry John, I've got to go.
(we hear the click of a hang up)

Locke: Helen, Helen. (Yelling) Helen.
[Locke slams the phone down several times.

I don't think the person on the phone was the real Helen. But paying someone to act out Helen means he was not over the loss of Helen... The question is, where did Helen go?

I think she left him because he couldn't let go of his obsession with his father. I think if she had died then he wouldn't have been calling the phone sex person her name, that would have been too painful. He was calling her name because he missed her but she wouldn't be with him.

Or maybe she left him because dealing with him in a wheelchair was just too much for her.

OOOH! Good one! I bet he totalled that cherry red VW he drives with Helen in it and he feels horribly, horribly guilty. Hence, naming the phone sex lady "Helen", and accidently calling Kate "Helen" once too.

Exactly what I thought also. Somehow I think it relates to his bleepbleep father also. Somehow Locke lost Helen and Jack lost Sarah.. wow.. i'm like so full of questions right now lol - and each answer we have makes even more questions - which is what makes this so great..

Maybe I am going out on a limb here but we don't know what Helen did for a living. Maybe this was her job all along. When, for what ever reason she broke up with John, this was the only way for him to keep in touch with her. If Helen was "done" with John and changed her regular phone number, moved, whatever, she probably wouldn't discourage John from calling her on the "phone sex" line because it was her livelyhood. However, when he got too "weird" even for that she tried to cut it off. (The voices don't seem the same to me but in my opinion its because we heard it over the phone line or the part wasn't cast with Katie yet.)

The woman on the phone is certainly not the same Helen in John's life...My theory is that Locke will have his accident and the "real" Helen will not know what happened to him, thus thinking he has decided he doesn't want to be with her. Locke will probably have decided that he is willing to give up stalking his dad for her and set off to be with her "completely" when the accident occurs. After an extended time of not hearing from him, Helen will have moved or changed her number, etc...I'm convinced also that Locke's dad, or his cronies, will play a role in his disability.

I'm convinced also that Locke's dad, or his cronies, will play a role in his disability. That's what I'm thinking, too. Some baseball bat action to the lower back could do some real damage.

I mentioned that Helen was also the name of the phone sex girl in Walkabout on the Chalkboard thread. In walkabout it is definitely a phone sex girl becuase she was going to have to charge him $79.95 if he stayed on the phone longer. My theory is that Locke and the Katey Segal Helen were in some sort of accident and she died and that is how he ended up in a wheelchair and now he calls a phone sex girl becuase he can't get past losing the real Helen. Especially because it seems Helen is the one who helps him get over what his biological father did to him.

Thats exactly what I think! We were intentionally misled and there are two Helens.
