Lea_Lost 09-13-2007, 01:27 PM Printed out and ready to read!
I just read your short fic, it is great! I actually felt the cold you described at the beginning... So, you reckon Naomi didn't know she was lying? Interesting theory :39:
Ah, and we wrote about quite the same Sawyer, didn't we? I almost fell off my chair that he used the same nickname on Des :21:
pacejunkie 09-13-2007, 04:13 PM But the new Des fic is up! I can't believe I actually did a one-shot fic. :dizzy: Here it is: Death by Water (http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-5v9pZLY9dLVZck6w8n6qGtATtcYjh.YU2sg-?cq=1&p=194). Rated G
Wow, Jane that was really good. Sad, but good. I was able to follow it fine. He had a happy dream that Charlie survived only for reality to hit him when he woke up. I'm afraid the rest of this series is going to be ike a bad dream. Nice Desmond angst you wrote there. I liked how you wrote Charlie and the gag about hitting him with the oar too hard!
honeypoppy0212 09-13-2007, 04:56 PM Gosh, I am so behind, I can't believe it! You guys are soooo productive, I can't read as fast as you write LOL I was planning to spend my weekend reading, but fate wanted differently as it sent some guests to me
Anyway, you guys probably have long forgotten that I started this fanfic named The Second Time Around. Here is Chapter 2 (http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-bDMl_Mo8RLLXYsJWaRFK) freshly out of the oven, rated PG. I don't plan it too long, but I honestly don't know how many more chapters will I have.
Great new chapter Lea! I loved the little touches of humor. Can't wait for the next one!
Lea_Lost 09-13-2007, 05:04 PM Great new chapter Lea! I loved the little touches of humor. Can't wait for the next one!
LOL, I still haven't decided if it is a comedy or a tragedy... a bit of both I suppose. Glad you liked it

Ah, and we wrote about quite the same Sawyer, didn't we? I almost fell off my chair that he used the same nickname on Des :21:I heard that theory about Naomi and while I personally don't buy it, I figured I'd use it. It was a nice way to introduce "Blue Eyes." ;)
Well ... actually, Sawyer used that way back in my first fic when Des thumped him over picking on Jade in the waterfall pool. (Chapter 5, Stranger on the Shore (http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-5v9pZLY9dLVZck6w8n6qGtATtcYjh.YU2sg-?cq=1&p=68)) :)

I liked how you wrote Charlie and the gag about hitting him with the oar too hard!Thank you, pace! Wow, you write Charlie so well that that's really quite a compliment. I love trying to convey how Dom would give Charlie that frown that was a mix of deep thought and utter lack of understanding whatever it was he was trying to grasp. I am SO going to miss Charlie!! I just can't say it ... it's just this big empty feeling in my chest and a feeling of tears welling up behind my eyes. OK, enough. I am going to cry. Very happy you liked it and the oar reference. I giggled on that one myself. ;)

Aye, very true now you mention it. But since then I followed 95 + 19 of your chapters so forgive me if my memory is a bit rusty

Save The Humans 09-13-2007, 09:22 PM Loving it, Lea! I like how Des isn't sure how to go about changing things--and also, when he does change things (like making sure Sun doesn't go on the boat), if that's good or bad. Can't wait to see how his actions alter things. Though I'm pretty sure that, in the end, he will end up saving Charlie! :smile1:

I remember! I've been waiting for CH2. I really hope there are more chapters to come (soon!) because this is a really interesting story. I like how Desmond is becoming the doom-merchant prophet for ALL the Losties not just Charlie by telling them about the pitfalls they are about to take. I also love how Des is desperate to talk to Charlie, but not wanting to burst his happy bubble when he sees him writing his music.
Great story! Did you get around to reading my time-travel fic BTW?

Thanks Jane. I don't usually do that, but I was going insane after hours and hours... I felt like doing something productive for a change. :21:
We  you, Lea!
Shucks, I'm speechless.
 you back!

Good chapter Lea! I was :roflmao: at Desmond saying he was glad Locke wasn't naked. LOL I can't wait to see what happened to Locke and where Eko is.

Brilliant Lea!
“Oh, he is not naked, thank God for that” Desmond murmured, while Charlie raised an eyebrow looking at him.
“You know you are really odd sometimes” he said.
Lol! Excellent Chesmond banter in this chapter. I'm really curious to see what happens next. Will Desmond not be having the flashes this time around? Will Locke have the flashes instead?! Will it still be Charlie who dies in the flashes or...or somebody else?! There are so many interesting possibilities.
BTW you should post this story to the Charlie art/fic (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=81166) thread too!

Hey if any of you Dessy fanficcers want to get involved you can sign up for a prompt here at Lost Horror Stories (http://zelda-zee.livejournal.com/169094.html). JB, Lea, girlX...you're on LJ, right? There are other Poe prompts availible. I'm doing 'The Wicker Man'. If you've not seen the film (the 1973 original that is) it's about a weird Scottish island where they practise human sacrifice.
Good opportunity for a Chesmond horror story I thought!
<Fic challenge? Me?> I thought, but what do you know? I discovered IT hasn't been taken yet and I couldn't pass the opportunity
New little one-shot from me. It's seriously angsty and depressing, but it's set post-Charlie death so what do you expect. I wrote it yesterday following my Dickens theory.
The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come (http://falafel-fiction.livejournal.com/10101.html)
Summary: One-shot. Charlie's death casts a shadow over the Lostees first Christmas on the island.
Rating: PG
OMG Cappy, you just blew me away twice in a row. Read this one-shot and then your Time Travel fic, and I cried on both, but for different reasons.
The Christmas story was so heart-wrenching, not dark or anything only very-very sad... just as I expect Lost will be when it returns... :frown: It was so realistic..
The other one... it was a delight! First I thought that Des is going to visit all of Charlie's best moments, but this was much better even! The ultimate Chesmond adventure-comedy, I adored their relationship all through it!
My very fav part:
“I’m stuck on an island in the middle of bloody nowhere with a crazy naked Scotsman who’s trying to get me killed!” he lamented to the world in general. “Why does this stuff always happen to me?!”
:24: It was just priceless!
Ah, and you even got Claire back for Charlie...
Save The Humans 09-18-2007, 09:24 PM Don't you DARE keep us waiting long for Chapter 4, Lea! :reading:

Thanks Lea! It would have been interesting for Des to travel through time and visit all Charlies Greatest Hits...imagine if Des woke up to find himself in bed with Charlie and two hot blondes on the tour of Finland  That would've been fun! But yeah, I wanted it to be a comic buddy adventure - like the odd couple only with time travel.
So glad you and JB have signed up for the horror stories!
pacejunkie 09-19-2007, 08:09 AM *headdesk* Lea_Lost, what is wrong with me that I haven't read your stories? I don't know how they got past me but I'm making up for it now. I just read The Message and it felt so much like canon it was astounding. I can see it going exactly that way. I'm going to read the others as well. Love your Chesmond!
ETA: Also loved Claire's reaction in A Little Help From My Friends. The scene where she accuses Desmond after finding the ring made me cry. I would love to see Claire freak out on the show, but the writers neglect her so badly we probably will get very little. Thanks for writing it.

She has improved so much since her first fic (which was fantastic, btw) that I just keep smiling with each new one she gives us. This latest one, I think, is show-worthy. What a fantastic idea she has there and not only that but she makes it work!
And by-the-by .... LOVE THAT NEW AVI! That is the funniest, yet sadly true, one I've seen so far! jellyfrog rocks!! :punk:

jbdean 09-20-2007, 01:17 PM Well, I've started a new Des fan-fic but only chapter one is up and I honestly have no idea how long this one will go. But with 4 months left until the show starts again ... it could be another 50 chapter one. LOL But I don't think it will.
Communication Gap, Rated G, chp 1 is up.

Still loving this Lea! I hope you don't mind, but I've recced this story on the 'Charlie Fic/Art' thread. Theres some excellent Charlie snark in this chapter. I like that even through the sarcasm is still very curious about Desmond. Yay for Eko lives!!
I'm into your fic too, JB. The Penny POV is brilliant.

Interesting about the abbey having a Numbers coordinate, though.
And how, pray tell, did Penny meet Mrs. Hawking? And why would she send Penny to the abbey? Was it Penny's destiny to find out the truth?
Too many questions! Not enough answers! Next chapter, please! :45: :reading:

EKO'S ALIVE! YAY! :74happy:
So far, this is a pretty happy story, girl! Keep up the good work! :reading:
Yep, it surprised me too how happy this one turns out to be. I didn't have a clue when I began; you know, I could very well tell the same story and you believe it tragic :21: But it feels right so far.
About Locke... I'd very much love to tell more about his experience but I honestly don't know how to fit it in without wandering waaay too far from the main story-line. This is a Chesmond fic first and foremost.
So I'm sharing my theory here.
A sacrifice so great as going down there - in a symbolic hell-hole and turning the key, willing to lay down your life for others to live must have a compensation. A karmical payment if you like. So the island, the universe, or whatever you like gave Desmond what he wanted the most: a fresh start with Penny, back when such trifles as conviction, hatches, button and island didn't exist. Locke on the other hand would never want to go back in time... whatever for? He wants to know, he wants to be important, and have important things to do. So he got an early encounter with Jacob. And what seemed like a joke in real life, seemed a mystical experience when you just died... or expected to anyway ;)
(Was it really me that coaxed you into writing? Gee, I feel really proud!)
Yes, it was you. I wrote some short thing - more to myself - as tribute to Desmond's return in S3. And you kept saying "write another, write another"... it would have never occurred to me that I can write otherwise... I'm not joking.
Still loving this Lea! I hope you don't mind, but I've recced this story on the 'Charlie Fic/Art' thread. Theres some excellent Charlie snark in this chapter. I like that even through the sarcasm is still very curious about Desmond. Yay for Eko lives!!
Mind?! I thank you for it  I'm not too good in advertising...
And curious as it may be on my Desmond, I have to stand up for his sarcasm. Desmond is not a humorless fellow, we just can't see that side of his on the show because of the horrific situations he is getting himself into most of times. But we've got a glimpse of what he was before becoming a doom-merchant in Catch 22. Remember flirty, funny Desmond? Didn't that feel odd? I don't allow him to externalise it either, the poor thing, he is only sarcastic to himself
Chp 3 is up. Rated G

Just caught up and read 4 and 5. Okay, favourite part:
“I don’t know how I got here. But I was...” he halted shaking his head at an obvious loss of words.
“You were what?” asked Charlie urgently. “Jungle King? Whale hunter? The king of the bongo?”
Locke grinned widely.
“No. I saw the Island’s Spirit” he said slowly, getting serious. “I know now” he added with emphasis.
“How very wonderful for you”
:lol1: You really capture Charlie's adorable snarkiness!
Captain_Falafel 09-22-2007, 07:09 PM Love the new chappie, Lea! I'm looking forward to the Des/Charlie/Hurley drinking night take two (watch your temper Dessy! No strangling...) Hope this story doesn't finish too soon!!
Save The Humans 09-22-2007, 10:52 PM I only write on the train so, hopefully, chap 4 will up early next week.
NEXT WEEK?! NOOOOOOOO! :crybaby:
Good chapter, Lea! Love how there always seems to be complications (Sun & Aaron in Claire's shelter; Desmond oversleeps and Claire nearly drowns).
Can't wait to see Charlie become a "believer"!! :reading:

We'll see about the drinking... couldn't possibly leave that one out, could I? But as you may have noticed, nothing happens exactly as it did last time...
Doesn't finish soon? You're joking! I wish I could finish it sooner, I really can't do two things at once. But this one is getting out of control LOL I have the outlines written out and... I still have a few things to tell. Yikes!

Thanks Hon, but it's really not false modesty of my part, it's pure complaint sistah. Did you know that you are only allowed to make literary translation into your own language, never the other way around? There is a reason for that. No matter how well you speak a foreign language, you'll never own it like you own your mother tongue. All the shades that are lost in translation are very frustrating sometimes.
I love how little stuff has changed, but it impacts things in a big way. Can't wait for the next one!
Have I told you that I love you lately? You just summarized my fic in one simple sentence! Way to go! :coolgleamA:

Pretty ironic the way your paralleling these stories. Penny learns Desmond is destined to be a hero, but meanwhile Desmond is feeling extremely unheroic. It was very sad to see Hurley lose all his humour...but thats the breaks, isn't it?

Woot! I've just been reading JBs new chappie and then yours pops up. Best instalment so far! I like that both Desmond and Charlie were pretending to be drunk this time and you see a battle of wills going on. I love that Des is trying to spare Charlie from knowledge of the flashes (though I think Charlie still wants to know). And Charlie trying and failing to pick up Hurley was a hilarious image!

Oh, but there was a reason. First time around Charlie knew he was going to die. But he didn't want to! So Hurley and himslef willed that van into going - and eventually into escaping. Now it was all just an adventure, and Hurley alone couldn't make it happen.

Captain_Falafel 10-02-2007, 04:43 AM Just caught up on your latest chapters, Lea!!
GAH! First off, I had to giggle at the image of a road wrecked and bloodied Hurley/Charlie returning to camp followed by a guilty looking Sawyer and Jin. All these changes sure are keeping Desmond on his toes!
Loved your description of Charlies more bratty qualities - his bold-faced lying and his snappyness. Spot on I have to say. That image of Charlie drowning in his tent was shocking and powerful (I was wondering how you'd explain his earlier vanishing!) And how much do I love Desmond wrapping Charlie up in blankets and watching over him. You are taking me to Chesmond heaven with this fic!
I'm half-excited/half terrified about them returning to the Looking Glass. I don't think I could hack Charlies drowning a "second time around" (*shakes Charlie also* Stop dying, damn you!!)
pacejunkie 10-02-2007, 08:12 AM I loved the new chapter. Charlie is so brave wanting to take the information they know and go back to the Looking Glass and try again. They are both so in character. Desmond's afraid to risk it and Charlie points out that if they prevent Naomi's people from coming, no one else can rescue them either. This is a great conundrum now that Naomi has turned up anyway. They thought they had it under control, now fate is pushing them back there again.
I also like Charlie's explanation for shutting the door, figuring if he was doomed anyway he might as well save Desmond. I like to think that his last thoughts were of saving Desmond and that he was at peace because he believed he secured a way for everyone to contact the outside world, even if it wasn't Penny's boat.

Oh, I agree. The universe/flashes forced Charlie to grow up. He finally became the good responsible family man he always wanted to be. Problem is it all seems rather futile now Claire/Aaron have lost him forever. They may get rescued because of Charlie but they no longer have this husband/father figure to care for them throughout their lives.

This was an awesome chapter, Lea! I loved the Chesmond banter. Both the funny parts where Desmond is having trouble getting Charlie to sit still and the emotional parts where they reflect on both having to leave the girls they love and not telling them why.
And the twists/changes were great - using the Elizabeth to get to the Looking Glass, Chesmond capturing the girls (brilliant Bonnie/Charlie snarking!) and Widmore showing up on the screen. I'm dreading the next chapter, but I still can't wait...

And poor Claire... what waits her when she arrives :crybaby:
So Brotha Campbell is Penny's new help. I can't wait to see what you make of all this.
Captain_Falafel 10-07-2007, 09:50 AM Your fic makes me very sad, JB. Desmond is in an awful situation. We know he is not to blame, but I can totally understand Hurley's feelings. He is close to both Charlie and Des, but he's known Charlie much longer and that's where his loyalties lie. I'm dreading Claire's reaction. I get the impression she's already worked it out.
I think the part that made me the saddest was Desmond saying that there is no time for grieving over Charlies death - they have to focus on his last message and take action. That cuts me deep, cos I'm sure it will be the same situation on the show. Not even a moment of pause for Charlie's loss. The action will take over.
Save The Humans 10-08-2007, 12:09 AM But Cappy, you have to admit, the situation DOESN'T give time for them to stop and mourn Charlie. Charlie wouldn't WANT them stopping to mourn him right now. Once out of danger, they can take the time to remember him.
Of course, given it's TPTB who have to remember to remember Charlie, I do understand your apprehension. But I'm sure JANE will remember Charlie in HER writing! That's the beauty of fanfic--you can do the things TPTB fail to do!

I don't really know if Charlie wouldn't want people to stop and mourn him. Sadly I just don't think Charlie expected his death would really trouble anyone. But the thing about grief is it isn't an emotion you can put on hold. So if nobody gets around to mourning Charlie until 'more important bussiness' is taken care of it will feel less sincere.
I think Desmond's reaction is very in character though. He is just frantic right now, trying to do justice to Charlies sacrifice and more concerned for Claire and Hurley's loss. What I would really like to see is Desmonds own grief suddenly overtaking him. He's lost his closest friend on the island and is back to being the mistrusted outsider. He's trying to hold it together, but I could imagine him suddenly breaking down and really letting himself experience his own guilt and loss.
Save The Humans 10-08-2007, 06:21 AM Perhaps. Maybe once everyone reaches a "safe" place, where the Boaties can't find them right away. They all are going to have to stop and catch their breaths before their thoughts--and grief--can catch up with them.
Let's see how Jane handles it. Jane? :reading:
honeypoppy0212 10-08-2007, 10:48 AM Man this week has be hectic! Between my "day job" and a CD jacket I'm designing for a local band ... I haven't had time to breathe! But I managed to get chp 8 up. Rated G

Another great one Jane! I love the easy flow between Brother Campbell and Penny. I'm glad they listened to Desmond all the way through. Hopefully he has convinced them. I agree with Cappy, I am sooo dreading Claire's reaction. That's going to be so painful.
Lea_Lost 10-12-2007, 11:41 AM So. After a great deal of trials and tribulations, The Second Time Around (http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-bDMl_Mo8RLLXYsJWaRFK?list=1) is DONE! The Finale came out a bit long, so I put it up in two pieces, at least it is in good Lost tradition  They are rated PG as always.
Thank you so much everybody who stayed with me and was patient enough to read it.

I've also put Death By Water on hold for a bit as I'm finishing a "Halloween" fic (Des-centric, of course) and that has to be done before the 31st. I'll post a link here when it's done. I hope to finish it this weekend.

I can't wait for your Halloween fic... it's based on the Picture of Dorian Grey right? I haven't even started my dark fic yet :17:

Woot! Well done for getting to the end. Thanks for not letting Charlie die this time around (saved by his own sense of humour?! I love it!) Bonnie was seriously cool in pt1. So cool how she had her revenge! I loved how you did the Despenny reunion with Penny giving Des a telling off before the uncontrollable kissing. I was saddened by Hurley wanting to stay because he was worried he'd curse the rescue (poor guy!). But all in all this was a great resolve to a very imaginitive fic.
I've finished my 'Wicker Man' horror story. You'll have to wait for Halloween to see it, but I have to warn you that Desmond is a little bit crraaaazy in it.

Thanks. You know, I often wonder why on earth they all want to get off the island so badly (ok, besides the fact that the others are gonna eat them all LOL), when there is not many things to go home to... Even Hurley, with his fortune and his loving mother, he found his place on the island when out there he never could... I thought about making Jack stay too, but in all honesty it wasn't realistic: he is too stubborn to admit that he has nothing waiting for him back home.

Happy Halloween, Dessies! Your man seems to feature heavily in many of the Lost Horror Stories (especially with the Poe prompts). Great fics Lea and jbdean (I hope you are feeling better!). While I'm here I wanted to rec a little Chesmond story written for me by toestastegood. The fics is only short but beautifully written and very haunting. I think you'll like it.
Time Creeps Closer (http://toestastegood.livejournal.com/261981.html#cutid1) (PG)
Summary: "When?" Charlie asks and the answer is – "Soon."
She also wrote me a Lost/Heroes crossover featuring Desmond.
Ships in the Night (http://toestastegood.livejournal.com/263821.html#cutid1) (PG)
Summary: Peter wasn't the only one to be given a warning.
Captain_Falafel 11-02-2007, 05:42 AM *sigh* I must regretfully announce this is my last fanfic. Tis only fitting that it is a Chesmond story.
Sharing the Night (http://falafel-fiction.livejournal.com/12132.html)
Synopsis: Desmond and Charlie are both restless with fear and despair. They decide to spend the night together. Set after the events of 'Par Avion'.
Rating: PG-13

I promise I won't be a stranger. I just feel like my fanfic cycle has drawn to a close. It's been great, but it's time to move on. I'm afraid Lost has become too much of a downer for me since they killed my favourite character (about five times...:149:)
I will still be popping into the Desmond forum. Dessy is my favourite living Lostee now and I'm counting on him to keep the Chesmond spirit alive. Plus I love your Des fics so I'll be stopping by to read them whenever I can. Lift it up, bruthas!

You know it's interesting. Even though Charlie is my favourite, I use Desmond POV far more often in my writing. I don't know if that is because I relate to Desmond more or I just like seeing Charlie through Desmonds eyes, but anyway - Desmonds got a great voice and perspective!

My own fan-fic is still writing. There are also two another fandoms, not only Lost. It's a variation about Des' escape from the Island - the action takes place on "Elizabeth".
For now it's still in Polish and I have no time to end it. And I'm really sad of that, cause this fic makes me happy.
jbdean 12-03-2007, 12:37 PM I know what you mean  But amazingly, the writing actually pulled me out of a major depression. I need it.Well I will try and do what you did. It might do the same for me. I hope it does.
Printed out your story and will read it at lunch time or on the way home on the train tonight.
Lea_Lost 12-03-2007, 01:51 PM Me too! The twins, yeah. That's why I love to create - everything is possible in our imagination.
I have this opened right now, Lea. Hope I will read it tonight :)

Yep, everything is possible in fic world, well said! That's what I love about it too. I hope that some time you will share with us some of your work ;)

I hope so too, Jane. We've lost Cappy's fics, that was a major loss. It would just be so very sad if you didn't write either... :crybaby:
At one point, I even thought I won't write again... And when I was at my lowest, an idea popped up. I followed it and when I began to write, I slipped into fic world and all was well again. It's no humbiug, while I was writing, I walked on clouds

 We all do! Wasn't she a passionate reader? Always pushing you to write quicker, more? It is sad to see that she is not there to comment... But you know what? I'm sure she still reads :)
Hinnie 12-03-2007, 02:51 PM It's no humbiug, while I was writing, I walked on clouds
That's what I feel too. I write a lot, since I was a child. My style was changing and now people ask me to check their writing and this is a great complement for me.
But I didn't expect writing fic about Des, with Des, could be so inspiring itself, could be so involving and developing almost without my control.
I started to read Family Reunion, I'm in the middle of Part I. I like how you write about Becky's thoughts on Desmond, other survivers, living on the Island and about that what's going to happen with them all now.
Think if I would be one of them I won't forget about the others so quickly. Maybe that's bacause I quickly and easy accustom to the new places, people and conditions. Often I feel really sad when something's ending, when I have to say goodbye to some people or places.
Suppose I wouldn't brake the promiss of keeping in touch, at least with some of those people from the Island. Return to my normal life could be not so easy...
And here you notice:
It was hard for us and I couldn’t even begin to imagine how Desmond felt, who missed out years not months from his life.
Oh, yes! :frown:
Sometimes I think he should stay on the Island. Look at him. In the Season 3 he became so responsible, even peaceful, calm. He lost this madness for which I love him in the Season 2. So - In Scotland/England he haven't got a job, he was sad and frustrated and thought he doesn't deserve Penny. He's simply satisfy himself now, he knows what to do.
But - why? Well, just because he's got an end to gain. After three years of pushing the button in the Hatch, he finds the letter from Pen and he knows he must back to her, cause she still loves him. His behaviour, his character transformation after failed escape from the Island have a cause in this aim: to get back to Pen.
Think this is more important then just feeling quite good in the Island nature and survivers society.
So here I should loose my theory.
To be honest after reascuing I see... canonic Des (cause Des in all the fics could be various as we know) only with Pen. Or at least coming back to her, cause I hardly believe this will end well. Happy end would be too... typical, too normal for Des.
They love each other too much to stay apart.
But of course I read your fic with a real pleasure :D

Oh, that's how it happens to me too. I often wondered how does it work actually... That the story wtites itself. Sometimes I don't even know where it's gonna end up, I think something, but it takes a quick turn and it's nothing like I expected LOL
To be honest after reascuing I see... canonic Des (cause Des in all the fics could be various as we know) only with Pen.
I can understand that you feel so strongly about Des and Penny. I just... don't :) I don't know what is it about her... or maybe it's just me. Healthy little jelousy :21: You see, Des and Becky go back a long time. I wrote about their relatiopnship for months, and I sort of... came to feel it. :blushing: That's why I probably will never be a whole-hearted Penny fan. On Lost world I wish them to be together... because simply I want Des to be happy. It's a different Universe.
But of course I read your fic with a real pleasure :D
Well, I'm glad to hear that
Hinnie 12-03-2007, 04:47 PM I can understand that you feel so strongly about Des and Penny. I just... don't :) I don't know what is it about her... or maybe it's just me. Well, as I wrote, I don't think it will end happily... Unluckily can't imagine Desmond and Penny living long in happy life. It's too normal for Des and I... yes, I don't want normal end of his story. Not because I don't want him happy. Ya know what I mean...?
But yes, I see him backing to her and her looking for him, cause waiting is too much irritating, frustrating for her. She believes he's alive. Somewhere...
Don't ya think she's similar to Becky in that looking for? And, oh, as for Becky...
Aaaaaaaaa!!! I just finished Part I. She is... me! She's like me, Lea, I understand her so easily!
I know how is it to feel so huge emotions, how is it to lurk the man you wants, to trace him... Someone could say it's almost sick, but I'm like this maybe cause of my detective abilities - I love to look for.
There's a lot of details adding a liveliness to the story. There's a speed of description of what is going on - in Becky and outside of her. I like that style of writing - you can read that fast and you miss nothing, cause the language is simple because of that speed of description.
Oh, didn't I entangle that...? It's a closed circle. And I mean speed of description not speed of events in the action of the story. The action could be slow but description of it fast. It's an Art.
So - to make description faster you use simple words which mean what they mean, without any metaphors. Simple words are read faster - and here is all the mystery.
Beautiful story. I haven't read the story of Des and Becky, but after reading the first part of Sequel I wanna back to the whole story.
Believe me, I easily understand what you mean when you say you came to feel it.
I used to write 600-pages stories and imagine how it could be involving. I still feel it, feel the mood of it.
This is what I love in writing: it's another world and you can enter it and come in and this is your world. Sometimes it's an escape.

:sadwave: Hey guys! I'm still around (barely). It's nice to see this thread active again. It was always one of my favourites. No new Des fics from me I'm afraid, but I do have some very good Dessy recs from my friend elliotsmelliot at LJ. One is a Des/Charlie fic (written for yours truly as you might have guessed!) and the other is a Des/Libby fic which is very original...

The Whims of the Wind (http://elliotsmelliot.livejournal.com/8117.html#cutid1) (G)
BTW - Lea! Congratz on your Lost fic award for 'The Pigs are Walking'! Well deserved.

ETA Nevermind, I found it  It's so cool!
I also found out that your Beware of the Fangirl won. I'm so happy, it was the most hilarious fic I've ever read! And also The Sacrifice the island Demanded... wow! Congrats back!

Ha ha, what you take for a writing style is simply my poor English :21: That's what the simplicity comes from, you know... I don't know what I'm doing, I just have fun.
Beautiful story. I haven't read the story of Des and Becky, but after reading the first part of Sequel I wanna back to the whole story.
It's all there in my yahoo blog, if you have the time and the nerves to go through it. It started as a short fic (my very first!), called The Crazy Thing to Do, I wrote is as a tribute to Desmond, returning as a regular in S3. Then they had some Dark Times, and things really got outta hand when I wrote New Ships, LOL. It's a bit long that one... I had great times through it though...
Hinnie 12-04-2007, 12:29 PM Poor English? My is poorer. So where are you from? If I'm not wrong there's a small difference between our time zones...
But oh well, if you have a fun with it that's great. I'm just a mod on our Polish literary forum, so I gave you such a comment. I feel quite easy in commenting someone's creation and think the creator wants to hear something more about it then just "it was nice", right? ;) At least I want.
And I also usually do not know what I'm doing, heh. Just see it in other creation.
Congrats to you, girls! For sure you deserved it, though I don't know the texts...

It was a Lost horror challenge, here (http://community.livejournal.com/lostsquee/346459.html) you can find the master list, if you are into dark stuff :devil2:
I'm a Hungarian, living in Romania. So English is my third language...
And you are absolutely right, we all are eager for reactions, feedback... your comment was a delight, sister

Thanks Lea (jb, honey and hinnie)! I can't believe I won for two humour fics. I've never really thought of myself as a funny writer, so it's a great confidence booster.
Speaking of funny...here's another Des rec that I just know you're gonna love.
How Desmond got his blue shirt (http://janie-tangerine.livejournal.com/67493.html) by janie tangerine (PG13)
Hinnie 12-04-2007, 12:56 PM You're living in Romania?! So we can meet one day, yhyhy! Oh, and you're the second Hungarian girl I know here - with Panarea.
Lost horror challenge sounds great. If only I have more time to read this... :frown: I have to read Family Reunion and hope I do that tonight. My Sis starts to work with me, so we're coming back to home at the same time and we both want to sit at the computer. Luckily my Dad plays chess earlier now.
your comment was a delight, sister
Cause reading your fic was a delight - real delight. Sister :D.

:24: Thanks for that, Cappy! I needed this today.
You're living in Romania?! So we can meet one day, yhyhy! Oh, and you're the second Hungarian girl I know here - with Panarea.
We are practically neighbors  Panarea is my ciber sister into Desmond. And Ian. And Theo. (I actually wrote Family Reunion for her)
Cause reading your fic was a delight - real delight. Sister :D.
Oh, shucks. :blushing:
Hinnie 12-05-2007, 01:03 PM After Part 2:
Great! My favourites:
“Come” and we ran along the shore hand in hand.
uuuu - could I be Becky...?
Also, very plastic vision. I can see that scene easily.
“Following me? You must be joking! You are the one with the gun.”
Beautiful!
And this one:
“If they already know we are here, do we really need to sit in the dark?”
Smart and easy. Those give the character to Becky.
“Believe me, Desmond is worth knowing”
Nothing but truth.
And the end of that Part... I wanna be Becky!
Not to mention the Part 3...
“Well, I thank you then, brother…” but as his eyes fell upon Theo, the word got stuck in his throat.
“You said that right, brother” Theo answered and I couldn’t contend my amusement, I laughed out loud. Desmond stared at him frowning.
“What is this? Who are you?”
Hahahaha! Great dialouge. And touching.
but I was happy, because I knew what I was fighting for.
This is all Des. He has to know what he's fighting for, it's very important for him, I wrote about that in LTDA.
Ha! I loved it, Lea! Thanks for that - I had a bad day at work and I needed some good written Des.
:winkiss:
jbdean 12-05-2007, 01:50 PM Lea, I just finished reading it and WOW! I never expected Theo. That was a very coo surprise and I think you described their differences perfectly. Very good story, as always, Sistah! Now I just have to learn how you all manage to tell such great detailed stories in such a short amount of chapters. LOL
Hinnie 12-05-2007, 03:03 PM Right. God, not only "good written Des" but also Theo! Well, each and every Ian
Yhyh, she's awesome, isn't she, Jane?
PS. Love Becky too!
Lea_Lost 12-05-2007, 03:14 PM This is all Des. He has to know what he's fighting for, it's very important for him, I wrote about that in LTDA.
Thanks for the comments! It makes me so happy that you enjoyed it... the essence of a fanfic is to make the characters believable, so if I achieved it in some degree, I can declare myself satisfied.;)
Ha! I loved it, Lea! Thanks for that - I had a bad day at work and I needed some good written Des.
:winkiss:
Aw, sorry to hear that, it can happen... I had one yesterday. 5 hours in a meeting... geez. :frown:
I'm glad I could make it better for you a bit. If you want a good laugh, some cheer, read the fic that Cappy posted yesterday... How Desmond got his Blue Shirt... it is hilarious, that did the trick for me ;)

Thank you Jane! You know I cherish your good opinion!
And don't bother with short fics, I am more than happy with them just as they are
Right. God, not only "good written Des" but also Theo! Well, each and every Ian
Yhyh, she's awesome, isn't she, Jane?
PS. Love Becky too!
LOL, now stop that, or else it will go to my head! :blushing:
Hinnie 12-05-2007, 03:54 PM Aye - you can be satisfied. But be carefull with the satisfaction - we want you better and better! Sasasasasa.
I wanted to read this Blue Shirt but had no time. Suppose I do that in the weekend. Really wanna read it.
Five hours in a meeting... It was boring, wasn't it?
(hugs)
Short fics! On our literary board we almost all love short texts. It's really hard to write well the text which has i.e. half or one site...
Won't stop. Because...
:chair:
Ouch! It's not that icon! Here you are:
Is that clear?
Edit:
God, I should go to bed now: instead of clicking Italic tags I click Quote, instead of Save (after editing) - Edit...

Oh, thank you so much Pace for this treat! It's been quiet around here indeed... but I heard there's a world out there where people have time to write  Maybe I can get there one day.
I looooved the Chesmond bromance in your story... They saved each other's lives... ended up in the same boat LOL They just really clicked. What a waste that relationship!
The way you used events that happened with a slight twist was brilliant. Des was a tiny bit too ... sober and articulate, and if I may raise an objection, this doesn't sound like him:
“But we make our own choices, don’t we?” Desmond asked, tipping back the bottle and draining it. “I’m not so sure I believe in fate.” But he is your creation, and consequently says what he is supposed to ;) His care for Charlie was so touching.
I adored your ending! It gave me goosebumps! Fantastic story Pace.

Thanks. I guess I can defend Desmond's line by saying that it largely mirrored what he told the ring lady -- "I can choose whatever I want". It's possible the phrasing may have been slightly off, but the sentiment matched. Oh well. :)

The whole story was fun and really felt like a whole new story even if it did use some stuff that had already been done on the show. You are a great writer!

I read your post here and I had to stop and say, what Desmond/Jack story? And then I remembered -- oh yeah, she's referring to canon. Heh. I'm so far removed from this stupid show I've completed blocked canon from my mind. I'm all about the alternate Charlieverse these days. Much more satisfying. And I'm happy to take Des along for the ride and let him have some fun too. Fun with fic everyone.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed. More of this to come in season four by the way, now that canon no longer rules me. I feel liberated. ;)

Oh, you don't have to defend anything, that was my point. Desmond can say whatever you want in your story... I do that often. Tweak his views to fit my meaning, even if it opposes slightly TPTB's views...
But if you entered the argument, I might say that Desmond may have told that to Mrs Hawking, but he never actually chose what he wanted, did he. So after that experience he came out with the ferm conviction that "no matter what you try to do, you can't change it".

True, I could give a toss about what TPTB think, though I do pride myself on my characterization. That's important to me.
But if you entered the argument, I might say that Desmond may have told that to Mrs Hawking, but he never actually chose what he wanted, did he. So after that experience he came out with the ferm conviction that "no matter what you try to do, you can't change it".
Ah, but this was before that experience. Desmond didn't meet Hawking until after he turned the failsafe key and all of the events in my story are taking place before. When he met Hawking, he told her he could choose what he wanted and at the time still believed that. Only after history repeated itself with Penny did he fall into despair and tell Charlie in season three that you can't change it. This is season two, and a more idealistic Desmond.

Ah, you are perfectly right, Pace! I did overlook that. :)
But still, Desmond was the one to follow his destiny through monasteries and boat races... yes it was his choice to do so... but remember what he said to Ruth when retelling his experience with the priest on the street: "I knew I was supposed to go with him...leave everything that mattered behind for a greater calling" Those are the words of someone who believes in destiny.

Yeah he does but he was also full of crap then wasn't he, and Ruth saw right through it. ;) He wasn't following his destiny, he was running away from his problems like he always does.
"Well it's a good thing that a shephard didn't help you up, or you'd be off with the bloody sheep wouldn't you?" I loved her.
Lea_Lost 01-24-2008, 01:11 PM "Well it's a good thing that a shephard didn't help you up, or you'd be off with the bloody sheep wouldn't you?" I loved her.
HAHA, yes, especially as a bloody Shepherd (as in Jack) did help him up (or out, whatever) and he is sort of off with the sheep now, isn't he? :24:
Hinnie 01-24-2008, 03:05 PM Well, I would say when he talked to Ruth i.e. he really seemed to just run away from his problems. But on the Island he started to look at the destiny stuff differently. Now he believes in it, maybe he started to believe in the destiny after getting back from the Past...?
I love Ruth. Her words, her huge eyes, blushes and this Scottish way of speaking!
HAHA, yes, especially as a bloody Shepherd (as in Jack) did help him up (or out, whatever) and he is sort of off with the sheep now, isn't he? :24:
Ha, every word in Lost has its (hidden) meaning.
pacejunkie 01-24-2008, 03:48 PM I just saw Catch-22 again and Ruth is awesome. "The closest you ever came to a religious experience was Celtic winning the cup!" She tells it like it is.
YosoylocaporDes 02-04-2008, 08:02 PM :: looks around for Ketch :: Didja make it over here from Chesmond? :D
Hiya Ketch and everybody!
It's been ages, but I do love reading and writing about someone who inspires me...and lord have mercy, Des (and Ian! :D ) inspire the heck outta me! I saw mentions of fanfic in the Chesmond Ship, mentioned that I'd love to start writing again and Ketch asked me about it. I told her I'd fill her in on everything here so as not to have folks killin' me for hijacking the Chesmond Ship - LOLOL!!
So here I is, and my dear Ketch, the longer story is to explain what I aspire to, what I mean by "modern, real, romantic stuff". The men who inspire me, like Des, are very real, maybe flawed and/or a bit baggage-burdened, but DEEPLY DEEPLY heroic and therefore larger than life despite their realness...and what's more, they inspire a bit of the hero in me...so I try to write strong women, but also women tuned into the underlying vulnerability of these amazing men.
I've always loved writing, but always kept it kinda academic, or maybe some poetry (I love poetry...) About 10 years ago one of only two actors who have ever REALLY affected me showed up, I googled him, found a unofficially official website and discovered fanfiction. Lots of it was magnificent, but sometimes not so much so, and most of the time it was because the writer was mistaking sex for romance, thinking sex on it's own had heat. Cut to a bit later, where I had made friends with the webmistress, also a writer, and we joking around and I said "sheeeeesh, sex sex sex, c'mon is there nothing else?" We giggled and she suddenly stopped and totally started teasing me - she said..."hey, why don't YOU "show 'em how it's done, huh?" After laughing hysterically for like an hour (ok, a minute) at the "oh COME ON, who me?" aspect of it all, I tried. It went over better than I even dreamed of expecting - heck I was sure I'd bomb - LOL! And the rest as they say...
So now I'm known by those who know me as a writer as the girl who ROCKS the PG, tah daaah! And here stand I, indescribably more inspired by Ian than anyone before, and he's light years more talented and his portrayal of Des is so complex and rich and gorgeous...definitely fertile soil for my imagination. I feel like I can get closer to that goal of realness that I have for myself. Yep, this one just might bring me of several years of a dry spell...I predict rain any moment now. ;)
I have no host site, alas, but if you'd like to check out anything I've done, I can email it to you if it's sanctioned,. And it's been such a long time...I'll get myself back in shape and practice with something short and sweet...stay tuned, I guess - LOL! :: takes a shakey breath, looks down from the high dive and prepares to plunge ::
jbdean 02-04-2008, 10:35 PM We all love Desmond fan-fic, that's for sure! Some sites where you can host your writings are: 360.yahoo.com, LiveJournal, and fanfic.net (just to name 3). Personally I like the layout of fanfic.net for stories but I love 360.yahoo and LiveJournal because you can include pix with your stories. So it all depends on what you like. You should get some of your stuff uploaded at one of those sites and then let us know. We'll read and leave you feedback. It's been a long time since we've had someone new write and I think I can say for all of us that we'd love to read your work!
YosoylocaporDes 02-04-2008, 11:38 PM I can't thank you enough for your reply, Jane - how warm of you! I'll get that goin' ever so soon. So far it's a ca-raaaaazy week sice I'm working the Election through tomorrow and battling crazy weather and long rides to get...well...anywhere - LOL! But going on into the end of the week and the weekend, should be muuuuch better.
When I'm set up and have a practice-something up and running I hope you'll enjoy, and that it's all up to standard! :: bites a nail..oh YEAH, that's attractive, Kar - LOL ::
Lea_Lost 02-05-2008, 06:16 PM Hee! Thanks for resurrecting this thread! I can't wait to read fanfic again! :69: Soooo little time to write long sagas these days... :(

Loved the tale, the mystery! Taller-ghost-Walt is haunting the freighter as well! :D The Sayid-Desmond team (Team Bearded and Sexy) at its best!
Why do I love your fics so much? For lines like this one:
Locks of chestnut curls and black spirals flew out like chair swings at a carnival as both men jerked their heads around to face the voice.
Oh.My. You know how to get to me...

Captain_Falafel 03-28-2008, 07:40 PM Phew! It's been a long time Bruthas and Sistas but I have a new Desmond fanfic. Well, it's mostly a Sayid fic, but Des features prominently as does Charlie (who is still my constant). Part 2 to follow soon(ish)...

YAY, Cappy fic! it's been a while my friend, but it was worth the wait. It feels so good reading your stories, even if you have a tendency to torture our beloved-ones
You nailed Sayid perfectly, his keen logic and underneath warmth... The way he accepted that Charlie was there even if he was dead - it was like him.
I adore your Charlie, the same sense of humor, the same eloquence as ever - the one thing I loved most about any Charlie he was always so spot on! But this Charlie knows what he wants and how to make it happen. It's exactly the next step in his evolution... thank you for making it happen :)
Desmond, the poor soul! Now that was hard to withness, but I have to admit something like that was much more realistic than the up-and-ready Desmond in the show. Loved how Sayid took care of him.
I wish you'd hurry with part 2
Captain_Falafel 03-29-2008, 07:37 AM Thank you so much, Lea! I needed a breather, but I've decided not to let Charlie's death get me down. Charlie can be brought back in fanfic to my hearts content and recieve the evolution that he richly deserves.
Thanks for your comments on Sayid! I think like Chesmond was my S3 muse in S4 I'm back to loving Sayid now they have given him a decent story at long last. Teaming Sayid up with Ben in the FF and Desmond on the Freighter has been the main thing keeping me interested in S4. Naveen rocks so much!
Not that I like torturing Desmond (eh, who am I kidding!) but I agree that as much as I loved The Constant the 'one phone call, all better now' thing at the end felt a little too easy. It seems like Faraday suffers with long term memory problems, so I thought Desmonds side effects should linger a little after his near-fatal ordeal.
Speaking of Faraday, you might be pleased to know that I have another oneshot fic in mind that centers on his character which also involves Desmond, Charlie and time travelling - sound good?

Oh, wow! Resurrection...! This part was downright poetic... and oddly enough I didn't care about the deaths (maybe because they live on in their sealed world? )
Loved saviour Charlie, and loved the fact that Desmond was the one to say it. His staying on the island reminded me somehow of the ending of the LOTR when Frodo and the elfs sailed away to the West... and live on in a mystical place...
There is one part that I didn't quite understand. Did Desmond get off the island with the O6 and then go back to rescue eveyone, or he was restricted to the island, and Penny saved him in 2007? (I think it was the latter, but I am not sure.) Or perhaps it's just my dilemma to find out how did he end up back on the island when he was already off? (something that I expect to happen on the show as well, but just can't see how...)
Now to the fic with Faraday...
Captain_Falafel 04-01-2008, 02:15 PM Thanks for reading, Lea! I'm so glad you liked it...

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with that comparison. I think now the island is sealed off from corruption the people who remain there (dead and living) will have nothing more to fight over and so the island can become like a little heavenly utopia for them.
I guess I should have made the Desmond part clearer! A few people have been asking after him. Desmond was one of the several survivors rescued by Penny's team. He leaves on the first rescuer helicopter with Penny, Hurley, Claire and Aaron.
Dunno when I'll write that Faraday fic but I have a good bunny.

Have I told you that I love you lately?
I love reading your fics, I am always certain to have the laughs and the cries together.
Such fun, your Daniel stumbling through the frenzy of a rock-concert, sweet young Charlie, all dazed and drugged - but absolved from it as he was drugged by accident, their bond while Dan was struggling to do the right thing for a change - awesome writing.
I could go on about all the wonderful things I liked in it, but I'm fighting to find the right words to describe what it felt like... nostalgia? You know, when you feel that nothing will ever be the same, and it hurts, but somehow it is ok too... it is sweet and it is sad and it is deep. Like a symphony.
I'm struggling with a Des-Faraday fic myself, but beyond the language barrier it feels impossible to nail Dan as you did. :)

Aww, thank you! I like writing bittersweet fanfics. The show mostly leaves me feeling plain bitter these days, so I like trying to balance the story for myself by offering that little pinch of sweetness. I was really worried about writing Faraday since I've missed a few S4 eps, but I've seen The Constant more than once so that was my basis for the Des/Dan stuff.
I really liked writing the young Charlie too! I wanted Faraday to meet Charlie very early in his DS career when he was still quite innocent and unconfident because I thought that Faraday would relate to that Charlie the most. I still needed for him to be on drugs so I had him being slipped some in his drink which seemed likely to happen in that sort of enviroment.
I love that you said this fic felt nostalgic! I think I feel that way too. I've kinda accepted Charlie is never coming back, no matter how badly I want it. If he does come back he won't be the same old Charlie, so...nostalgia is all I've got really.
Ooh, don't know if you are interested in this Lea, but me, pace and sapph have written a long (very long) co-fic based on the Paradox theory and the Charlie/Hawkings fic. I don't know if it would interest you. It's Charlie-centered, but Penny and Despenny are very important in the second half and the epilogue (which like the prologue can be read on its own) is Faraday/Desmond centered. Maybe not months, but a few days for sure ;)
In the meantime my Desmond-Daniel fic is done. It is called Hope is not Such a Bad Thing (http://lea-lost.livejournal.com/3276.html), it is rated PG and has 2 parts.
Summary: Desmond finds himself in desperate need to go back to the island… but how? And yeah, for the first time in his life, he gets lucky!
Captain_Falafel 04-14-2008, 02:01 PM Yay! Great fic, Lea.
You're dealing with stuff that is really bugging me on the show. Mainly the issue that Charlie gave his life for Claire and Aaron's rescue and instead of granting Charlie his dying wish horrible things will be happening to Claire and Aaron instead! I really really want to see Desmond caring about the Charlie, Claire, Aaron tragedy. It seemed like he did in S3, but in S4 they have yet to show Desmond even thinking about any of them.
Your fic offered a much better alternative. Great characterisations of Desmond, Faraday, "dead but here" Charlie and Sayid. It still pains me that Charlie's heroic sacrifice has been wasted and disregarded on the show...but there is hope in fanfic so I'll stick to that from now on!

Yep, it bothers me as well, but you already know that :D I think Desmond is not worried for Claire and Aaron, because he thinks they are safe... as safe as anybody on the island can be. That's why they went with Locke after all... There isn't anything he can do for them right now, any more than trying to secure the rescue for them - and for everyone.
When he'll know them in immediate danger, it will be a different thing. That's what I hope at least, because otherwise it will be really out of character. I believe in Desmond's good soul, and having that, I can't imagine him indifferent toward them. Especially after all that had happened between him and Charlie.

I feel the same way. But then again before S4 started I couldn't imagine Desmond neglecting to give Claire that list. I couldn't imagine Desmond not experiencing any lasting guilt and grief over Charlie's death. There are a lot of expectations that have not been met (Claire mourning, etc). But I think the main problem with Desmond in S4 is that outside 'The Constant' he has had barely any screentime. Sadly I don't think that is going to change in the coming eps.

Thanks again for your feedback!Oh boy, am I going to have a lot to read! I printed them all out and also have Lea's fic to read. I still have two more chapters of my own fic to get up but ... it's a long story. My desk chair at home is kapoot and I can't sit at the keyboard to type up more than a few things here and there. This weekend I'm going to buy a new chair and then ... look out! LOL
The video was fantastic! I left a comment at YouTube. I favorited it, too and gave it 5 stars. I really, really, REALLY wish TPTB would have gone somewhere in this direction because, as we all know, Charlie's story was so NOT played out.

Hey, jb!! I hope you enjoy the new fics. Good luck with finishing your own and getting your chair sorted. Sapphires trailer was gorgeous, huh? I get tingles when I watched it. Yeah, it's sad that TPTB squandered what they had with Charlie. But Dom has some very interesting new projects and fanficcers are filling the Charlie void like troupers, so it ain't all bleak. I don't care so much for the show these days, but Desmond's episode was bloody brilliant. HIC gives it so much pathos whenever he's on screen. I'll come back for his centrics if nothing else!

I've long since learned to give up expectation for things that I'd like to hear or see on the show. So - in order to keep the order in the Universe, I assume they happened anyway. Things like Locke thanking Des that he saved his sorry butt after LTDA - he was the only one to know that he saved everyones lives against his own foolishness, you'd think he was bound to make a public apology ... or the things you claim... Claire mourning, Des feeling responsible - I imagine those things between the lines. Until they do something to contradict me completely, in my head they act, feel normally.

Ack! I still have to buy that chair but taxes got in the way (yes, I'm one of those rare ones that waits till the last minute.)
But you're gonna' splort when I tell you what I did! I read 4 chapters and thought, "this is interesting how it's all happening in reverse ... kind of like the paradox idea being drummed home" ... until I checked and found out that I WAS reading it backwards! :biglaugh: I am so pathetic at times that I scare me! So, I have to un-bind the manuscript and re-sort the pages so I can begin anew. At least I honestly don't recall the ending because I wasn't thinking it was the ending. LOL
OK, I'm done doing my confession online now.
Captain_Falafel 04-17-2008, 03:53 AM LOL! Maybe we should have labelled our chapter numbers more boldly? I hope that hasn't spoiled the story for you, jb. It's very funny though. I suppose the paradox concept is weird enough to happen backwards!

Just wanted to say thank you to JB for this comment. I thought I'd move it to this thread where it's more on-topic. Sorry about the typos/missing words - bad habit of mine. You'd think with 3 editors we'd catch them but I think we were all worn out by the end of writing it. Sapph has mentioned that she might write more for this story, but we are little worried about her - she's been missing from LJ for almost a week.
BTW - 'The Paradox' was nominated for a Lost fic award (http://community.livejournal.com/lost_fic_awards/54161.html#cutid1). Please lend us a vote if you would be so kind!
