There has been speculation that the magnet somehow brought down the plane and other theories. I don't know if a magnet would be able to have that much of an effect on a plane, however this is LOST and it does seem that anything is possible. But it seems that all things...boats, rafts, planes all seem to crash into the island.

The island seems to have a Bermuda Triangle like quality to it. Maybe its not a security system or a magnet or anything like that but just a Bermuda Trianlge like mystery thing that you really can't explain. I like in Ohio, near Cleveland, and I had a high school professor that lectured on a "Great Lakes Trianlge". So its possbile the writers did something like that.

Doesn't explain anything else like the Hanso Foundation or Dharma. But maybe that paired with the magnatism of the island is why they chose that location. They would frequently get new test subjects?

You need to read the posts on the vile vortices, Monatauk/Philadelphia experients, Tesla, etc. The electromagnetism clues, in my opinion, are huge. You're not crazy.
