View Full Version : The girl who takes Sawyer's gun
Alexander 10-06-2005, 01:40 AM Wasn't that the girl who talked to Jack in the airport? Am I crazy?
Also, perhaps she crashed the plane intentionally?
I gotta lay off the cough syrup. :-)
LostPack 10-06-2005, 01:42 AM Yes.
Probably not.
Yes.
Nay815 10-06-2005, 01:42 AM Yes, that was Ana Lucia.
Didn't like her in the airport scene, said she would be the character to hate this season (for me at least) and now seems the character to hate for everyone.
Quiksilver13oi 10-06-2005, 01:43 AM YAY!! no more Shannon hating!! now its all Ana-Lucia hating!!
Alexander 10-06-2005, 01:45 AM But, how did she get on the side of the Others?
I'm puzzled.

I think we're supposed to be. ;) And I have no idea.
fugitivekate 10-06-2005, 01:48 AM But, how did she get on the side of the Others?
I'm puzzled.
It could be a simple case of that she has been with The Others since the plane crashed, and now she's a part of them... had she been with the front of the plane, she could probably just as easily been with Jack, Locke, Shannon, Sayid, and the rest of them.
There's no reason to think that she had anything to do with the actual plane crash itself, or anything going on on the island...
My guess would be that she just fell in with The Others since they were the ones who she found after the crash?
But like I said... it's just a guess.
Nay815 10-06-2005, 01:51 AM YAY!! no more Shannon hating!! now its all Ana-Lucia hating!!
Hehe. I never did hate Shannon.
Shannon was the only one not hiding anything. What you saw is what you got....not always pretty, very often shallow but certainly no hypocrite.
Side note: She was also the only one that found her luggage. Always wondered if there was a symbolic message in that that Shannon carried her personal baggage out in the open unlike the others trying to hide their past heartaches and mistakes.

I don't those are the others. I think that's a different group.

Interesting theory...
toocoolforschool 10-06-2005, 01:55 AM those are definitely not the others. they are all a smaller more militant group of survivalists from the tail section of the plan. they probably live by a more brutal set of survival rules than the survivors of the front of the plane. the "others" are something completely different...
eviltwin77 10-06-2005, 01:56 AM I agree, I read that the other survivors didn't have it as easy as Jack's group and had the whole "Lord of the Flies" thing going on. This is not the others, but survivors from the rear of the plane.

I wonder if the big guy is Rose's husband.
Alexander 10-06-2005, 02:00 AM I seriously doubt that.
That guy, who will from here on out be refered to as 'Shaft,' was much bigger and younger than anyone (practically) who'd be married to Rose.
flora 10-06-2005, 02:01 AM I don't those are the others. I think that's a different group.
I think there are different factions of Others.
But yeah...I think these "others" are not The Others with the capital "O". Afterall, African Drug Running Beechcraft was there, starring as "Shaft", at least in Sawyer's world of nicknames.
I particularly liked it when he called Ana-Lucia "Cupcake".
Did anyone else guess that he was putting on the charm on her (which worked with, oh, say, Kate, and every woman he ever conned) but she was totally not responding AT ALL. Not like the flirt we saw in the airport. But hey, she was working afterall...get some tequilia tonics in her and she's a different woman. :)
Though...as much as I want to think that Ana-Lucia will be an ally, would it be weird that we saw the Hawaiian Shirt Man threatening Jin in the Sydney airport and also Ana-Lucia trying to make a connection with Jack? Is there supposed to be some ominous parallel between these not-so-chance meetings?
easydoesit 10-06-2005, 02:02 AM Michelle Rodriguez (Ana Lucia) betraying them like that threw me off. But then again, the big black dude could have easily interrogated them from a safe distance while they are down in the pit. They don't even need to be looking at each other (for fear of being shot, attacked, whatever).
I don't think the big black dude is Rose's husband. Rose looks like his mom or something.
flora 10-06-2005, 02:05 AM I wonder if the big guy is Rose's husband.
Nah...he's totally from the Beechcraft. African accent and all. Besides, I don't think Rose's "Bernard" would make a good "Shaft".
Psyweb 10-06-2005, 02:05 AM I agree, I read that the other survivors didn't have it as easy as Jack's group and had the whole "Lord of the Flies" thing going on. This is not the others, but survivors from the rear of the plane.
I wonder if the two groups will become rivals, also similar to "Lord of the Flies"--and "Watership Down" too-- Or if they will merge
jet3004 10-06-2005, 02:08 AM They aren't THE OTHERS...They are the tail section of the plane!
Why do people keep insisting they are the others...? The OTHERS were confirmed as being the people at sea who took Walt...Now sure, there could be more of them but judging by the way Walt's kidnappers looked, the people who dragged Sawyer, Mike, and Jin are NOT those Others.

I don't think anyone in this thread anyway is really saying that. No, they aren't The Others. They're just others. No capitalization. Ana-Lucia was in the back of the plane. We know that. "Shaft" speaks with a heavy African accent (H-E-L-L-O). For all we know all these people are other people who have wound up on this island in one way or another (plane crashes, boat crashes) and have banded together against The Others and for that reason are understandably suspicious of strangers.
ilgandy 10-06-2005, 02:13 AM They are totally the people from the tail section of the plane. They took the savage road instead of the civilized road. Their strongest leader wanted to lead by means of violence and agression while our survivors had Jack who wanted to lead by reason and cooperation. Its just like Lord of the Flies. I wouldn't be surprised if the leader of the tail section group was named Ralph.
jet3004 10-06-2005, 02:16 AM And was it just me who totally saw what was going on with Ana Lucia the whole time. I knew that she was with them and was just planted down there to get answers. I mean, at the very end of "Adrift" we saw her looking like a flesh eating zombie with the rest of them. Were the perceptive ones not supposed to remember that she was with them?

I totally caught that, but he also seemed genuinely happy to meet her too, but his skills kicked in automatically. Gotta love Sawyer. Ana seems like a cop, she has skills. The move to get Sawyers gun wasn't anything special, but she slugged him good, like she'd done it before and new what she was doing. She handled the gun like a pro and got pulled out of the pit like a pro. Cop, firewoman, military???

Her business cards read:
Ana-Lucia, General Badassssss, Craphole Island, Pacific Ocean.
Amber 10-06-2005, 02:49 AM Ana Lucia's the best! you know she won't be putting up with any crap (especially from Sawyer) what was he thinking calling her cupcake? hahaha
kanahina 10-06-2005, 04:03 AM I wonder if the big guy is Rose's husband.
No, according to IMDB.com, Rose and her husband (Bernard) will be in the next episode, "Everybody Hates Hugo" Bernard is played by Sam Anderson, whereas "Shaft" is played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
I LOVE this show!!!
