Did anyone think that Sawyer's naming his captor "Shaft" was an inside reference to the rumors last spring that Samuel L. Jackson was going to be on "Lost"? It made me smile, anyway.

No... I think he said it 'cause the black dude is a "big bad mutha - shut your mouth - i'm talkin' 'bout shaft'" kind of guy. You don't mess with Shaft... you don't mess with big dude with a stick.

Nope for me too. I think it was just another one of Sawyer's clever nicknames like freckles, sticks or Abdul.

I have to agree with rvarzea on this one. Thats what I thought. A 'tough' guy like Sawyer would be familiar with a figure like shaft and wouldn't hesitate to pull out a term like that to describe the big black dude.

Maybe Sawyer was making a reference to the hatch 'shaft', like when he mentioned hot chocolate and was talking about the chocolate in the bunker  hahahahaha. Sawyer knows a lot about the hatch and the bunker.

I thought it was funny not only because I like Blacksploitation films but because Sawyer chose to nickname the African guy "Shaft". Made me smile thinking of "Shaft in Africa". There I go digressing...

Anyone notice that it's Adebisi from the HBO series, "Oz"? I think that's awesome.

I loved how "Adebisi" kicked their ***** in like 3 seconds! I hope he's on their side eventually.

Yeah, I saw that. Wonder if he will recognize Michael outside of his wheelchair. :D

Am I the only one that gets the bassline stuck in my head everytime I see the title of this thread?

Can ya dig it?

It's been awhile since we've had any new characters for Sawyer to nickname.
