On another thread here in Desmond's section, it was suggested that there be some Fan-Fic based around him. I think that's a great idea so I started this thread just for that.

But to avoid any problems down the road, bruhthas ... remember that this is a FAMILY BOARD and while many of us are adults, the admins and mods will take action if anything is racy, sexually explicit or down right raunchy. So, spin your tales and have a blast but if you want to write Adult Themed Fan-Fic, then you should just put a link in this thread with a clearly placed notice "Must Be 18-years or Older to Read" and not post the story here. :smile:

There are Desmond avatars in the Gallery and several on my website (LOST Art, link in my siggy). If you do one from the gallery, just save the url bu clicking on the avi you want and when the next page opens it will show just that avi at the top and 3 more under it. Click and hold down on the avi you picked and chose to "Open image in new window." Then copy the url from the address bar at the top of your browser. When you go into User CP (link at the top right of the green menu), pick Edit Avatar. Select the option next to the box that has the http: in it. Highlight that and then paste the url your copied earlier in there. Then save the action with the button under it all. Your avi should show up at the top of the User Control Panel if it worked.

Thank you for reading. I was a bit 'put down' by that one comment that I got. It seems (to me) that that person never really enjoys my fics... meh, can't please 'em all I guess but I'm really proud of that once since I wrote it in such a short amount and it feels so 'full' to me...

That look on Desmond's face when he finds out about Jack's issues with Sarah was just too strong not to use for my story. He obviously was moved and concerned about what happened. Personally, on the show, I'd like to see Desmond become tight with both Jack and Locke. I think he could be the catalyst to bringing those two together ... a common bond.

I'll really try to get it up this weekend. :biggrin:

Sorry for the confusion! Though it was on purpose. Here's how it was: At the beginning of Chapter One when Desmond is running through the jungle it's before the plane even crashes on the island. It was a flashback of sorts.

In the part I'm writing now it explains why Desmond left medicine.
I haven't gotten to the part where Desmond sees the video yet. I'm thinking that he doesn't recognize Dr. Candle, at first anyway since he only met him once or twice, and that was more than ten years before he was in the hatch.

But he'd recognize the NAME of the doctor whose "experimental program" got his hurt leg back up to par! A true OMG moment! Looking forward to how you write it! :smile:

Desmond sure had a lot of cold, cruel people in his past, didn't he? First his dad, now this doctor-in-chief.

He does doesn't he? Interesting how that ended up that way...it wasn't my original intention when I was working on the story. The characters just appeared that way in my mind.

I listened to the 11/24 podcast in which Javier Grillo-Marxuach and Leonard Dick do an episode-length commentary about "Collision," and in it they mention that each character on LOST has "a history of violence," whether physical, emotional, or psychological. It's one of the common threads that unites them all - they have all had difficult pasts, and on the Island, with little other diversion, they struggle with the demons that none has yet been able to conquer. So it's very interesting that you created a somewhat dark backstory for Desmond as well.

That is an interesting coincidence. (and completely unintentional)

So, xgirl, when can we expect another fantasy-fic? And what food will it involve this time? Bananas? Burritos? Veggie burgers? Something sexy... chocolate's pretty sexy, but hot fudge would probably burn... hmm, maybe I'm unimaginative, but I can't think of that many sexy foods. I would say that slightly messy things tend to be sexy, as others can lick them off you, lol... except for ribs. That's kinda gross.

Didn't you love that long shot of the stadium seats, where Desmond and Jack were, ever so briefly, keeping up with each others' speed and rhythm? To me, that was a kind of foreshadowing of what a strong friendship the two could have!

When, oh, when, will they bring Desmond back?

I just thought I'd try something different. (I did a Locke version of that story too. I shared it with a Locke fan Yahoo group I belong to, and they loved it.)
